Daystar was a 3 way collaboration between myself Shawn Obrien and his best friend Michael Wilde. We wrote Daystar right after Rob Balmer's funeral (Good Friday in 1989). All of us went to high school with Rob.

Christian, or secular, professional singers/musicians are *commodities.* Gospel music is *a business,* no more, no less. Paul, the Apostle, contradicted Jesus's teachings several times in his writings. 1 Corinthians 5 says to judge "a brother;" Matthew 7:1 says, "Judge not lest you be judged." Moreover, *Russ Taff knew* what was going on with Michael at the "time of indiscretions," yet, he gently *encouraged* him, and loved him as *Jesus* would. The industry bigwigs are the ones who banned him. It's a *business,* brother. If things had gone wrong with Michael (i.e. suicide), would, say, *Mr. Gaither* have boasted "success" at Michael's "gleeful" return? No, because Michael would have been dead. I can tell you that, professionally, *many new clauses* regarding *behavior* were added to Michael's *career contract.* "He who is without sin cast the first stone." Except for Russ Taff, they *all* threw stones at Michael. Why? Because *Michael got caught.* My apologies for appearing rude, but naivete in the *Christian music industry* is *professional suicide.*
