As a rl glider pilot myself, I'm really looking forward to this one. As we all know by now, anything GOT in this sim is GOLD. Beautiful flight characteristics in every model they have released IMO. Have a happy new year ! Love from Norway :-)

No real glider experience for me, but it 'feels' natural if that makes sense... feels logical and right in terms of ballence... but thats how i think one should feel....

@@AvAngel Yeah. Airplanes (in general) off balance is a pain in the you-know-where. Without an engine, even more so. LOL Tc :-)

I was confused to see gliding weather presets in the sim that doesn’t yet support soaring. Can anyone explain?!
@Streaky1000012 жыл бұрын
@@johnspurr1792 Those presets are not MSFS default presets, my guess is they've been specifically created by the GOT Friends team to provide a better experience to go with their glider.

In final you have to open spoilers 50% and then adjusting open/close to reach the aiming point. You have to flare at wery wery low altitude or the discus(like all gliders) will continue to fly for the eternity. Speed in final between 95/105 km/h.

This looks great fun already. I wonder how the 2C compares to the old Discus 1 I got to fly occasionally, it was always a fun glider to spin as well. The little target to fly the winch is a cool touch, especially for those who have never flown gliders before. Side-slipping is great fun, I never felt comfortable giving a lot of rudder in the Discus though, it would start to feel a bit unstable. The old wood and fabric K-8 was a side-slipping machine though! With practice you could go full rudder, and full spoiler and come down like a brick. It looked even more impressive from the ground.

I have flown one of the older version, CS, for several years. It is a joy, very responsive. First time I had a little fear of it, especially ln takeoff ( I am quite heavy and had to trim it two notch forward to avoid bouncing, but then I loved it , very responsive and precise even to very little imput. A friend of mine have just purchaised this version and say it is much better with the new wings. This guys have done a wery good work. It looks like the real one. How the flight model will be? I am curious but we can wait two days...
@antonioiozzi2913 жыл бұрын
Yes, with full spoiler the Discus change name and become a Stuka! It happened to me with the third flight. Opened spoilers at quite speed to go down quicker but it was not like the other single seaters ... it dived stright down.... 🤣😂😁

@@antonioiozzi291 Just looked it up, the one I flew was a Discus B. But as I understand it, the only difference between the B and CS is where they were built. I did love flying it though, it was so relaxing and easy to fly. My only regret is that I didn't ask to fly it earlier. I only got about 10 flights in it before I moved and had to stop flying. Hopefully this Discus 2 will keep me entertained till I can start flying again :)

@@timothybird7450 I only fly the CS of my club but a greath young friend of mine one years ago purchaised a very well mantained and equipped 2c. As child he was an avid simmer and soon will come to me to give a try at the new Discus. He always fly 700/1000 km in it at week end. He is very proud of his new bird. I have promised to do his aircraft livery for MSFS in the future.

This plane looks really, really nice. Thank you for bringing it to our attention :) Hopefully someone knowledgeable will create a tutorial for MSFS ...
@antonioiozzi2913 жыл бұрын
Gliders must be flown different from GA planes. They are very sporty and you must show precision and know how to preserve energy. Their efficiency is about four time that that of GA acfts. A tutorial should be a wery big book. I think most simmers will be discouraged if they think to fly it properly from the first flight. You have to go serching thermals, fly near the mountain ridge ( on the updraft side!) And before landing spiralling down in circles to loose height and then on final, only on final open spoilers 50% until you have landed. Once touched down spoilers full open to break. Yust to say a couple of suggestion.
