Andre Matos was a brazilian singer, pianist, maestro and composer, he was part of the band Viper when he was a teenager (Viper very successful in Japan in the early 1990s), then Angra and then Shaman. Definitely the best voice in Brazilian metal, he was amazing... unfortnelly he passed away in 2019 due to a heart attack, Andre will be missed forever!

Yes Bruce Dickinsons voice is outstanding. I've seen maiden live 4 times and every time I am in awe of them. I'm shellshocked. And yes this guy from Shaman's voice caused the same reaction in me as Bruce.

André Matos was a Brazilian singer, songwriter, conductor, producer and pianist, known for having been the lead singer of the bands Viper, Angra and Shaman. He died in 2019 due to an acute myocardial infarction. His curriculum includes Orchestral Conducting, Musical Composition, Lyrical Singing and Classical Piano. The Iron Maiden comparison is valid, it was their biggest influence. Hi, I'm Brazilian and Shaman is a band from Brazil. Shaman's vocalist is André Matos, he also sang at Angra. He was always known as the Brazilian Bruce Dickison, and was considered to replace himself in Iron Maiden, when Dickinson left in 93 to pursue a solo career. Blaze ended up replacing Dickinson. There is a video, still from Época do Angra, in which Bruce Dickinson participated in the Angra show. He and André shared the stage and sang Run to the Hills and Flight of Icarus together. This show was in Paris in the 90s. You can easily find the video on KZbin, just search for André Matos with Bruce Dickinson.

OMG I write notes while I'm listening to your reactions because I have a rubbish memory. The first thing I wrote was Iron Maiden. Then about 10 seconds later you said it. Iron Maiden are one of my all time favourite bands and you even mentioned Fear of the Dark which is my favourite song of theirs. Can I just say, your posture changed watching this reaction. I could see how empowered the song made you feel. You sat up straighter, shoulders back, chest out, what an incrediibly powerful performance. I feel in such a good mood now 😂

If you liked "Fairy Tale", I believe you will love "Lisbon", which was played at this same show (this song belongs to the band Angra, which André Matos was part of previously), as well as "For Tomorrow" (live in this same show, in my opinion it was the band's most epic performance), there's also "Pride", in which Tobias Sammet (Edguy) participates, "Distant Thunder", "Time Will Come", anyway. Man, all these songs are really worth reacting to each one, because they are epic and unique songs!

Excellent reaction to this great live performance of Shaman. It's my favourite live performance ever, of any music. Andre Matos had the audience eating out of the palm of his hand, and the rest of the band - Hugo Mariutti, Luis Mariutti (brothers on guitars and bass respectively) and Ricardo Confessori on drums were all in TBE zone, too. Wish I could have seen at least one show on this tour live! You should do reactions to Carry On, both Angra and Dan Vasc's versions, Dan Vasc's cover of this song, I Will Return by Andre Matos himself, and The Spreading Soul Forever by Viper. My biggest regret with Andre is that I didn't find his music until after he had passed away. He was so, so good!

Andre was one in a kind. And this is a masterpiece, the way the epic acts blend with unique lovelorn romanticism is outstanding. The lyrics are great too, specially when you know he's not here with us anymore, hearing the "He's turned into sparks that shine with the stars, and by night he will always be there, for his lady to stare, and thus he's never died" just adds a new depth to the whole thing.

You had massive Bruce Dickinson vibes at the beggining of André's singing. That's because Bruce was one of André's great inspirations as a vocalist. In fact, when Bruce Dickinson left Iron Maiden in the 90s, André Matos was one of the finalists at the band's contest for new vocals. According to Blaze Bailey himself, André was the first option of the band and "would do much better than me because he had greater vocal range and could sing higher notes I couldn't", but the band decided for Bailey over André because they thought it would be weird to have a Latino singer in a English band. And, as a Brazilian metalhead, thank God they didn't chose André Matos. As much as it would be priceless to see him, our national pride, in the greatest heavy metal band of all time, we wouldn't have the magnificent album "Holy Land" from Angra or the Shaman albums.
