I appreciate your RDR2 playthrough. It's really hard to find people who are invested in the story. Most Twitch streamers only care about acting like clowns and having fun with their chat and they don't care about the story of the game. I've seen some amazing playthrough of RDR2 in the past but not so much lately until I came across your channel. You are not very emotional (some people are crying when Hosea and Lenny are killed by the Pinkertons or when we learn that Arthur got TB) but you are very invested in the story and you're making interesting and intelligent observations.

@Jamie-o6vКүн бұрын
The game does a very great job of setting up Arthur's sickness. There's some cut scenes going back to chapter 3 where he unusually coughs. There's a really noticeable one in Chapter 4 in Shady Belle were he initiates the next debt mission with Strauss. I think that one was definitely intentional. It's hard to pick up on and can just be acquainted to Arthur being an avid smoker, even if he isn't smoking in the scene. And his eyes look purple and bloodshot after Guarma, you think it's probably due to the conditions he's just been through, but it's noticeably worst than Dutch, Bill, Javier ect.

The stranger missions with the nun are some of my favourites in the game, especially post-diagnosis - they really give you some really great insight into Arthur's feelings about his TB and the outlaw life, so please keep up with those if you can! I'd love to see your thoughts. The money collecting missions with Strauss in Chapter 6 also do a lot to fill out that arc (which you might not expect given how they've been prior to Arthur's diagnosis) and are really worth doing 🙏

@@JohnTwolfethere are some towns in the game where there’s something going on with the townspeople due to spoiler circumstances and for various reasons. After the TB diagnosis.....the way the game designers have Arthur talking in his head, and the voices of the people he cares about most, .....really is well done. Honestly, I got the good vibe about Sadie from the first meeting with her. I think they tipped their hand how cool she was, but how well written her dialogue was, and her VA's performance was, she had a feel of a "better quality characer than most of the gang" person. I'm glad they paid it off and stuck with it. Nice to have at least a few people quality enough to match up with Arthur's character.

Really appreciate John calling out the games over regular invoking of "linear on-rails chain of events" approach this game takes to, sadly, nearly 100% of core narrative developments. It would not be so much a sore thumb, since so many games suffer from that limitation, but this game presents itself as such a "simulator" and open world and does such a talented job of fooling the player into feeling "as if" they are the master of their character's development and pathway. They put so much talent into the depth, and beauty, and interactive environment and so many nifty NPCs and side things, but then didn't take advantage of the opportunity to provide even just a BIT of proper Branching Narrative options, it's......odd, and kinda conspicuous, in contrast to the way the game presents itself (so humanistically and deep layerings). Odd to say it's disappointment by a game that's so good that it's omission of kinda a vitally important empowerment to the player (in open world immersive RPG genres like these). Funny how it took so many years before Larian and BG3 kind did the fulfillment of what this (and few games like this , as good as this)....promise. Interesting.
