Strange looking instrument for sure. It seems very well made but I will ask the question…why?..wow over $3500 but it is almost scientifically made so it is worth the money. The sound is quite nice when played together. I have enough trouble with our 4 string ukuleles and 6 string guitars . I really don’t need this. Another option for the tuning of the harp section is in a downward scale: F-E-D-C. With a low G on the fretted neck, that gives you a huge extension downward in melodic possibilities. I built my first harp uke last fall, and it took me a couple of weeks to arrange a piece to play on it and then learn to play it. There’s definitely a learning curve to get accustomed to extending your thumb to hit those bass notes.

I don't know what to say, I'm gobsmacked! I would LOVE to see a standard yuke, without the harp addition but this is probably the most amazing instrument I've ever seen. I could gain a LOT of satisfaction just LOOKING at it - it could hang in the Louvre and attract a crowd - it's almost abstract. Wonderful! Great review! I thought about getting one last year but went with the Virtuo guitar instead since I wouldn't really have a clue how to play uke with a harp. 🙂I agree they should make a tenor uke without the harp extension.

What an amazing and fascinating instrument. Definitely not a casual player, more one to lock oneself in a room practicing for a few years, before bursting out to wow people with something classical or instrumental jazz. Not something I can even picture myself having the skill for, but I’m delighted it exists.

Awesome review. So interesting. I am thinking I once saw a wood version of this and there was a comment about the harp strings adding “Reverb” without actually plucking them. Curious if you noticed same thing

I laughed out loud. Just yesterday, literally was playing Johnny Cash on a harp uke. These are cool. I don't own one but I fell in love with the idea of them because I tried one of these at a music store. As far as tuning it's very much a dealer choice. I try to match the low strings to root notes for certain chords in a song

Holy moly .... gosh. Melting ... what a beauty. As boater I know Carbon from yacht building and rigging. Living on a boat all year I cant have a normal wooden instrument on board. Extreme high moisture quickly wood can start rottening if not varnished well. So carbon / plastic like the Flight Travelling Ukuleles might be the right thing. This Harp Ukulele is outstanding. Tks for the review. Will have to reshape my finances ... 2150-3500 EUR (with wood veneer) is a serious number. Hehe.

Do you have an audio interface? If you have it, I would recommend plugging electrical ukulels in there to test the pickup, it would be the cleanest way to listen to them. Best regards 💚💚💚

Yes, but also have some very nice amplifiers. Not sure I see the difference? Either way, the LR Baggs Element is a superb pickup and sounded every bit as good as I thought it would

My finger has been hovering over an emerald guitar for years now, at one time they did a speacial every month in a range of models using all sorts of amazing vineers that made my mouth water but I'm no where near the standard playing guitar to justify that expense bit I was sooooo tempted. The synergy uke though too niche for me and I agree they should offer carbon fibre ukes with a choice of vineers in baritone size, that is what u said wasn't it?🤔😉😂

It would as you said be interesting to hear it played by a person skilled in handling its rather awkward design. Curious to hear how I compares to something like a Nova Pro tenor with a low G string. There are so many exotic stringed instruments used by different cultures. Is a ukulele harp combo unique to Ireland?

Can't see much comparison to a Nova Pro Tenor - four extra drone strings! No, not just Ireland. aNueNue make one and recall one or two others.

I listened on KZbin to Jan Laurence playing Scarborough Fair on an Anuenue version to hear how it sounds expertly played and how he handles it. He plucked the bass strings individually while finger picking the uke strings. Obviously requires some concentration but the results are quite nice.

I think the majority of buyers of these sort of things don't actually play them that much, much the same as the double-neck ukes. They appear to be a good idea, but it would take a lot of work for you to learn how to play it, and I think a lot of people give up. Kudos to those who do learn, and there are some amazing players out there of these sort of things.

Not at all for me, and I went to their website and was disappointed to see only harp ukuleles - no straight baritones or tenors. But then I looked at their guitars and fell flat-out in love.

This is a review of primarily a dedicated, specialist professional's instrument that is completely out of the price range of any ukulele enthusiast. I wouldn't touch it with any proverbial to be honest. I've got and heard better sounding tonally ukuleles than this one. However, in your final conclusions, you opine this point and suggest if Emerald could stick to the carbon fibre ukuleles, they might have a selling point in their unique carbon fibre instruments.

Hmmm Does that mean I shouldn't review it? That seems an odd position. Incidentally I know a few people who own these - none of them are uke professionals. all are 'ukulele enthusiasts'. I also know a few people who are about to buy one. Again, not professionals.
