The singer that does a bunch of the openings (and endings) name is Mai Kurai and she appears in the anime and the manga too!! Just as a little thank you from the autor for doing so much music for detective Conan! Is so sweet ❤ Edit: love how he keeps forgetting Conan was a teenager before he became a kid and he ask if he grown up 😂😂😂😂 like yeah it’s him, and yeah some parts are flashbacks, others he thinking of himself as his adult version and well… the other option well you need to watch the anime 😊

So about the relationship between Conan/Shinichi and Ran (main girl/teenage childhood friend): Very few people in the show know that Shinichi and Conan are the same person and Ran is one of the ones that don't know the truth, only that Conan and Shinichi are "distant relatives", so Ran treats "Conan" as a very smart normal kid, although there are certain times that she suspects the 2 are the same person. The bow-tie you see him talking into occasionally is actually a voice changer, so when you see him talking to Ran with that bow-tie, Conan is actually talking to Ran as his original self Shinichi so she doesn't know she's actually talking to Conan during those times. So there's not really anything "sus" about that relationship in this show. Edit: Also yes that was Big Ben. One of the bigger cases actually takes place in England.

If you want the Relationship between the "Main Girl" and the Protagonist explained: First of all, keep in mind: These openings, animation-wise, just do whatever the heck they want. Save for some minor 1-2 second long cut-ins, nothing in them is from any actual episodes. As for the main Protag couple: Yes, they're in love with each other. It's a point made pretty clear at the start. But once the Protag shrinks, he itnroduces himself to her as a distant relative of himself and tells her that Shinichi, his adult self, is on a very complicated and dangerous case and she needs to wait for him. He hides his identity around her. In sometimes less and sometimes more believable ways - there'll be many shows in the episode handling that "hiding game" and there are quite some developments on it, even if they're far apart, and some of them only hinted at, especially at the later points. SHE thinks of Conan as a "little brother" and doesn't really have anything weird going on with him in his child form. And also, YES Conan can sometimes turn back into his adult self for short periods of time. But there's also quite a bit more to that I won't spoil.

If you want the football-belt explained: Shinichi/Conan used to be a very skilled soccer player. After he was shrunk, he wanted a at least somewhat unsuspicious way to take out criminals in a non-lethal way. So his scientist pal made him a belt that blows out a football, and modified shoes that amplify his kicks (which would be way weaker as a child than when he was an adult), and he then uses that combo to kick a ball into criminal's faces at ridiculously high power to knock them out. And sometimes for other misecllanious stuff.

I was talking about Movie 22 “Zero the enforcer”, I know that was Akai that took the helicopter down in the end, but Conan gave it a nice shake-up😂😂… Just to say that potentially he could destroy almost anything and if our hero isn’t careful enough, the skull of our everyday criminal could turn into a pulp😰😂 In conclusion that belt and those shoes should be classified as a weapon of mass destruction and Agasa should be arrested as a war criminal😂. I left this comment under your other “Detective Conan” video, but I was a bit late and you probably didn’t see it, so I’m gonna repost it… Cheers mate, I love your reactions and I love detective Conan, so what else could I ask for???😅❤️ Hi, Detective Conan fan here, I started watching it when I was 7, now I’m 23 and I’m still here, not missing a single episode… Without a doubt MY FAVORITE AND THE MOST UNDERRATED ANIME EVER To answer to some of your questions: 1) Regarding the “filler episodes”, if you are a mystery fan as much as I am, you’ll love every single episode, and overtime the cases keep getting better and better… I love to watch this show in an “active way” always trying to solve the mystery before Conan does… You’ll never get bored, because YES, in EVERY episode, filler or not, there’s a case to be solved, whether it’s a murder (the majority I’d say 70% or more) a robbery, a kidnapping, even a bombing… The “non filler” episodes, the ones people consider “the only important ones” are focused mainly on this fight with this “Evil Organization” (I’ll be vague) and going on this will be more focused on action (the mystery is always present though)… But I really enjoy the filler episodes because they make you appreciate the dynamics and growth of the characters (some of them remain “static” but others evolve A LOT, in spite of the fact that In DC time doesn’t pass (it could seem weird, but in my opinion is essential) 2) It made me laugh so hard when you called my favorite character (yes, she is, hands down my favorite character) “suspicious” saying that “she could be either 6 or 30….” I mean… You’re kind of right there…🤔🤔🤔😂😂 3) After over 1100 episodes, 27 movies (yes every year in April a DC movie comes out, and all of them are beautiful but others are simply MAJESTIC), many specials etc. Only about 4/5 people (including his parents) know about Conan’s true identity. 4) Yes, Detective Conan is VERY popular in Japan (I mean, even an airport is named after the GOAT😂)… I’d say (in Japan) on One Piece levels or probably even more… In recent years DC movies have been constantly one of the most (if not) the most watched movies in Japan cinemas 5) The cases keep getting better and better overtime, but the first 70/80 or so got like a thriller, almost horror aura, to them (I remember watching them as a kid and being terrified) but the episode called “The 100 million yen robbery”, (episode 134/35 or something like that, I don’t remember exactly) IS A “MUSHOKU TENSEI STYLE” TURNING POINT… IT’S THERE WHERE THE STORY REALLY STARTS (and I still cry remembering it even after all these years…😪) In conclusion: should you react to it? YES, AND YOU’LL DEFINITELY LOVE IT IF YOU GIVE IT THE RIGHT TIME!!! Sorry for writing such a long comment, especially considering that you’ll probably never going to read it, considering the number of comments here, but I wanted to write it anyway, because I really do love this anime more than anything else… Am I a bit too passionate about it? Yes, it’s true… It’s been going on for almost 30 years, but even now there are still characters that we know almost nothing about, like Vermouth (which is one of my favorite characters) and there are still “darks points” from almost 1000 episodes ago that haven’t been cleared yet… I just hope that they are able to make the show progress nicely, and above all a great finale (as late as possible😅😂❤️)

Shinichi the MC was "poisoned" and turned into a child, thats Conan so whenever you see the guy that's Conan as his 16 year old normal self Conan has a lot of gadgets to catch criminals and stuff ^^ 1. voice-changing bowtie - he can dial it on the back to imitate all kinds of voices 2. power kick shoes - since he is a child even if he kicks something it would not have enough power to knock out an adult so the shoes help him with that 3.belt - he can push the button and an inflatable football comes out so he can kick him in the face or whatnot cause sometimes there is nothing "strong" enough just laying around which he can use to catch a criminal 4. glasses - hidden mircophone to listen in on conversations, zoom and enhance, tracking due to a radar in it 5. wristwatch - flashlight, has a tranquilizer dart in it to put people to sleep 6. turbo engine skateboard 7. detective boys badge - conan and his friends all have one and they are just like walkie-talkies 8. transmitter - disguised as a button, he can put them on things and people and can then track them with his glasses 9. elasticity suspenders - can lift heavy objects and sometimes...he just uses them to bungee jump off buildings to save himself or someone else :D 10. Earring cellphone - literally an earring as a cellphone 11. button speaker - he can attach it to a person to solve crimes from a distance 12. cuff link speakers - similar to the button speaker and the glasses he can use them to listen in on conversations Hope that answers your question :D

When you mentioned the shift towards romance in later openings, in addition to being a mystery show, Detective Conan has lots of romantic subplots, While most of it is focused on mystery, there are a lot of romantic subplots, I counted 10 different ones. Also even in the episodes that focus on the romance, there’s still a mystery going on that needs to be solved during them. Also yes the show does get incredibly dark, the mystery in the first episode revolves around a decapitation.

Detective Conan Rule #1: The Openings DO NOT represent sh*t about the series. Yes, it has quite a lot of romance. Besides actual crime solving and mystery, it's probably the number 2 Schtick of the show. But even that romance is not quite as cheesy as it is in the openings. I repeat: The openings just do whatever the heck they want, and whoever picked them really loves romance songs. Most of these weren't MADE for Detective Conan, but just picked for it.

To answer some questions: -The anime itself does not change focus that much as the openings make it look, it is still a mystery first and foremost ^^ -The relationship between Conan and Ran is not as sus in the anime as the openings make it look, the openings make a loooot of the shots more symbolic. Ran (the love interest) does not know Conan is Shinichi and she treats him like a normal child, so I would say that outside the openings, the show handles the "gray area" that could exist with the setup quite well by not falling into it ^^

Don't worry about the romance in this show, it has nothing weird or controversial, Ran (the heroine) and Shinichi (the protagonist) are in love with each other, Shinichi shrinks into a child's body and introduces himself as Conan because he has to keep his real identity a secret, circumstances lead Ran and her father to take Conan into their home, and she treats him as a younger brother thinking that he's a distant relative.

Yes my favorite character, Kuroba Kaito aka Phantom Theif Kaito KID. Like someone else said he does have his own anime but it wasnt ever finished sadly but its very good. Its funny that shinichi (conan originally)'s jp va also voices Kaito. So they do have some gags when kaito pretends to be shinichi.

As far as "dark themes" in DC go: Overall, this series is seriously a jack of all trades. But yes. There are also quite some genuinely dark moments. Both picture-wise (although it's never portrayed in a needlessly gore-y way), and also story-wise. One of the current "main characters" was genuinely ready to sacrifice children and colleagues just to get a small shot at revenge. Like not just "she did something where they could have been endangered", no. She genuinely got some of the most skilled Assassins to shoot at them while she lied in hiding to shoot back at the assassin.

Since the gang is very dangerous, only a few people know that he has shrunk, as his real name is Shinichi Kudo. After his shrunk, he took the name Edogawa Conan and seeks to capture the members of this gang, but they are dangerous people and have Great influence and surrounded by mystery As for the girl, she is his childhood friend and they love each other, but she does not know that he has shrunk because he did not tell her so as not to expose her to danger. 5:10 Yeah, when this awesome opening is running, shit is going down in the story. Foreign agencies getting involved, not knowing who is enemy or friend... it is great. At this point you know wich agency it is what plays a major role, so they do not hide it anymore and therefore the logo of it is filling the entire screen. 7:50 Yes, it is a magician and more. I like the episodes where he showes up. As it should😂 No, seriously I don’t want to start any war, it’s just that Ai has been my favorite character since she appeared… Her character evolution is just fabulous (one of the rare cases in the series of a REAL personality development) and beyond that I identify myself with her under many aspects, so it’s only natural for me to love her Ran well… She’s a sweet girl, I admit that, but that’s all she is really… I’ve always felt indifferent towards her (I don’t like her, meaning that she’s not a character that makes me go “WOW!”, but I don’t particularly hate her either) though I will say that lately she’s becoming slightly more “annoying” and in general she is quite a dull character with no impact on the plot whatsoever… I mean, no offense, but I feel like especially lately you could very well put a tree instead of her and no one would really notice😂 That said that’s only my opinion and everyone is totally free to love the character they like the most👍😉 For me it’s just AI HAIBARA, THEN, NOW, FOREVER❤️

She is Conan(age 7)/Shinichi’s(age 17) love interest. 3. Haiabara (age 7)Shiho(age 18) is the girl with short hair. 4. The thin mustache guy is Kogoro Ran’s dad. 5. The library looking person is either a teacher at Conan’s elementary school or Eri Ran’s mom. 6. Ran is in high school and Conan is in 1st grade. Both go to separate schools. 7. Don't let the Opening songs deceive you, since they're not representing of what's happening during the time the Openings are playing in all those episodes. Every episode is a mystery, which most of them are murder related cases. There's only a very few episodes that are pure mystery of finding the cause of something strange happening without any crime happening. The romance is tied-in and the mysteries are the main focus. It's just that the romance parts are often before or after said mystery are solved. Also the reason why that 2nd song in this video (Ai wa Kurayami no Naka de by ZARD) was so much darker if not the darkest Opening showcase of all, is because of the Arc it went into with all that juicy Good Guys Vs Bad guys spanning across around 14 episodes. Normally those kind of encounters are spanning between 1-3 episodes, but this one spanned across 14 consecutively episodes. At the same time, the previous and first Opening of this video (Glorious Mind) sung by same artist ZARD, passed away making that song her last recorded song, which was actually even unfinished. But the team had some pre-recorded tracks of her singing the song, and thus put together the song we now know. RIP ZARD 🙏 On another side note, later on there's also another band called "SARD UNDERGROUD" (although they only sung for the Ending songs), which are heavily influenced by said ZARD and are a tribute band towards her to even covering some of her songs (ZARD was an outstanding popular artist, even outside the serie). B'z, Kuraki Mai, GARNET CROW, BREAKERZ are all artists who have sung a lot for the serie since early days until present.

The second opening you saw was geared for one of the most intense story arcs in the entire series that was completely dedicated to the Main Storyline, which involved Conan's brush with the main bad guys from the Black Organization, undercover agents from the FBI, and even the CIA, known as The Clash of Red & Black, eps. 491-504. But no newbie should ever just jump into the series by watching The Clash of Red & Black first. You have to move through the series chronologically in order for everything to make sense, and for you to get the proper emotional high/pay-off from that arc!

No spoilers: The entire Conan anime is trying to discover and catch the black organization, who made Shinichi become a child, but the plot progresses very slowly, very slowly. Characters who appear in black or carry weapons are usually more actively involved with this black organization. Good or bad, their identity and purpose swings in which it easily takes us years to know if this character is on our friendly side or on the organization's side. Conan has always been pretty dark since there are murders, kidnappings and attacks every episode, but it's definitely getting deeper and deeper into the black organization. There are even videos on YT that compile episodes about the black organization. XD

the mysteries and the overarching plot revolving around the "bad guys" are certainly the main focus but romance does play a role in the series as well though they are fairly rare and among multiple different couples with completely other characters the majority of episodes are case focused though. As per the romance part just a childhood friend but she is unaware that is who Conan is and to her Conan is just his relative that she largely treats as her kid brother and has no romance towards Conan,the bowtie scenes is just him using a voice changer to sound like he did before he shrunk down and she is oblivious to this information but also uses the bowtie related to solving cases also. as per the football that is cause he was a good football player before he got shrunk down and also has a gadget that lets him kick the ball harder as well.

Answering a couple questions you had. Not sure if it helps with the icecream bars you were thinking about, but it sounds a lot like those old Mickey Mouse head icecreams they used to sell and have actually started being sold again. About Big Ben's tower and the statue of Liberty showing up in a couple openings, there were storylines in London and in New York City. Now for a recommendation, if you want a taste of Detective Conan without having to commit to the more than 1000 episodes I suggest watching one of the movies. The movies are stand alone stories that give you a good explanation of who people are and what the series is about. Having so many episodes scare people away from getting into some anime, but Detective Conan's movies are almost engineered as entry points for new fans.

Conan's voice actor hasn't ever changed except for when he's in his original 17yr old body whether in flashbacks or otherwise. It's just that for the episode introductions the va stopped adding a childish tone 🥰

You will love this anime. It's a good family-friendly story about murder and other such crime. The only mystery we never solve is why the kids are allowed to hang with Conan when they get kidnapped and see so many dead bodies as a result.

MY theory is that after the first case or two when the kids got bawled out by their parent for worrying them, they probably got real good at hiding a lot of their more dangerous adventures from their parents. I think Doc Agasa covers for them a lot, just as he covered for Shinichi by not immediately contacting his parents in America to let them know what had happened to their son.

conan is originally a teen... a bad guy forced to eat some type of drug which supposed to kill him but it shrunken him instead... the bad guys didn't know he still alive, and he can return to his original teen sel, IF certain are condition are met but not for a long time... only the girl with the gun, the old man with white hair, the guy with the black skin and the guy with his close all the time know his true form...

Don't worry Luke, the love interest Ran doesn't know that Shinichi (Detective Conan) is the same little boy. She's been led to believe that he's a relative and she lovingly treats him like her little brother. However, there is a lot of longing for Shinichi to come back from the long case that he's on (that's the cover story for him being missing) and there are a lot of complicated feelings of Shinichi still loving her but being unable to express it or tell her the truth about his situation. Hence a lot of the romantic undertones

I have 2 pairs of glasses. Normally you pick a frame that fit's you. But sometimes a thing happens that if you pick the frame when you have longer hair and than you cut your hair... your glasses miss the tiny bit and they fall down your nose a fair bit more. I have one pair that does not fall and the other that does. The difference in the frame is minimal. So yeah. Connan can not turn into his adult form at will. The magican is amazing and has it's own series.

It is always about the mystery quite heavy handedly... but their relationship is quite hard on both of them since they are on completely different waves since "not" girlfriend from like 17 years ago is so close to him but he can't do anything about it.. and from her perspective her "not" boyfriend from 17 years is missing and despite having clues about him every now and then she never ever gets to actually understand what is going on and why he is gone...

He is a teen but forced to take a drug to make him a child. The one they keep showing who looks "sus" to you IS the love interest but they are actually the same age, but because she does not know this, treats the child version like a little brother, but the teen is her childhood friend....I don't know if that makes any sense actually haha

YES I have been looking Forward to Part 2 of the Conan Op Reactions! There are some bangers in this one. And yea some of the Op are qeird about the romance. First of all the main focus of the show are weekly mysterys but there are also some overarching mysterys. There is also Sometimes focus on romance but there is Always at least a weekly murder or Something. And the Romace isnt that weird and sus as it is portrayed in some of the Op's. Ran and Shnichi(adult/17year old Conan) are childhood friends and in love with each other. She doesnt know Conan is Shinichi and sees Conan as a little brother and she doesnt do anything weird towards Conan. All the romance is between Shinichi and Ran. And like I said there is always a mystery aspect with at least a murder or Something or the overarching story against an evil Organisation where there is now also stuff like the Fbi involved. But Romance is part of the series but its not as weurd and sus as potrayed in the Op. You said Something about if tuey travel: it mostly takes place in Japan though they do trips in japan now and again. Though there is one case where they are in London and that one is really important. The seried is very pong so its hard to recommend to react to just because of the length but you could maybe watch some of the movies. They are all stand alone and explain the most important bits at the beginning. Especially the early ones would be easy to eatch as there you don't have to explain much to enjoy the movies. The movies have more action focus than the average Episode.

The first opening might have been an opening for a DC special episode, as it seemed to be themed completely around one storyline involving Ran's mother & father, while a normal DC opening has a usual montage of characters and clips, etc.

The difference in detective conan is that the sponsors are listed in the last few seconds of the openings but still IN the openings... most shows cut to the sponsors right after the opening ends but repeat the music of the ops as background music which makes it easier to remove them...
