HOTD for me is a lame duck. GOT was special because of all the intrigue and dialogue of the early seasons. The deterioration of the show roughly coincides with the increased screen time the dragons were given. For me HOTD is basically just the dragon stuff turned up to eleven. Its almost like they don't bother with the dialogue in HOTD because they are relying too much on the dragons being the main draw. The dragons are carrying way too much of the show, the dialogue is weak, and if you take them away this show would have little to offer.

The thing that really annoyed me is that D&D turned Sansa & Arya into CERSEI LANNISTER, and they did this without even realizing it or seeing the irony. For instance, Cersei was awful to Sansa when she was a child, putting the girl through torture, when Sansa’s only sin was being Ned Stark’s daughter. Then, in this season, Sansa says that Ned Umber & Alys Karstark, who were both children, should be punished based on what their FATHERS did. As for Arya… she killed off all those people under Frey for payback which is exactly something CERSEI would’ve done like when she blew up the Sept. D&D saw those scenes as “girl boss” moments when it actually revealed to me that Sansa & Arya are psychopaths. CERSEI WOULD’VE BEEN SO PROUD OF THESE LITTLE MONSTERS!

@HimselfMan96 I agree, it's a really cool idea, to expand on it a little, they're gonna go further north than any man has ever been and capture some of the first wights to ever turn, so much opportunity there Moreover why did Danny go at all? They walked in and it was just too convenient that the night king was able to turn a dragon and destroy the wall with it. The one that was flying around, while another the size of a Boeing 777 was just chilling at ground level, not moving and containing pretty much every main character left from this end of the story arc at that point, guess the night king recognised he wouldn't stand a chance against that much plot armour. One of my main criticisms is that both dragon deaths were as meaningless as they were stupid, the other died because Danny forgot about the most powerful navy in the world was exactly where they said it was, infact they literally pointed it out to her and said It was dangerous and not to go near it.

Varys is another chessplayer, he is probably responsible of Mad King's downfall and there is a theory that he was a secret Blackfyre. Littlefinger and Varys are maybe most complex characters in the series, how D&D not know to use them shows their lack of talent.

Last comment I'll make: Voice part of the transformation would make sense if your entire body turns into that of the other person, which seems to be how this work. this would work because you would also have the vocal chords of that person. Faceless men work on magic, not disguises. They probably turn into people by harnessing blood magic (hence needing to kill the person and take their face.)

You forget how superstitious people are in Westeros. All the Freys dying there put it on the same level as the Night Fort with the Rat Cook and all the other haunted places.

I don't appreciate you being so critical of the delightful Supercuts of the past. Always loved your videos!! That said, glad there's still people like me with enough furious anger at the end of GOT for an hour and a half legolashing, let's go! ❤❤❤❤ Ed.: Game of Freys should be a spinoff series.

Something to note right off the bat about the Freys is that it's _heavily_ implied that there will be a "too many dragons" situation once Walder Frey dies. And that would be a _far_ more fitting end for the Frey line than Arya just... poisoning everyone.

Man, you could make a rewriting Game of Thrones series. Starting from where It all went wrong (Season 5), and giving the show a worth finale.

Season 4 has some diferences compared to the books but things still worked, I think it was more of an adaptation than a complete butcher of the plots. We didn't have Tysha revelation cause in the show it hasn't much impact, so they switched it into Shae that was Tyrion love in the show, but she ended up betraying him, so I think Tyrion could have become traumatized and evil with it. The battles at Castle Black was combined into one hudge battle and it worked pretty well. I think the story was still coherent with the books. The only main diference was Lady Stoneheart, but this could have been fixed later with an introduction or a substitution.

I had to excuse myself to my office when I heard them say High Garden and thus the Reach are not renowned for their battle prowess. Biggest and potentially richest armies in Westeros but what fucking ever. Can forget about the Tarly’s and HighTowers too. THEY ARENT KNOWN FOR FIGHTING WARS EITHER. A show with them fighting wars would be unrealistic and silly DND, I agree 💀🔫

Always assumed the whole Winterfell plot was just a case of the Stark kids being extremely bored because they had nothing to do, immediately seeing through Littlefinger‘s plot and just pretending that he could stir up conflict between them while they met off screen and laughed their asses off on how they fooled Littlefinger.

29:40, doesn't Jon know about Bran being alive through Sam, or are saying presumed dead because, well, the white walkers should've realistically dunked on him when he was beyond the wall?
@zamanimvukela4573Ай бұрын
I think this is one of those occasions where he might've confused the book and show. In the show Sam told Jon but in the book he stopped himself before he told because Bran and the Reeds made him swear he wouldn't tell anyone.

I can't remember if you addressed it in your original video, but Braavos was founded by escaped slaves, so Dany's activities would very much be of interest to them -- & no, Cersei isn't a slaver- so maybe an argument _could_ be made for a faction of the Iron Bank *_thinking_* about supporting her (at least long enough to get their loan repayments settled), as a means of keeping a foot in the door on the western continent - but Dany has actively fought against the slave-states in her part of Essos, shouldn't that intrigue the Braavosi? Unless there was a statement there to be made- about how moral foundational goals can get corrupted over time, or what economic & social impact Dany's rushed efforts have on the wider landscape, & how it would be seen as dangerous, even to those who might otherwise be potential allies - you know, one of the numerous invisible subplots that could have been better than what we got...
@bishbosh4815Ай бұрын
It's always funny when they do have characters acknowledge how flawed and batshit crazy plans are, but then the other characters never offer a counter argument or reassure them it will work , they just shrug it off and laugh, or say "do you have a better plan" or it's a last resort. Basically it's so crazy it might work instead of characters decisions being grounded in logic and reason like in the early seasons

This is perfect, but for 12:11. I liked that the hound had not "accepted" the fire lord as his god, but he believes this to be the correct path to be on. He openly rejects religion at every point, yet he was the only one who saw visions in the fire when staying at the abandoned home of the two who helped him when he needed it. The hound was burnt as a child; it makes sense to why he wouldn't want to believe in a fire god, but I personally thought his journey was interesting and putting such a anti-religious person who rarely takes responsibility(minus looking after Arya) with The Brotherhood who use religion at every turn to explain why things happen. I would say the Hound and the Brotherhood share a similar outlook, they both do bad things for the betterment of themselves and sometimes others, the only difference is the hound is alone, while the brotherhood have a group setting to share the burden. The hound had met the brotherhood early in the story, which I personally enjoyed that the brotherhood who believed in a fire god would end up furthest north than most characters and for the man "kissed by fire" i think it makes sense. Great video though. This was the only thing that kinda bothered me, otherwise I'm going to binge your other videos on DoL videos :)

Every devoid of logic moment is why the books are probably taking so long. Writing so many characters POVs and having everything make sense has to be tough. In the show, the character count went way down so there weren't as many councilors around important characters to point out why their decisions would be foolish or not.

For me this is the worst season. S8 felt worse cause it was the last one but there is sooooo much in this season that felt so forced - and yes, there was a lot in s8 aswell, but here i felt it was the "jump the kraken" moment. Especially Arya/sansa annoys me to no end, and I liked some of the chemistry in the suicide squad but the reasoning behind going and how Dany saved them is just hahaha..

The Roseroad leads directly from King’s Landing to Highgarden but even if Jaime was able to mobilize an army to attack the Tyrells, it would be nearly impossible for a host that large not be spotted. The Tyrells would’ve had plenty of time to prepare for a siege if they made it that far.

45:25 Totally agree. You know how some videogames will give you the option to kill off a character or spare them or whatever? And some you can tell that the creators expected you to kill them because they'll just kind of hang around the game and not add anything and just say generic stuff? Yeah, that's Bronn all of season 8.

Season 7 and 8 is devoid of logic, it's just embarrassing. Season 6 is not the most logical thing ever too.. The fact that we went through this seasons is due to our love to the books, to the previous seasons and to incredibly good team of art workers and many other things. The writing and plot and lack of care for logic is just catastrophic. This 2 morons just didn't wanted to do this anymore and they were ok with delivering shitty, bad and lacking product. It's really tragic what happened and I'm mad that they stole from us the satysfying, logic and epic ending to the story. And because G. R. R Martin is making side project after project and easy millions, they took from our right to have 2 last book!!!!!!

Yes, but like, spending 10 years with a show where everything about it was 10/10 quality; only for it to turn into an inconsistent, plot hole, character assassinating story is just heartbreaking. No matter what, I feel like people would've been unhappy. However, the writers rushed everything they could about the last two seasons to get to their new project. The quality drop off is SO insane it's hard not to overlook even the smallest of mistakes.
@bishbosh4815Ай бұрын
16:25 this is exactly I feel about HOTD, they spend the whole season building up their armies but then it ends with them having multiple dragons that they can just use to intimidate King's Landing into surrendering now they have enough to defeat Vhagar. What's the point in spending a whole season on politics and strategy when they can just end this war before it begins without any armies?
