I have never sang publicly but I have been asked to sing at and with my lil brother's wedding and I am sing your video's to practice... I am actually hearing a difference and from not being able to really sing the song in question (quavering, sort of "frayed" sounding voice - it is in a really low key/tone!!) I have, after doing the exercises in the other video about how to sing low, I can hit it, no problem... it just happened this evening and I am absolutely mindblown at the sound that's coming out of my face. Thanks a million, what you teach is saving my life and my nerves :D

As an opera singer I found this video very interesting. Operatic vibrato, ie the natural vibrato is created when there is total freedom and openness from where the sound is created in the diaphragm, up through the throat, over the soft larynx and out of the mouth. What you are teaching of course is a very different technique. I would call it more of a contrived vibrato, but an effective technique.
@sodakelp6 жыл бұрын
This was very helpful! As a young singer studying opera, I wanted to develop my voice in a way that would improve my singing later. Vibrato was always very hard for me, but the way you taught helped me understand very easily and for that I say thank you! 😁

You are the most comprehensive person I ever met. You teach me more in 5 mins than what I have been looking for in 20 years. True story is that I am a seriously disabled hearing person now, also shit old (53). I always loved music to the serious extent. Working in the music shops customize guitars so they get their "signature" sound (ppl were crazy get vintage pickups installed) but too busted ears to make it a real profession. Used Digital stuff from Yamaha just to stem them. (But I gave em e hell stemming Gibson bass with London horns). Anyway, I love singing. But it is not easy. Not clearly hear my own tone or NO vibrato. TODAY I discovered it. Thanks to YOU. Now just practice. Thank you! Tusen takk!

Im a singer and have been since I was little and have never been capable of doing a vibrato and i was told it was because my full range wasn’t there yet...but when i started musical theatre many girls my age could do them...I tried every day (incorrectly) and still couldn’t produce one even if i forced it! I came across this video a few weeks ago and did these exercises only once for about 15 minuets, i started singing and i could hear a vibrato, i practised for the rest of the day and literally the next morning I could do a perfect vibrato...I went from not being able to do one at all, to not being able to stop! thankyou so much for this video it helped alot! xxxx

My mother was a singer when she was younger, so I grew up learning her vocal techniques by ear. You can do it, everyone! If you really can’t get it, try to listen to vibrato in songs very specifically (musical theater or opera works best) and just imagine the way you would create that noise using the techniques in the video. That’s what most of the girls in my choir do, anyway. You really do get much better with practice.
@DestinyHopeLou8 жыл бұрын
Vibrato came to me kind of naturally. At some point it was just there. But I don't know if I'm doing it right because while I can hit it at most notes, certain notes I just can't get it right. Is that normal or can your video help me achieve it whenever I want?
@ginautami48318 жыл бұрын

DestinyHopeLou I've been trying but i just cant produce vibrato.Do you feel like a shake in your throat or something ?How does it feel while you're producing it?
@am-hd7vd7 жыл бұрын
It depends, not being able to use vibrato for certain notes can really be just about the strength your voice has. You may be able to sing the note out but if you don't have the strength to back it up your vibrato will fall flat. Try doing scales more, and exercises that help switch from low, mid, and high range to get the strength you need. Good luck!!
@chimera77357 жыл бұрын
+Gina Utami I can't do that !! So sad..
@JLogg4447 жыл бұрын
It isn't easy to sing vibrato at very high pitches but you also need to make sure you have proper support when singing high to be able to sing vibrato with those high pitches. Sometimes you might hear singers sing a very high and long note before dropping down a note or two to continue holding the phrase with vibrato. So if you can't sing vibrato with a note, try use more support or drop down a few notes and see if vibrato works there and then work on trying to use vibrato at higher pitches. And if you can't use vibrato at the low end of your range, that's pretty normal because even for me it's not that easy to use vibrato at a very low register. It's possible but not very easy. Hope that helps =D

Wow thanks. I just learned that the vibrato I always sort of could do is the real way to do it. I thought I was doing it the 'fake' way, too forced you know. I thought a vibrato didn't involve diaphragm, but just pure technique from the vocal chords or something. Something that only professional singers could do. Haha, thanks.

As beautiful as you are, that beautiful is the lesson. Thank you. It gives satisfaction in life when we see people so much involved in what they do, especially for others!

"What is vibrato?" Madeleine: "It's a fancy way of saying an oscillation between two pitches simultaneously" 😂 That "fancy"-part of the sentence, sure got stuck in my throat for a second

What this lesson did for me is way more than what any other youtube video and my previous vocal coach (I only had one because I can't afford it, but I swear, when I'll have the money, I'll pay for new lessons) did. Really! I understood everything. Now I understand how it works and I don't hate my voice that much. Definitely subscribing and thank you for your videos!

I am a music therapy student that has just recovered from a long term illness. Since then during voice lessons Ive had difficulty singing with vibrato. Thanks to your exercises I think I might have a chance to build one up. My breath support is not what it used to be before my illness but I pray this work. I have Jury’s in a couple of weeks.

How do u have a good stage presence when singing???? Please answer.
@MadeleineHarveyVoice8 жыл бұрын
HI Tiffany! Thank you for your question! Think of stage presence as ...The quality of your BEING that is behind all your DOING. It depends largely on your comfort level and how connected to yourself you are. Presence is what people respond to. When you have learned how to feel comfortable, you are totally in command of your voice. This isn't to say that your voice is perfect, or that everything that comes out is going to sound perfect. It's more of a sense of surrender into the moment. Totally at peace with whatever happens ...completely free and unattached. The voice is CONTROLLED entirely by your nervous system. This means that being nervous about how your voice may sound, or afraid to make a mistake will actually send those electric impulses to your muscles to tighten and that tightening is what inadvertently CAUSES all those mistakes that we may be afraid of making in the first place! When you are open and relaxed, your voice is free to respond to you. But we have to learn how to practice what that feels like too so it can become a habit. I have included a link below of a video I did on confidence. Hopefully, this will help you connect to yourself and feel completely comfortable, confident and in command. I hope this helps! Happy Singing! kzbin.info/www/bejne/bYfNfalsjtpqa6c

Tiffany Joy If you still want another answer, stage presence in simpler terms is sort of like being comfortable enough to suck people in. Think about if I just stood there and did twinkle twinkle little star with my arms at my side and staring at the ceiling. Obviously you aren't going to attract very many people. But, say you sing twinkle twinkle little star and you are dancing and visually engaging with the audience, smiling and seeming to have fun. Then you have a good stage presence and people will be attracted to you. As for how to develop it, like Madeleine said, you really need to be comfortable. Focus on giving eye contact to as many people as you can. Smile in the happy songs, close your eyes in the sad ones, feel the music. Basically, get into it and others will get into it with you! Hope this helps!

I like your choice of the word "surrender". I have many times experienced how the acceptance of what I think is bad and ugly in my own performance, makes me to reach out and attract the audience.

Excellent answer. Speaking as a professional entertainer, I concur. Presence is what they respond to. The unspoken message is, "Hey, I'm present. Come join me in this moment." Animals and nature are constantly offering this unspoken message. People respond to your own enjoyment of what you are doing. You loving it, clears a pathway to them loving it. One evening I was singing for a large group of people and they were there to talk to their friends not to listen to me (which can be a drag). It's kind of like kissing someone who is bored with your kisses. Then the words, "I love it when it is like this" popped into my head and I thought, "Really Carson, what's your problem. You're basically getting paid to practice. It doesn't even matter if you make a mistake because no one will notice. You could be grateful to be here." Something shifted and I began playing for my own enjoyment, rather than for their approval. Then (not that I needed this in order to be happy) people began to notice me over there having a good time and started listening. So, in this case, my stage presence was reflected in my own ability to enjoy myself.

i did this and right after i started singing. usually i would kindof have to force an unnatural vibrato but after i did the exercises, i heard a little vibrato in my voice! i can't wait to see how it will sound after i've done it for a month
