i think this review is misleading as you say they work with any alarm with a jack point they do not work with delkim ev/ d alarms for one

As far as we are aware the Ev - D do not have a jack, only the NiteLite output socket.

The case with many cheap alarms - the jack socket is just a power outlet to light up illuminated/LED bobbins....

The dongles do work with the EV-D's, I've just set mine up with them.
