I'm a reactor watcher, and a big fan of S;G. I've watched like AoT on 10 different channels probably, but never watched S;G reaction on a single channel. And i think this show is better to watch it solo, not the best to record a reaction series (for example: just as there are games that are enjoyable to watch on Twitch, and games that will bore and make no viewers)

this is one of the biggest gems ever! not just for anime but TV-shows in general! it has a slowish start which throws off a lot of people, but its no understatement to call this anime an absolute masterclass!

So, just to put Okarin's eccentric nature into perspective. He's what's called a Chuunibyou (lit. 8th Grader Syndrome) in Japan. To put it simply, he's essentially delusional. It's basically a phase some late middle school to early high school aged kids go through where the act edgy, like they have anime powers, and what not as a form of escapism. Okabe, for reasons you'll learn later, is an exceptional case in that he's still a Chuuni even though he's already 2 or 3 years into his Collage education.

Episode 1 is supposed to confuse you like it did, everything ties itself up into a nice bow by the end. In fact, rewatching episode one after you finish season 1 will make it make perfect sense.

This anime is the exact opposite of death note when it comes yo passing, it's very slow in the first 12 episodes but u will be rewarded for your patience. If u can carry on past the first 12 episodes then u will understand why it's one of the best anime ever made

Right now, because it's the early episodes, I feel like all that's really being introduced is the archetypes of these characters. This is one of those anime that I think actually works better in the english dub. The english voice acting is actually really good and I think its easier to tell what kind of character they're each supposed to be when you can hear the lines delivered in a language you can understand. Especially Okarin... its hard to tell how comically exaggerated he is in japanese, because a lot of japanese anime voice acting has that same kind of flair unironically. So to maybe make it clearer... Okarin (aka Hoein Kyouma, because he wants to go by a pretentious title) is what you might call a "chuunibyou" which is a term that describes like... you know that phase that middle school kids sometimes go through where they'll pretend to be badasses like their favorite fictional characters? But usually it ends up being really cringe because they're middle school children acting like they're hot shit. And especially if they're trying to act like smug pseudo intellectuals, and yet all they're really doing is being kind of a jerk without actually being all that smart... it can be really annoying. That's what Okarin is basically doing. And with the added lame factor of being too old to still act like this. Mayuri is basically just a total sweetheart. She's totally chill going along with all of Okarin's crazy antics, because she knows he isn't a bad guy under all that grandstanding, and she sees what he's doing as a type of play. She likes playing make believe too, in a sense... she does cosplay, and likes anime, and finds Okarin's misadventures to be genuinely interesting. And Daru is more of an otaku type. He's a classic nerd... good with computers, a self proclaimed hacker with some amount of actual skill to back it up, but he also spends maybe too much time online, and will openly say that he prefers 2D women to 3D women. He actually doesn't have terrible social skills if you can get over all the meme-speak and nerd references. As annoying as all of this could be... they feel like a nerdy high school friend group. They're clearly close enough to each other that they won't be mean to each other for any of this the way most other people probably would, and its somehow really cute and endearing. But while all of them will talk a big game, the truth is that they're all a bunch of broke, post-high school kids who are fresh into college, and whose lives are kind of at loose ends. Some might even call them losers... but part of the delusion that they're wrapped up in right now, is the idea that they, alone in their cheap little rental space, can somehow develop functional time travel by fussing around. Nothing about the way they act or appear suggests that this should work... but things are starting to happen. In particular... the things that were shown at the beginning of the episode. Those are things that you can hold loosely in your mind... Okarin barged into a conference. He met that red haired girl. He saw her die. Just put a pin in that.

This is one of the best anime that I have watched in the past. But I still can't recommend it to my friends as it takes a number of episodes before something makes sense. And most of my friends drops their anime after 2 to 3 episodes if they got bored with them. But yeah, this is a good anime, just give it some time and you'll understand everything later on.

G.O.T - Its a masterpiece for sure- but you HAVE to watcht the whole show, - you arnt gonna see that from just a few eps. And you HAVE to pay attention- not like you watched slime! A single line of dialouge could be critical to understand something very important! Its a quite deep anime with a lot going on story / plot / ideas wise! My recomendation is do NOT - EVER - read chat while its playing. Just WATCH the anime! If you want to interact with chat / ask a question- PAUSE the anime while you do so! That is the only way you will EVER get this anime. I think your community was a bit daft voting for this one tbh. They need to vote for anime that can be really enjoyed and laugh along with chat and its not a big deal if you miss 10 seconds here and there.. Stuff like comedy and action sort of shows! I'd of voted for stuff like k-on or GnP!
