Poor Kevan, one of the most level-headed, sensible, honest, and morally decent Lannisters. He had a bit of Tywin’s political savvy and took no shit from Cersei. Out of everyone who died in the Sept, he was one of the few who wasn’t entrenched in “the game”, he only wanted to serve the throne and his family with honesty and honor, and he was killed for it.

Kevan was loyal to Tywin because Tywin was smart and his voice commanded respect because he basically saved the Lannister house, showed strength by crushing another house who challenged them for the domain of the reach. But Cersei does not command respect, she thinks she is smart but almost everything she has done was stupid and idiotic and she's a vengeful bitch as well so glad to see Kevan not taking her crap.

It’s after Tywin’s funeral and Cersei asks him to be the hand and he basically has a list of demands such as her return to Casterlyrock and then things get very heated when he calls her a bad mother and then right at the very end before he leaves he says ”Tommen has his mother... And his father too, I suppose” 🤯

Besides Jamie, Kevan was one of the few Lannister family members who loved Tyrion. He treated him with love and respect, and didn't hate him or try to have him killed for being a dwarf like Tywin and Cersei did.

kevan plays a good role in the books. in his time as hand of the king after tywin realm starts to get balanced. he succesfully manages the crisis of 7 kingdoms. Varys is the reason Kevan dies. He says Kevan is an admirable and wise man and perhaps the last chance for realm to find peace but for his plans to be succesful realm must be in chaos at the moment.

In the show they made him way weaker than he really was just to make Tywin look even strong which in my opinion was not necessary. In the books he was truly second to Tywin. He was Tywin's chief advisor and closest companion because Kevan was ALMOST as good as Tywin. They did Kevan dirty in the show like many other characters.

Sort of a spoiler, but Kevan is not killed by a wildfire explosion in the books. He dies in a similar situation as Pycelle did in the show, in that he was lured and then unexpectedly killed, but what differs is that he was killed by Varys. Apparently, Varys told him that while he bore Kevan no ill will, he believed Kevan was such a good leader that he would bring peace to the realm and undo the discord Varys tried to sow, and this peace would make it difficult for a Targaryen to reclaim the throne.

David Eats that would add an interesting twist. Maybe there’s a reason the red priestess in Mereen mentioned it to Varys other than just to spook him or show how much she knows/has magical powers. The GoT world is a very zero sum one so I can understand why Varys could think Kevan good but still feel the need to kill him. Kevan has a large army and is influential. If he doesn’t wish to follow Dany, he could pose a formidable threat to her. At this point, it just feels like Varys and Dany has overstepped the mark from their initial good intention. They’ve gone from wanting what’s best for Westeros to wanting what’s best for Westeros as long as they are on the throne. And of course the latter allows them to feel justified in committing evil which makes them little different to the characters they morally looked down on.

Brody Wilson To be fair to Tywin, he still educated him and let him live as a highborn Lord. Most other nobles would have left him to die and wrote off the child as stillborn. Tywin also fought for him after his abduction. Tywin certainly respected his intellect, but hated his whoring and drinking as it embarrassed House Lannister. Tywin despises people like that, as his father was like that and it nearly led to the Destruction of House Lannister.

HotaruZoku Lena Heady’s portrayal of Cersei is one of the major departures from the book. She adds a very subtle human element, which is quite compelling on screen. In the books, Cersei is a straight up insane, like actually fuckin bonkers. She only kinda liked Joff because she saw her own ferocity in him.

@Frank Castle Joffrey was anything but a puppet king... he didn't listen to his mother or any of his advisors, he did what he wanted to do (beheading Ned, torturing Sansa etc.), he even confronted Tywin twice. Tywin and Tyrion could intimidate him to an extent, but they certainly couldn't control his actions. He would have massacred all the sparrows the moment they dared to touch the royal family (that's why he is sort of a "big dog"), and here we have Tommen a helpless, naive child who couldn't wipe his own ass properly if someone didn't tell him how to do it.

It was a good device, I believe. My problem with it is that it is too "wacky" of a sound effect. It could have been better if they used a more "accidental, realistic" sound. In this case it is much too "Monty Python" rather than "Game of Thrones" and seemed like someone tried vandalize or sabotage the official soundtrack.

In the novels the role of Kevan Lannister is more significant and broader than the depiction in the show, I regret that. Ian Gelder did a good job, it was the decision of the production to minimize Kevan in the adaption I think. Well, the show had abandoned the path of the novels by the point when "Show Kevan" became Hand, in the novels he became "Regent". It'll be interesting how a reboot of GOT in a few years will adapt Kevan then!
