Hi, OneBagTravels - Chris here, Founder and Head of Design at humangear. I really appreciate you taking the time to compare our GoPouch to the main competitor. I think you present a fair and well-balanced review of these products. We worked really hard on making GoPouch an easier and better experience compared to zip-seal style pouches and I think you hit on most of the key differences. One subtle benefit or our sealing rail is that it is both much faster and more *certain* to seal. I think most people have experienced the PITA of having to work your way down a zip-style seal to seal it (and sometimes they are just hard to get the grooves lined up) but our rail goes on and off in a second. It's also very hard to know with a zip-seal if you've *really* sealed it all the way along the opening (there can sometimes be a section or an end not fully sealed) whereas with the GoPouch once the slider is on, you know it's sealed. Lastly, everything we make comes with a no-BS lifetime warranty. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts we hope our GoPouches serve you well for many miles and adventures. Safe travels!

I've used the 46 for 2 years for traveling (not hiking). I carry it on so I don't have to check it in and don't have to wait at backage claim. It can hold all the clothing I need for a 1 week trip, before having to do laundry. The most practical feature is the ability to quickly store the straps before carrying it on the plane. This way it's steamlined and won't get snagged on anything. I like the extra layers on the face that hold all of my cords and chargers. They are easy to get to and store when going through security. This is a great travel bag, backback, suitcase, carry-on. Highly recommend.

What do you use these for, just snacks and nuts? Unless you're buying bulk/loose snacks, I can't see how bringing an extra bit like these brings much more value than just using the original bags which is much more likely in my opinion.
@OneBagTravelsКүн бұрын
Snacks and sandwiches, like I'll make a sandwich for the airplane, also my last trip I filled it with peanut butter pretzels and snacked on them for the week. Kind of depends on what you're doing for how useful it will be, I don't always bring them.

Another good review. I've bought a number of silicone products - collapsible plates and tupperware, a collapsible coffee cup and water bottle but I always find they're surprisingly heavy for their size so tend to opt for alternatives.

Thanks for the comparison on 26+6 old vs 26+6 new and this one I guess after you travelled to Vegas. I've used the 26+6 old for a yr plus. You convinced me to buy the new version. Mine hasn't arrived yet. I'm similarly worried about the half-split in the back panel. The old version is uncomfortable to carry at full load, around 7kg. And yes, removal of the front packing cube is a bummer. But I welcome the 100g weight savings and the zippered front pocket. The half panel split actually makes it easier to slot on to a wheeled bag. Fully loaded, the old version can't fit. It feels like by slotting it on, you would snap your laptop. I actually stitched a small packing cube to my old version's front pocket. Bought the new one today for 57usd. Couldn't resist. 😂

Thank you for another great review of yours. I'm currently in the (hard) process of selecting a new backpack for my long-term wandering and your channel has proven to be an invaluable source of info. Since I'm travelling non-stop, despite being as minimal as I can, I need some space and I was looking in the 35-40L range, so this bag never came up in my research until today when I saw your yearly round-up video. It really looks like it has a bigger capacity than other 28L bags, probably even bigger than some 30L, like the Patagonia Mini MLC. Even looking at the size, its 51 x 30 x 24 cm looks bigger than that of 32L bags like the Cabin Zero's 46 x 31 x 20 cm. What do you think? Did you ever have the chance to do one of your volumetric tests with this pack? I've also read of some users that fill both the external segments and the main compartment at the same time, maybe not both fully packed but that seems a lot to me, and if I can put some stuff in the front pockets and still store my Eagle Creek compression cubes (1 set S/M, 7cm deep when compressed) in the main compartment, I'm more than confident that my switch from the current 42L setup to a this 28L is doable without too many sacrifices.
@OneBagTravelsКүн бұрын
The SEG does seem bigger than 28, and it has a good volume to bag ratio, like not a lot of thick padding or pockets that take up space. It has the dividers, but really the whole bag is mostly just packing volume. Where you put the gear in this bag doesn't impact how much it can hold, all the separators can move so if you store more in the main compartment, you just have less space in the front cubes and vice versa.
@pao_banaag5 күн бұрын
I noticed you usually fill the bags with packing peanuts and then check the capacity. I'm curious, why did you do it the other way around with the evergoods ctb26, where you first measured out 26L of packing peanuts and then put it in the bag (which you said wasn't that full)
@OneBagTravelsКүн бұрын
Because some bags are a pain to pack with peanuts and get all the separate pockets full, CTB pockets all have their separate volume so it just takes longer to pack it first.

Great overview. This bag works for me. Thanks for featuring it. However, I am always surprised when the main compartment has locking zippers, but not the laptop compartment. After all, a laptop is most expensive and valuable thing most people travel with.
@OneBagTravels5 күн бұрын
Maybe I forgot to mention it in the video but that bag has double locking zippers on both the main and laptop compartments. However in general I think having two zippers is more important than having specifically locking zippers as most travel locks will work on the zipper pulls.
@SanJava5 күн бұрын
@@OneBagTravels Ah, thanks for the reply! Great to know you can lock the laptop. Ya, I agree, always two zips, but I think the pulls are the weakest link. I had to snap them off once when I lost the key to a lock and it was too easy.

Woo. A pinnacle video comparison for this style of backpack (it’d be great if you could throw in the Arcane Duffel in as well :P). Recently got into minimalist backpacking (trynna hit that 7kg limit from Zipair) so I had to skip the Tomtoc due to its weight. Considered the Osprey Arcane Duffel but seems like it’s on its way out plus I’m too cheap for my first (carefully chosen) backpack. Found a 36L backpack from Ikea (Valrdens 36L) that has the same opening style! Super minimal (read cheap) but most importantly, light weight (760g if Im not mistaken). The backpack has 2 external pockets, a laptop compartment, stowable straps, and…uh that’s it. Not even a bottle pocket or small top pocket. On sale now for 35 CAD (until Dec 31 2024). Well, can’t complain much with that price tag! It’d be cool if you decide to make a review on this super cheap backpack. Smaller styles could make good personal backpacks as well For non-budget airline, the Mini MLC and its substantial strapping points got me intrigued. But the Tomtoc price tag got my wallet intrigued even more 😅 And yes, pack-out demo please if the offer still stands! P/s: Helly Hansen also got a super minimalist packable duffel style backpack (Canyon Duffel Pack). Not a lot of useful info found anywhere about the backpack itself but seems like it got a ripstop nylon material. Sorry for hijacking this video to talk about minimalist backpacks

@OneBagTravels8 күн бұрын
I don't usually use travel pillows because I don't want to carry it around my entire trip, for longer trips the only one I have is a Cabeau pillow where I removed the foam and just stuff the case with clothes. Here's the video I did on it - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pJzZYaCNr5t5iKM it's not as comfortable as the foam, but it's pretty good and basically takes up no room in your pack.

Are the wrinkles materially worse with the vacuum seal bags vs. the packing cubes?
@OneBagTravels9 күн бұрын
Yeah it will wrinkle more than packing cubes in general because there's more pressure on the creases, another reason I think they're better for slow-travel rather than jumping often from place to place.

I use one roll up vacuum bag and a bunch of compression bags. The problems I have with vacuum bags and to a lesser extent with compression bags are that they wrinkle my clothes more than usual and they make one big hard lump in my bag that is hard to fit into irregular spaces in my bag. I usually use the vacuum bag just for my dirty laundry that I don’t care about wrinkling and put it at the bottom of my suitcase. I leave compression bags uncompressed unless I really need the extra space.
@OneBagTravels9 күн бұрын
Yeah wrinkles can be worse with vacuum bags, good use for dirty laundry though

look sturdy. but the shoulder straps will tear once loaded and used over a period of time. This is due to lack of enough threading over the area which they hide by using this method.
