I've been practicing for years now. Took a months of lessons. Upwards 1000 hours of practice and still not one inch closer to vibrato. Feels like there's just some underlying tension in my nervous system that just makes it impossible for me. Was watching the Letterman performance of Sia singing Soon We'll Be Found and how she just lets it go at the chorus and it just "spins like a top." Maybe it's just Sia's special, but would love to have my voice be able to do that.

It took me years of singing lessons to get vibrato, and the lessons were not about getting vibrato. They were just about good singing technique. I feel like something is relaxing within me when I start vibrato, but I couldn't tell you exactly what that is. I'm by no means a master of it, but it is improving over time. A lot of musical theatre singing of specific notes starts off straight and then introduces vibrato at a point. When that happens, you can hear a subtle change in the timbre. It might help to try to replicate that subtle timbre change; I think I perceive that same timbre change in my own voice when I sing and manage to get vibrato going. Some people can just do it! I think they are very lucky.

Is it possible to LOSE vibrato? I used to have it in my 20s and in my early 30s I barely have any now😢

Ive always had vibrato as a younger trained singer, now at 30 im trying to sing again and I’ve noticed my vibrato has gone wonky and just doesnt sound as appealing and natural to me as it once did
