Chan’s 7 year long training period was tough on him. He saw his trainee friends left the company or debut. For teen this left a lasting impression inside Chan (hopelessness and bleakness). It wasn’t until JYPE recruited new trainees in 2016 (Chan was the only male trainee left at that time) that he started to pick himself up. Han’s talent and bravado must be the light at the end of tunnel. IN was the 2nd one Chan took under his wings (IN was at that time a weekend trainee). Soon Changbin joined JYPE (he was also accepted by YG and SM also but chose JYPE). All three of them are talented, ambitious, and hardworking. They formed 3racha after honing their beat making skill and rap material together before hitting some clubs for open mic nights. They uploaded their pieces in soundcloud but not many ppl noticed them. The whole time they were still going thru training and monthly evaluation. Hyunjin and Seungmin wanted in because Chan’s team always won at evaluation. Felix was a late addition to training because his parents wanted him to finish high school in Australia first (he passed jype audition in Australia when he was 16). Woojin (the departed ex member) left SM when NCT debuted (he trained with them but was cut from debut team) and joined JYPE. Chan then put together his team and a proposal to JYP, asking to debut (management suggested adding a dancer. That was how Lee Know got a call). JYP himself likes Chan’s talent and drive very much (he talked Chan out of quitting when Chan was ready to give up). There must be something really enticing in Chan’s proposal to make the company consider the possibility of having a self producing male idol group. It was a very risky decision because no idol group had been successful without a veteran producer or a team of producers to helm the music. 3racha were merely boys at that time. You can imagine how many obstacles Chan must overcome to get Stray Kids off the ground. Stray Kids’ path is all about falling down and picking self up again. It has all the angst and self doubt (yes, even talented 3racha had moments of doubt). Many of SKZ’s ballads or soft rock songs touch ppl’s heart because the words were true, the sentiment was heart felt. Many long term Stays grew up with the boys, receiving strength and comfort from SKZ songs and what the kids shared about their own struggles. SKZ songs are relatable and real because they wrote them themselves with their blood sweat and tears.

Thank you for this. I didn't know that Chan proposed the idea of a self-producing group to JYP. He is an amazing, brilliant, fearless and humble human being.
@33Jenesis2 жыл бұрын
@@wahn10 What was behind closed doors we won’t know until Chan writes his autobiography. However, based on evidence, Jype chose Chan’s team to debut first (Itzy was the girl team). 3racha wrote 5 songs for survival show. Jyp and in-house producer evaluated the song quality during the show. When it was decided that SKZ would debut, it was also decided that 3racha would be in charge of music. This led me to believe that Chan asked for it. 3racha is very proud of their products despite being trainees and young. Being self producing must be on the bargaining table when Chan presented his idea for his group. 2018/2019 sales were pitiful and skz was unknown in Korea. Thankfully jype sticks to the decision to let skz be on its own musically (3racha chose to work with co-composers and let professional arrangers to arrange). In the West, there are very talented musicians started out producing their own music. In kpop, it is not common. Idols are commodities to make money, not as artists (they are low end in show biz). Their image and products are controlled by management company. SKZ controls its image and self produces from debut is unusual. 3racha’s music is getting mature and more sophisticated. Chan is getting to a point that he can do some arrangements himself. Their music and style are embraced by more and more fans around the world. Most importantly, they are profitable and money making now. It is a bumpy ride but Chan and his members never gave up.

They write a lot of music about mental health. They have all talked about how they've all struggled with it and finding each other saved them. They are good tho. They go through ups and downs and they don't really hide it from us, they want to talk about mental health because they want us to talk about it to them too. Several of them do livestreams and ask us to share our worries with them. It's a huge reason why I love them. ❤

In their songs Stray Kids have always been very vocal about their hardships which makes their music even more relatable. They just have a way of making you feel seen. They do hype songs so well, but the songs they write that focus on mental health are truly something special. One of the members (Han) wrote a song called Secret Secret, and it is one of my favorite songs they have ever done. The lyrics are breathtaking. They also have other songs like Ex and Sorry I Love You that focus more on heartbreak, but they are written in such a well-thought, mature way. I will never get over how talented these guys are!

That's Stray Kids! The special thing about their music is that they have a suitable song for every situation. And when you think you've seen it all, they show you that they are far from reaching their limit. That's why many say that Stray Kids are their own genre. Moreover, they chose their group name for a reason: Stray Kids - people who are lost and searching for themselves. Sometimes you are hopeless and afraid, sometimes you feel that no one understands you, and sometimes you feel like you are on the edge. On the one hand, the members see themselves on this journey to find themselves, which you can follow especially from Hellevator to God's Menu. And at the same time they offer a haven for "Stray Kids"/STAY. It's not without reason that the guys are a safe place for so many people, because not only their music, but also the members are authentic and always give STAY the feeling of not being alone. Stray Kids and STAY have a special heartwarming connection that you can always feel.

One thing about stray kids is even before they debuted they have always been open about their struggles they have many songs with really deep meanings that you don’t expect, they have songs about depression, fear, loneliness (this one), insomnia, and so many more, that is one of the reasons for me at least why I love them dearly is because they have such relatable songs and the lyrics express things that I’ve dealt with that makes me feel comforted knowing I’m not alone. There is actually a song that they have called ‘Cause I Like You’ and it’s two of the members, Changbin and Felix, and the lyrics to it are so special to me and my best friend, we call it our song because the lyrics mainly talk about how they want to see the raw emotions of this person they don’t want them to hide it because they love them for who they are and it’s just very special to me. I hope you continue to dive deeper into stray kids because it really is worth it

The reason they called themselves stray kids is because they wanted to reach out to other 'stray kids' who might be feeling lost like they felt. Tbh I think in a lot of ways they found themselves when they found each other, but as humans we all have these kind of feelings sometimes so they were probably feeling 'astray' when they wrote this but with the intention of reaching out to us who also feel this way so that we know we might be lost but we're not alone. I really love your reactions by the way.

Stray Kids have a lot of these more emotional, deep searching songs, and discovering that side of them tends to convert admirers into hardcore, loyal-forever Stays. Having the courage to look inside and be honest with yourself, is one of the most important steps in healing. For more of this side, try the First Take series--Scars, Slump, and Mixtape: OH. Also look at Levanter, Secret Secret, Neverending Story, Winter Falls, and Sorry I Love You. They are all beautiful songs, and when you look at them the right way, they are full of hope and promise, because they are saying "I had these feelings, and I survived, I have made beautiful music out of them. If you also have these feelings, you are not alone, and you can survive too". I really admire Stray Kids, both as artists, and as human beings who try to be honest and open. Han and Changbin have been open about mental health struggles in their songs and in interviews. Han deals with social anxiety and gets support from staff and other members when they have to be in crowds. Changbin has struggled with depression and says he figured out he needs to be around other people and express his feelings honestly to be mentally healthy. Since mental health issues tend to increase feelings of isolation and "difference", it is very helpful to have public figures admit to their struggles. It is both brave and generous of Stray Kids to write about, record and release these types of songs, especially since they are real works of art, performed with artistry. If you want some good laugh therapy as an antidote to any of their more emotional songs, watch 3Racha (the production subunit of Chan, Changbin and Han) compose a song live over two episodes of Chan's vlive, "Chan's Room", I've got links to the two funniest clips, with good English subs and comments. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ena7oJ-Pqdtmrrc kzbin.info/www/bejne/mnLWmXqpjcmmldU Watch them in that order. Context that makes it funnier: in the first clip, Changbin writes lyrics about himself and gets Chan to sing them. Chan is Australian (thus kangaroo references). And STAY is their fandom. In the second clip, Han writes and records his part of the song. Changbin's nickname is "Dwaekki" which means "Pig-Rabbit" (ie, combo pig and rabbit). This song was NOT intended for release, but enough Stays requested it that Chan put the final touches on it just a few weeks ago, a year after they made it..... Here is the final version of "Can't Live without Changbin" kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIiXqqR5grGkndE There are now running jokes about "I'm fine, and you?" and "Walrus" in a lot of Skz output......

At the beginning of their career Stray Kids experienced many hardships. Their leader Bang Chan was a trainee for 7 years and during this period he saw a lot of his friends debuting or giving up and leaving the company. When the rest of Stray Kids showed up they had to go throug very emotionally draining survival show. After debut they were heavily criticized for producing noise music and called JYPE's (their company) biggest mistake/failure. They were hated for the most silly reasons. In 2019 during a very busy time (world tour, comeback preparations etc.) they lost a member who left from unknown reasons (they debuted as 9 members group, now there's 8 of them). At that time some members suffered from anxiety, one of them broke down at the concert and begged fans to stay with them. The hate only intensified. They have been throug a lot and they're telling their story throug their songs. That's why pieces like Lonely St., Secret Secret, Silent Cry, Phobia and many others hit so hard. Because they know what they're talking about. It's their story. Even now they still have a lot of haters saying disgusting things about them but I think they grew up to not pay attention to them ☺️ Especially because they have tons of loyal fans by their side too ☺️

One of my favorite things to do is watch people's reactions to SKZ so I am constantly looking for new people and I found you yesterday and have been binging your videos. Since this is months old I'm sure someone has already mentioned it but Bang Chan (leader) watches reactions of their videos and I can just imagine how he would take this reaction. I love your live of their talent and emotion. These guys give 110% every single time. They are constantly working. They give us Stays so much material to comb through and adore. There truly is something here for everyone. I have so many friends who adore kpop and while I had heard a couple songs from a couple other groups, I had no interest until I hear Stray Kids. They have captured my attention and held it like no other group. Enjoy the ride, there is so much to come. They make my 47 year old butt want to get up and dance. They also took personal experiences to tap into the emotions for this song. For example Chan had a lot of stress and worry about debuting before he found the other members and Hyunjin felt lonely and that he could see out but couldn't touch during his hiatus. They write about emotional issues and don't shy away from their emotions.

It's okay to cry. Everyone in the world is going through a traumatic time because of the pandemic and some people are also dealing with war, famine, freakish weather disasters, or just the hardships of everyday living sometimes. It's okay to feel it and to cry. But the important thing is no matter how far you get kicked down that you always get back up. That is the final message that KPop gives us all, no matter how hard things are your groups (music in general) can always lift you back up again. You've found the Stray Kids song that hits you. For me it is "Gone Away," it is the most beautiful Stray Kids song to me. Sometimes we need to cry and it can be cathartic to feel that we are not alone. Stray Kids stay with us even in the hard times. Thanks for reacting to them.

You should for sure check out their music video Winter Falls, and get another great look into their vocals. It’s a gorgeous song. Made me cry, might make you cry too lol

that's why and what I love about Stray Kids, they're so original and unique. They really are "a class by itself". They can do so many types of music and sound so amazing. You should definitely check out The First Take where they perform in a single take with their songs: "OH", "SLUMP", "SCARS". It's all about vocals and they surely have them. Their "SCARS" mv is really good too. Other songs you might consider: EX and SECRET SECRET, and Seungmin's solo "HERE ALWAYS", it's a soundtrack from a kdrama "Hometown Cha cha cha". These guys are remarkable!! 🎆💥💕

Slump is also a really emotional song, it was a song they created for the anime Tower of god. But it really does hit you in the feels... But they have a handful of songs like this. Changbin's solo street lights is sooo emotional as well. would love to see you react to these songs as well!

You should listen "Streetlight" (Changbin ft. BangChan of Stray kids). That song is so emotional.

Oh, so heartily agreed. That song is just... it's very meaningful to me. He says things I didn't know how to put into words.

@@RJAWriter Stray Kids in so many of their songs talking about mental illness, anxiety, depression. In particular with that song he helped so many people by even acknowledging mental disease.

Han has become dear to me ( I love them all!) but Han I learned suffers from anxiety and I never would have guessed because of how they present themselves. But there are a few videos where they all take care of him when he's having a hard time in a particular moment. You can see him when it hits and a lot of times it's in front of an audience or during an interview. Lee Know you will see will be the comforting hand on his leg or a hug but also will give him the space he may need at the time. Han is very much an introvert so you can imagine as an introvert being in front of crowds, etc. I just want to give him a hug!

You should listen to Waiting for Us also, and watch the Valentine fan meet (feb. 12 and 13 I believe). Poor guys...they broke down because even though Stay was right there, they weren't allowed to interact and it affectd them deeply. Waiting for us and this song too (I think) speaks to their feelings about not being able to have Stay take part in the live meets/events.

Most K-pop artists, while having their own characteristics, easily move among various types of music. It goes back to the training process that they go through before debuting. It also explains how they are able to sing and dance without the need for lipsyncing.

Listen to waiting for us and Gone away it’s more like the soft song not the hard one with strong instrumentals and yes they can pull it all offf

If you want to listen to more emotional skz songs, "Secret Secret" and "Scars" are both insanely good, and overall a very different vibe from their usual music.

Firstly, I love your reaction videos. How you get so hyped that you’re practically shouting at us. 😜 Secondly, besides this song, Secret Secret and Another Day are two other Stray Kids songs that hit me hard. You should check them out too. Keep up the amazing videos.
