It’s a luthier built concert made by Kevin Mulcock of KM Ukuleles in South Wales. One of the nicest concert ukes I’ve ever played

Hi Barry: I bought one of these in like new condition at a flea market for $22.00 a month ago. Great deal but only problem with it are as you indicated the tuning pegs are not very good and slip. Any advice on what type of grover pegs or other brand would fit this model? Would prefer not to have to drill new holes. Will to spend $50.00 on new really good tuners. Thank you for any advice Pete

I appreciate having your take on these amps, it really helps to have your perspective as both a guitar and ukulele player. I see that Vox has just recently (or so I think) come out with an amp called the Ukulele 50, and there’s also the much older Yamaha THR-5a, I wonder if you’ll take a crack at either of those at some time? Thanks.

Thanks for the great review, Baz! I have the original TUSL and am considering this (or the Outdoor or the Enya Nova soprano) as a hardy travel instrument. How do you think this compares to the Enya in particular? (Is it heavier and/or longer than the Outdoor?)
@JoanKSX4 күн бұрын
I personally think Liuqin is a better solo instrument then. Hmmm Is there something wrong with the nut or frets or so? Something just sounded so off.
@GotAUkulele4 күн бұрын
Liuqin?
@JoanKSX4 күн бұрын
@GotAUkulele Yup. Looks like a tear drop shape / pear shaped Pipa but much smaller size and played with plectrum since it uses steel strings. Pipa uses nylon strings with lower tension than Liuqin and played with 5 fake plastic nails. Yup, it's 5 fake nails and they have a special tremolo technique that I guess other instruments don't have and I heard my friend said she has learn that 5 fingers-tremolo at least 1 year just to master that particular technique. Not sure about the other Pipa player though.

I’m a total newbie to ukulele playing. This is a solid body instrument, so do I need a humidifier for it or not in the case? Thanks for the review.
@GotAUkulele5 күн бұрын
Unlikely - wont split on the body - but extreme dry conditions can do things to necks. Actually very few people DO need humidifiers and many OVER humidify - this explains! www.gotaukulele.com/2015/05/should-i-worry-about-ukulele-humidity.html
@robdangerfield71295 күн бұрын
I always play with a pick unless I'm finger picking. My Aurora hasn't any scratches. They have a pretty hard wearing gloss finish. I'm not sure if I want a steel string uke, I would really have to play one before buying I think.

I'd be interested in one of these for my "uke garage", if it wasn't for those pesky kids constantly counting how many ukes we have in the house already... Kids for ukes trade-ins, there's an idea! 😂 Merry Christmas Baz, have a lovely time with your family. Bet they don't mind your own uke garage. Looking forward to '25.

Another great review. I bought a Noah Baritone a couple of months ago and absolutely love it. Recently changed the strings for DAddario EJ87B and I personally prefer the sound with the DAddario strings, slightly more percussion if that makes sense. Thanks for reviewing it.

Great review to end the year on. I like the instrument, I like Noah, and the fact Phil’s endorsement is authentic - after all, it’s one he’s specced as you say, and played in performances. That counts for a lot (the same goes for the Millar Phil Doleman soprano). It’s a baritone that’s not too guitarish, which stands out. I appreciate what you do, and Merry Christmas (if you celebrate)!

Great finish to your 2024 reviews. Have thoroughly enjoyed every one. I don’t play baritone, but for the money, NOAH certainly know how to make serious instruments for really great money. May I wish you and yours a fantastic festive season and I look forward to the top 10.

To those sending posts saying ‘it’s not in tune’ - watch the video - it’s tuned with a strobe tuner. The strings are brand new and only been with me for matter of days - possibly still stretching. There is nothing wrong with the instrument.
