I did the exact same thing my brother!!! I stayed with my fathers church until his retirement. He bought me a organ and a keyboard when I was 10 I never forgot that and even while playing at big churches I always made it to his services to play for those 40 ppl for 25 years. I’m blessed for it. Salute

I needed to watch this video today! Like God brought me to this video! I am struggling to know what God wants me to do. Recently I have said yes to help my local church to be a technician to handle the audio/video during sermons. I have done that in the past in another church so I have some experience. Some of the church members has asked me to do some jams after we talked about music and I told some of them that I produce electronic music. I am a bit scared of jamming as I only use my ears and improvise as I do not know how to read a note sheet. I usually play with my Akai EWI Solo wind instrument as I struggle to learn the trumpet. I want to play in the sermons, but that is waaay out of my comfort zone. I am very humbled that people ask to jam with me in church with no audience. I have done it once with another member of the church while he played the piano. That was lots of fun. It is just that I feel that I am not so talented like the other members I jam with. They are so great on the keys, singing, playing the guitar etc. It is something else playing in a church than in my own basement. I am watching channels like this to also learn the piano. Thanks for your videos. :) Please pray for me to help my path into music and the church. 🙏

@prettysimplemusic7 ай бұрын
Thanks! Justin has plenty of AWESOME vids online already - no one compares to you, me or any other musicians in the world - we all have a unique musical journey and mission. ☀️💚
@StopCensorship7 ай бұрын
Justin Is good but as good as he is there’s ALWAYS someone better. Not sure why you chose to bring him up here, it makes it seem like you are maybe a little envious of Rodney?? 🧐 Anyway, while it’s true that we should always strive for our own personal best, we also have to be realistic in that some people are born to perform particular things a little better than others, we call those things gifts! Now true, we should all practice and improve upon our weaknesses and thats very doable, but in some areas other musicians might be better and that’s ok too! 😃 I know what I’m saying is true because I’ve been playing since I was a young kid, and that was 45 years ago! I’ve met people better than me and I’ve met people who I was better than, it is what it is. I don’t care if someone is better than me though, because I believe our gifts come from above! Now people tell me that I’m very fast on the keys and this is not really something that I practiced for, I just always had a natural facility for speed and dexterity. Now my ears?? 😩 Ha, that’s another thing. I always felt that I didn’t have naturally good ears but I kept practicing and now I can identify notes without seeing or touching a piano, we call that working on our weakness. For example, I can’t say for a certainty that Justin Schultz is better than Corey Henry. 👀 What I can tell you is that they are both incredibly good, stone cold virtuosos! And I can tell you with 1000% full certainty that he’s is NOT better than Oscar Peterson was, and I doubt if he EVER will be!👀🤔 That’s why it’s important to be humble! As as was mentioned here by the host, we all have something to say and we are all individuals who play what our heart tells us and we all have different abilities and therefore should be thankful to even be able to play at all! Just my personal opinion and your mileage may vary! Peace blessings and Prosperity!

I see so many DUDES in the comment section. Where are all of the WOMEN at? Women are not into male keyboard players so why are so many dudes interested in playing keyboards at such a high level when it don't attract women...or money? What's the point? To get respect from other male players?
@sebastianchristopher94617 ай бұрын
1. I'm confused. I thought KC was an atheist. He made a whole video about him being an atheist. 2. It's sad to see Rodney hold his entire music career back to play at his dad's small church. That seems like fear and parental control like it is in my family with some of my siblings and my parents control over them as Pastors. PJ Morton was smart to not let his famous father being a Pastor deter him to leave home and flourish in music.
@prettysimplemusic7 ай бұрын
1. You obviously didn't watch the full Atheist video 😂 2. You obviously missed where he said God has opened doors BIGGER than any megachurch because of his obedience. He's a top producer in LA and even travels during the week for major production work. 3. I appreciate you taking time to watch my videos, but man... it's truly disheartening to see comments like these that show that some musicians don't watch my videos from beginning to end, nor with a spirit of empathy and spiritual understanding. ☀️💚
@sebastianchristopher94617 ай бұрын
1. I did watch your Atheist video and if you are a spiritual man you never would've made it in the first place. 2. What's disheartening to me is seeing so many black Americans and musicians under the Christian religion. That's a Jewish religion that black slaves in the south converted to between the years of 1795 -1840 while attending tent revivals held by white male Christians from Britain. It was called the 2nd Great Awakening Period. 3. I'm aware of Rodney's producer credits for Yolanda Adams, R. Kelly etc. which is why he shouldn't be playing for anybody's church...his father's included. He hasn't outgrown playing in church. 4. Aretha Franklin started out singing in her dad's church but she didn't end up that way.
@halstedhouse7 ай бұрын
you realize he was the main arranger producer for r Kelly Ciara among others. He wrote the music for SpongeBob the musical. He's worked with 2chainz and others you don't even know all the greats he's worked with, but He chooses to play at his Dads church. key word chooses
@sebastianchristopher94617 ай бұрын
Negro, you're not telling me anything I don't already know about this brotha. In life we all have choices to make. He chooses to play at his dad's small church when he don't have to. I personally wouldn't do that and my father is a Pastor. We all know PJ Morton father, Bishop Paul Morton is a Pastor and PJ (a great keyboardist) decided to carve his own lane in R&B.
