The answers are a partial reason. The other is Steve’s response to the answers. Sometimes he seems dumbfounded and can’t speak and sometimes he’s so shocked that he lets a word or two slip.

That has happened, though strategy seems to vary. It's a bit related to how hard the question can be. Seems to me that now and days they forget they can pass and focus on trying to build the board. I think it's based on the fact that you get the three strikes before the steal can occur. However, the family that passes or don't play the survey question get some time to deliberate on an answer based upon the answers revealed. The draw back is it's one and done in a steal. However, there were some questions in the past I believed deserves to be passed, for I feel someone on the opposing team may get at least one more answer than needed. It's a risk to do the pass, but what's a reward without a bit if risk.
