Okay. Can you ask him about intonation problems? I have this thing that when I play a G chord or any other open chord by itself it sounds in tune. But when I change the chord eg from C to Am or G to Dm then one chord sounds off.

I’m a fan of the zero fret. I don’t know why more makers don’t use them. I seem to remember the first few guitars I ever came across, in the very early seventies had them. When I first saw a guitar without one, I thought it was to cut costs or something (it was probably a Fender…).

One of my guitars I dropped from a standard E 10-46 set to drop A 14-68. The low 3 strings didn't fit and slots needed widening. I don't have nut files, so I used the excess strings themselves as files. It took a while, but it actually worked and it plays great now.

Do you have a video on how to fix strings from sticking in the slots? I have installed about 15 Black Tusq nuts now and the last one I did the strings stick. I used the proper nut file size and even added some nut sauce but it still sticks. I can turn a 180deg turn on the key before any deflection in my tuning and they once I do get it where I need it the string detunes about 1/4-1/2 step in just a few strums or 1 bend.

My nut is too low for my guitar. When I pluck my stings there is buzzing, I have to change the nut, how do I find the perfect nut height for my guitar?

I have a 7-string guitar that was setup for standard 0.10 string set. I put in a standard 0.09 set and now I have nut problem.

If you're not comfortable working on it yourself, take it into a tech and they'll get it fixed up for you toot sweet.

I don’t have experience with zero frets but after reading and listening about it I think zero frets are the way to go. If I would build me a custom guitar not using a locking nut system I would defintely go for zero fret

@@chocolatecookie8571 😎👍 The zero fret eliminates a few problems and the only drawback for some folks is the difference in the guitars tone with open strings. Some might not like losing the sound of the plastic/bone/tusq/graphite nut on the open strings.

Is it possible to have a nut that is set up for two different tunings but with two different string weights? IE: standard with 10-60 and half step down with 11-64 I have a 7 string guitar

The tuning doesn’t matter. It is about the measure that counts. Only one nut cut can serve one set the best. If you choose the 10 set it can give problems when you put on an 11 set and vice versa. What is a better option in this case is a zero nut. Then you can change different sets without changing the nut

Impossible to hear everything clear, because the neighbours son, seems to have ruined the sound on the video with misplaced homemade muzak. Doesnt add anything to the video, but spoils it. How could this first amateur fail occur, and no adults to remove it at once.
