Littlefinger bringing down the wall is - sorry - just as dumb as giving Sansa to the Boltons. You can’t argue it is out of character for Littlefinger to commit on a plan with big variables that are unknown or uncontrollable to him and then have him grant the army that personifies this exact sentiment (nobody knows what the Others really want apart from the Eternal Night) to wreak havoc on the realm. He could not anticipate what they will do and how to get rid of them. For his final demise I‘d pitch a scene similar to the one where he betrays Ned: that would have been a great mirror to the first time we actually see him be as deceitful as he is and then finally, after all this time, go down for it. And I think season 7 nearly got it right (how they got there and how it eventually played out is another thing), so I also wouldn’t imagine it to be vastly different. I‘d just rather watch Littlefinger go to prison and turn insane there (preferably at the Eyrie) rather than just be killed. That would be far too nice for someone as vile as him.

I think another thing that speaks to why Cersei is a great villain is the fact that often we root WITH her! While horrifying its impossible not to be impressed and excited about the sept blowing up and all the sparrows dying. Her revenge on Ellaria is VERY satsifying, her revenge on Septa Unella is haunting that you can’t help but be a little mesmerized.

It should be noted how different Meryn Trant was portrayed in the books than in the show. You see, it feels very contradictive that everyone says that Meryn is evil due to beating Sansa or following orders from Joffrey. I mean he did kill Arya's fencing mentor, but this was under orders of his king. Just like Sandor followed orders when he killed the butcher's son or any order Bronn follows, especially if he gets paid for a job. And then there's assaulting Sansa under Joffrey's orders, which makes everyone say, "WHAT A MONSTER!!!!" , but again... just following orders. Meryn was no stand-up guy, but to demonized him when others have done way worst, simply because of an order feels very contrived. In he books, while Jaime and him don't get along, Varys sees him as loyal. But the truth is, he's just a man who takes his jobs to far extreme levels, not because he's sadistic. Jaime even told him in Storm of Swords that it's important to try and temper the King's more merciless tendencies, rather than just blindly obeying them. But oh no.... D&D realized that the dude really hasn't done anything that bad to deserve a death like the one Arya would give him, as well as not wanting Arya to go down the path of darkness with no return, so what did that do? Reveal that in the S5 finale that he was a pedophile before his death, despite the fact that there's really nothing that alludes to the fact that he is one, let alone finding gratification on putting his hands on teenage girls. The creators conjured this nowhere to make his death a total, "F---yeah! You go Arya!" moment.

I kind of think that Cersei lied to Catelyn about her first born boy who had brown hair just to draw any suspicion away from herself and Jaime since all three of her kids have blonde hair. And technically she never gave birth to her fourth child. It was just a fetus that was a few weeks old. And so I don’t really think the Cersei Prophecy was an abandoned plot.

The waif not being down into Euron caliber of shit is baffling, and a one-dimensional plot contrivance such as the night king being ranked above three dimensional characters is almost just as shocking. I dont wanna come across as another negative comment, and i still enjoyed this video alot, but i guess this is kind of inevitable when a character's "iconic"ness in single one-off moments weighs that character's average against the scales even if the rest of the character is shit.

I've been re watching the show because I just finished reading the books again after reading them all in between seasons 1 & 2. I just finished the watchers on the wall episode and i remembered it being good when I watched it before but it really blew me away this time. So I wanted to see if there was a ranking of the battles and here we are. Someone else agrees that it is perfect. That one shot pan around the whole courtyard is beautiful. I did a rewind on that 4 times in a row just to see all the complex movements in that shot. Jon giving the key to Sam saying I need him more than I need you right now. Then Ghost getting released and just ripping out dudes throat. The reciting of the Night's Watch vows in the tunnel when facing down the giant is such a good moment as well. Also Ygritte's death is the most emotional death in the story IMO. It just hits you in the feels so hard. I remember when I read book 3 the first time I was in tears when I read "You know nothing Jon Snow."

The book makes it clear that Mirri didn't poison Drogo's wound. GRR even said that Drogo would have lived if he'd followed her treatment. Instead Drogo ignored everything she told him to do, removed her bandage and packed his wound with mud. Drogo caused his own infection.

Agreed that 8 episodes just isn't enough time to tell the story of Book 1 properly -- But, as a person who had never seen the original series, the adaptation was more than enough to fascinate and entertain me, as well as lead me to watch (and love) the original (as well as Kora) and enjoy all the added depth. I expect that there are many thousands more just like me who have this Netflix show to thank for being an introduction to the fantastic world of Avatar.

My only argument of Bran killing night king, is the Azor hai prophecy about ending the long winter night. Isn't it supposed to be Jon or Dany? The show talks about Azorhai at least couple times.

10. They absolutely ruined Sansa Stark. They gave her a different character's storyline. They had her be a bitch to Daenerys because she's a pretty woman (their words, not mine). Sansa needed to use Dany for the war and then plot to be rid of her. Not poke the bear. She should've been smarter than that. She had a lot to learn from Littlefinger still. Not sure why you'd put her in this list since you talk about them ruining her. 9. Sam- they absolutely ruined him. He made Jon's Targaryan revelation all about him. Sam needed to be a better friend. Jon was more a brother to Sam than Dickon. But he was the only one to want to give power to the people in the end. Then he proceeds to write a book in a few days time and leave a major player out- as a joke! 8. Tormund i agree with. Even if his simping for Brienne was unwanted. 7. Davos I love, BUT he was a horrible hand to Jon. And they wanted to ruin him by making him have a crush on Missandei. The actor REFUSED to be a pervert. Therefore they tried. 6. Grey Worm not killing Jon is sound. Jon has an army of Northerners out there-Grey Worm didn't want his people to die anymore, now that there's no Daenerys. Him not executing Tyrion is BS though. Tyrion had no one to save or avenge him and was arrested. The fact he was left alone is a plothole. There needed to be a good reason for it. I agree with everyone until Number 2. 2. Brienne crying and begging Jaime not to leave her kinda ruined her to me. Like she was this desperate thing. She was a woman that needed no man, until she needed Jaime. 1. Nothing can ruin Sandor and his cussing. But I bet they tried. It's also kinda silly how he's asking Arya not to die for revenge but he proceeds to die for revenge 5 minutes later. Gendry, Hot Pie and Podrick Payne got away unscated.

I must say though, the original definitely matches it. Don't be put off by the fact it was made in the 80's - it still holds up extremely well. There's a reason it was something like the second most viewed tv show in history after Roots. Both adaptions are brilliant but the first one has much to offer. The romance between John and Mariko, for example, is particularly poignant and lovely to watch unfold as their chemistry practically sears through the tv screen. Some of the other characters such as Omi, Rodriguez and Father Alvito and dare I say, Blackthorne himself, are, in my opinion, more intriguing and played by better actors.

sorry, I tried, I really did. But the narrators snarky comments and annoying voice finally got to me. Yes, the dialog cited is bad, but his attempts at roast humor and his obvious distaste for the writers ge so frequently insults got very, very tedious. If this is an example of the cutting commentary he provides, I think I will be skipping any of his future videos. btw I did make it to #6, so points for that , I guess.

Tywin, Cersei and Jofferey were all equally despicable and outstandingly well acted but were at the mercy of other villains. Ramsay answered to no one once he killed his dad so he litteraly did what he wanted which made him unpredictable. With the little time that Ramsay had in the series he was completely unhinged and the most terrifying villain in my opinion. Jofferey was an asshole bully that tormented people and occasionally killed people when his temper flared but he was a weak mamas boy who got slapped around by Tyrion. Ramsay murdered his own father, killed people for fun and literally fed his stepmother and her baby to his dogs. He violated Sansa, he even broke Theon to the point that he couldn’t respond to his own name, and killed Rickon in front of John. Even before he was ripped apart by his dogs he never gave Sansa the satisfaction of begging for his life. Man was just pure diabolical

Re: Rapid cuts in Hardhome/Final Battle of Winterfell - they had to cut those quickly because they didn't want fans taking a long, close look at the actors portraying the Army of the Dead - they could cut costs in production by not having to use so much make-up/CGI by simply not showing much of the AotD in any extended detail. While I can understand your criticism of this point, it's also worth remembering that these scenes didn't "happen" - they only exist in a make-believe world that operates on a budget ;)
