Just don't tell him anything. Like, he didn't even check the spot where he dropped the oil tank. If he doesn't want to explore, then leave him. He just won't get any loot, gold bars, etc and that's his fault for not exploring.

Hugging the borders of an open world can always be interesting to kinda see how they handle it & what they chose to show beyond it. Always also a chance for easter eggs etc

Idk but the lady with the scoliosis looks so much like Yennefer (before her transformation) in The Witcher Netflix. The hair, the way she is hunched and even the face!

you definitely had visitors you weren't aware of, "where'd the doctor go?" is a big concern lol

I really like the feedback you gave at the end and the devs could make really good use out of it (aside from the 'window' thing that they've already mentioned a thousand fucking times in the comments lol). Random chance encounters sounds like a cool idea. And even the idea that if FEMA takes a visitor, you get a game over. They should also make some of QOL improvements as you said, like flesh-out the translation and add an additional confirming-prompt when you click on the fridge, etc. Thanks for playing!

Good thing these “visitors” don’t visit John on red dead redemption two cause that would be a blood bath with the whole dead eye

John played so well without knowing that he missed the consequences hahaha if you have Visitors in your house, they make the monster noises that you heard in the day and eat the people inside. If you kill too many humans, FEMA takes you in for being a danger to society, and the game incentivizes you to have people in your house because it keeps you safe or else the creepy man will take you away if you have no humans home with you. I highly recommend looking out the windows as well! A lot of stuff missed about your neighbour and what FEMA really does. I feel like the Papers Please gameplay is mostly about strategically rationing your energy to interrogate and check signs from the people inside your house during the day more than the exchange outside at night

this is definitely a preachy observation, and only tangentially related to the game, but... i'm kinda bummed how lately half the time a game tries to weird you out by showing off someone with a "weird" body type, it ends up just being a body type you could see IRL on a regular degular disabled person. i really feel like we learned nothing from our "can we stop making horror about mental illness" era, because a lot of it has just progressed to WOULDN'T IT BE SCARY IF SOMEONE LOOKED LIKE A FREAK (disabled)!?!?!?!?! and i'm ngl that sort of fear mongering has led to disabled people being harrassed or injured or even killed before. not that i think one single video game or horror series will lead to murders or anything like that, but more and more i see that sort of mindset normalized through relatively popular horror (this "not quite right visitor" trend is huge right now)... i'm no different than anyone else just because i have a few bone deformities. would one treat their grandmother differently just because she developed a humpback in her old age? anyway, that's all. i don't think this game is too bad about it because they make a point to show that regular people can "look unnerving" (i hate phrasing it this way), so i think it's doing better than most are, minus the first girl with scoliosis (that one made me pretty upset as i have the same condition) but it's sad that this is a subversion of expectation compared to other games or horror series. anyway, that's all. fun game so far, i hope to see john play the full game down the line!

Glad you played this, John! :) I thought I already remembered you playing this, but apparently there was a demo so maybe I was as remembering that. I really really like the puzzle gameplay and the combination of solving puzzles in "real life" using the show (apart from the weather one, which forced too much repetition and made it annoying), and making it a Dora the Explorer type show with the "host" doing that "interact with the kids/viewers" thing was fun! That video with the little girl vanishing and Amanda mentioning something that had just happened was very eerie (so was the second "accidents" tape with the player forced to be complicit in hurting Wooly and her getting dismissive and telling the viewer to go, she could do it herself). The weakest part, apart from the weather puzzle, was probably Amanda floating and acting all possessed, it was a little too much lol. I loved hearing John drawing on his experience as a dad to a small kid playing this, it made it super funny to hear him having flashbacks from some of it 😂

I think they should add a way to prevent you from skipping tutorial cause I see a lot of people skipping tutorial accidentally by drinking the beer first.

The translation is poor enough that it impedes the game quite a bit. The atmosphere and concept is great, but there are some elements missing that connect actions and consequences, like John says in the end. I'm not saying everything needs to be written out and obvious, but there needs to be more than what's here to make for a more intuitive experience. Also the window thing that others are mentioning is a bummer cause they should have been openable from the beginning

you already know some guy heard that green daba dee daba die joke and disliked the video in a blind rage i remember there was a guy complaining in another section like "i thought john WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DIFFERENT THAN OTHER KZbinRS! oh I've been waiting for you to get to this reveal. Once you know it's bcoming the reveal has been building for a while. But it's nearly impossible to guess for the first time, because how often does a game have the guts to have a lasting consequence that you have to deal with? And for it to come tens or hundreds of hours into a game when you're emotionally attached to your player character? Woof. Your engagement with the game led to a perfect reaction to that moment.

Looking out the windows really ISN'T that important. Here's what happens: - You see some teenagers, then they die the next night. - You see your neighbours house, later on it burns down. - You see a creepy guy, then you see soldiers, then you see the creepy guy surrounded by dead soldiers. Powerful creepy guy! There, the "world building" is done. Also, this game COULD be good with some actual proof reading and editing and not whatever half-assed thing they decided to do instead.

So, if you flip through Arthur’s journal, you’ll see his handwriting start to become more and more illegible as he seems to be struggling with his illness leading up to the diagnosis. He’s also become more pale and overall more underweight since chapter 1. It’s an added detail that’s easy to miss.

Yo, listen up, here's the story about a guy named John that lives in a green world and all day and all night and everything he sees is just green like him, inside and outside green his house with a green little window and a green corvette and everything is green for him and himself and everybody around cause he ain't got nobody to listen

This looks really cool. I didn't know you could check the windows so it didn't bother me any I actually disagree with John a bit. I liked how abstract the dialog was. I thought it was purely an artistic decision I didn't realize there were translation issues I think it made it much eerier And also I'm pretty sure the masked people are just helping the aliens along while john is tricked into killing humans But idk why I'm getting that vibe. Just feel like there's a you were bad all along thing coming

4:25 That is 100% a dodgy translation from Russian to English. They use the word 'кабинет' (ka bi nyet) to refer to an office/study. But google translate converts кабинет literally to cabinet.

I'm sure people will say something about not checking the windows but I hope that means you do a second run of the game. I just really want to see more of this game, truthfully.
