I bet ur score wld much improve if u get a personal 1-2-1 coaching from a pro like her. I had the same score as u, 13/25, the best back 30yrs ago at a trap range. W almost identical 12 ga. 30"bbl pump two dayz ago, i did 18/25. N back in the old dayz, i didn't know what i was doing. And we didn't have utube videos etc. Stance, the gun hold to ur soft shoulder slit, cheek contact, grip, ... where to initially point the bbl, figure out where up in the sky to bust the clay, then focus away beyond the bbl waiting for the bird, just watch the bird fly, let the eye follow it, then pull the trigger. Relax ur shoulder, breathe deeply aftr the shot, clear ur mind, and repeat... POOL, ahh, Pull!!! face

@@schutendohkji548Yup. I went to shoot skeet for the first time last weekend (with my semiauto duck gun and LM choke). Empty range except one guy preparing for a competition the next day. He offered to run me through a course and explained the rules and hold points etc. Shot about a 12 first run, wasn’t really counting just listening to instructions. Shot a second round with him and went 20/25. One on one coaching made some very fast improvements I wouldn’t have otherwise made.

Great tips on station 8. I had been holding closer to the house and lower than you do, and while I was having success with that, your method puts the bead much closer to the line of flight (after the initial "flash") and reduces the amount of gun movement. I went to the skeet fields today to try your method and it's a winner. I am hitting the clays on station 8 much sooner and with not so much effort. Much more relaxed hits. Thanks. Happy New Year!

Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience. It is very hard for me to shoot station 8, Hi 2 and Low 6. I can break them but not consistently. I will try your method the next skeet shooting.

Made it look so easy. I just started a couple of months ago. I was a good trap shooter, hitting 25 or 24 most games. But Skeet is a different animal and much more of a challenge for me. Because it is a greater challenge I really enjoy it and strive to get better. I think the best I've done so far is 20 out of 25, but I'll get better. UPDATE: both today and yesterday I hit 24 of 25 in Skeet. It was a great weekend.

Are you. sure about the angles for High 1? If you dig a hole in the middle of the pad so your eye is a ground level, then a 45 degree angle has you aiming 64 feet above the center peg. 30 degrees would be 37 feet high. I'm 6'6" with a eye level of 70.5" and if I aim 20 feet above the center, it is only a 12.36 degree angle. I do like your videos and they have improved my shooting.

Would these hold points be similar for a low gun mount? For example, would you face the orange cone as if the gun were mounted for a start point? Also, would your starting hold point typically be further from the house? Thanks.
@GoShooting
@GoShooting 11 ай бұрын
As a general rule your hold points will be further out with the targets at a faster speed and allowing for the gun mount time. The idea is to stay in front of the target at all times.

So I’ve always shot low gun, but want to transition to pre mount. My question is, do you have your eyes down the rib when calling pull, or is your head a little above sight plane and brought into shooting position as you’re picking up the target?
@GoShooting
@GoShooting Жыл бұрын
Assuming your shotgun is fitting you correctly, its not a bad a idea to ensure that you are lined up correctly in the gun up position to start. This means being down the middle of the gun as well as having the correct comp height. Once you are sure you are lined up correctly, then you should keep your head locked into position, but raise your eyes above the bead/s to a soft focus looking for the target.

I've recollected how if I point my index finger and thumb alongside my fore end and I point ahead of my clay target, the shot sequence is easy and slowed down for me. Concentrate on that pointing index finger! The eye points it, the body follows.

Just one question; when shooting with the gun down on station six, do you still move your vision further from the low house? Or can you now have your vision at the normal distance from the low house because your head isn't (yet) engaged with the stock?
@GoShooting
@GoShooting 3 жыл бұрын
Hello Ralph, This is a good question. Sadly the answer isn't the same for everyone. A lot of people like to look right out of the house for the target while others like to look further out. I would suggest experimenting to see where you feel you can consistently pick-up the target visually. I personally find that the advantage of not pre-mounting the gun, is the increased visual acquisition of the target.

sorry it's 9.75 feet sill not the 21 feet in US skeet. why does the look point matter so much on such a slow incoming target?
