Senri Trivia: She is now 24...graduated from the very prestigious Waseda University with a degree in Social Science at the age of 21, while being a working musician. Her drum teacher was Kozo Suganuma. She played Tambo in 7/4 at the age of 7. She got her big break by playing the anime songs from the anime, K-ON! She played a Yamaha HipGig kit and dressed as the character Tainaka Ritsu.

Pretty much the most distinguished female drummer of Japan, Senri has also shared a stage with some of the greatest drummers in music history like Dave Weckl, Steve Gadd and Akira Jimbo. She’s among the youngest (at 13) to be added into the Drummerworld’s list of the Top 500 drummers in the world and has also been featured as the cover artist on an issue of Drumhead magazine. Btw she is also the first Zidjian artist ever to get to perform at the very location of their cymbal factory in Norwell, Massachusetts.

One of the things that blows me away about Senri is not just her technique and musicality but her power. To look at her I doubt she weighs more than 90lbs and yet she just rocks it. I believe she started gaining attention at a really early age...like six or some such, so young as she is she's been a committed musician for a long time. Very nice reaction. Thanks.

She spoke about the pronunciation of 'Senri'; it's 'Sendy', similar to Sandy but with an 'e'. I have no friggin idea why her name is written as Senri when if you drop the name in Japanese (川口千里) into google translate it spits out the English: Chisato Kawaguchi. But if you hit the speaker icon for the Japanese pronunciation you get: "Kawaguchi Sendy" affirming what she said-Sendy
