The reason she fell completely head over heels for Momon/Ainz is that every single undead will be fascinated by him because he is the absolute highest order of undead possible. So Evileye basically felt that uncontrollable urge to submit to him because she's a vampire and confused it with falling in love.

Just to clarify, the plan did not get them the item that summons an army of demons. They left that behind in a warehouse so the local government would find it. Demiurge SAID to Evileye that he came to the human realm to retrieve an item that could summon demon kind against their will, which he and his fellow demons didn’t much appreciate. So they are basically sacrificing an item of their own just to reinforce that story. But it’s all just a fabricated excuse to launch a raid. Remember, in the game Yggdrasil, guilds were constantly raiding each other, so this whole attack is basically business as usual for Demiurge. He raided the kingdom’s capitol, collected a lot of resources, gathered a whole bunch of new humans for his “sheep farm”, paid back the criminal organization that dared kidnap a woman Ainz had taken under his protection, and helped boost the name of Momon the Raven Black by creating a new arch villain character that only Momon can drive off.

Shalltear is probably masked and disguised in front of humans, since in the narrative created by Ainz, she was the vampire Honyopenyoko who was destroyed by Momon in the first season.

So, about Shaltear here: she is basically in a disguise because she was supposedly defeated by the great adventurer Momon The Raven Black. She’s not supposed to actually take part in the battle according to Demiurge’s plan. She is originally described as pale blonde, which is why the animators designed her disguise like this…but it never really gets explained why they decided to make her hair silver in her normal form, or why she looks so different here, or why Brain instantly recognizes her from a glance. It’s one of those weird things about the show you just have to chalk up to the animators only having 22 minutes in an episode to get everything done. As for her not remembering Brain, she met him in the time period right before she got brainwashed, so most of her memory from then got wiped. Brain assumes it’s because he was such a pathetic enemy that she couldn’t be bothered to remember him, but she literally just can’t recall their encounter, and so she was confused about why Brain was so happy about being able to attack her fingernail this time.

With the completion of season 2 I want to once again recommend the Ple-Ple Pleides shorts with a 2-3 minute episode for each episode of Overlord and a movie. The humorous shorts help to reveal some lore of the world and are often really fun on their own. Answering Questions: 6:53 for someone of Brain’s level this successful nailclipping is actually an incredibly impressive feat. It’s equivalent to damaging high-level armor. But without context its ridiculous as the characters themselves show later 17:25 yes Ulbert created Demi 19:45 Note Demi’s 4 merits were 1. Steal supplies including food for Nazarick(creating great hardship for ordinary people in the kingdom). 2. Create a convincing excuse for why the Demon “Jaldaboath” attacked the 8 fingers, allowing Nazarick’s involvement to go unnoticed 3. Steal a bunch of humans and take them away from their families to be used in human experimentation and resource production(refused when Ainz told Demi to kill most of them instead) and 4. Create the legend of “Jaldaboath" to be fought against by “Moman” and raising the reputation of both at the same time. In other words this is all pretty messed up, its pure evil and relies entirely on the disparity in strength between Nazarick and the New World and their lies going undetected. 20:15 No you misunderstood the item. Both items were in Nazarick’s possession to begin with. They are planning to leave an item behind in an 8 fingers storehouse as an excuse/ false flag for why the Demon “Jaldaboath” attacked 8 fingers. Initially Demi was planning to leave behind the item capable of unleashing a tenth tier spell, but Ainz recognized that was overkill and told Demi to use his weaker item instead, but Demi was overjoyed to be given an item made by his creator despite its inferiority 23:36 In Demi Vs. “Momon the Warrior” Demi would win if it were serious, but in Demi vs. Ainz of Nazarick Ainz would almost definitely win, Demi is actually one of the weakest floor Guardians in a 1 on 1 but has other strong points 24:20 Took it, experimented with it, and created a new and improved version 27:20 I would personally consider “who they wanted to keep alive” a spoiler at this point. You might figure it out if you think about it cause there are indications but nothing explicit 27:35 you are supposed to look at her face and notice the fangs indicating she is a vampire, but honestly the anime is pretty subtle and doesn’t convey this well 33:15 you've basically got it its a teaser for the next season where novel readers will know what's up and be happy to see new characters animated, but anime only's will have little idea of what's up.

Brian's goal was to face Shaltear without backing down. She basically annihilated his confidence and feelings of purpose in their last fight. Faced with such unmatched power, he fled and was a coward. This updated confrontation was him basically redeeming himself. She used her nails to deflect and toy with him. For him, aiming and breaking her nail was akin to breaking her weapon. She is seemingly this god strengthened thing compared to him, and he was able to stand up to her and fight back in a way. Sure it may seem insignificant, but to him, he faced this ultimate mountain and was able to actually do something, even if just slight. It gave him his confidence back, and he felt like all his training and life's work was not a waste.

The four objectives of Demiurge's planes were: 1. Obtain resources for Nazarick by raiding the capital's warehouses 2. Disguise their attack on Eight Fingers by making it out to be the work of "Jaldabaoth" who was there to retrieve an item. This item was an item they already had and his plan is to plant it as evidence of Jaldabaoth's motivation. This item was created by Demiurge's creator, Ulbert, but Ainz offers Demiurge an inferior/prototype version which will serve just as well, and will not put in the hands of their enemies an item with a tenth tier spell. 3. Obtain literal human resources for Nazarick. The creation of undead is one of those, though there are other more... painful uses shall we say. 4. Pin everything that happened and all these covert operations on the "Jaldabaoth", simultaneously not bringing attention to Nazarick and letting the adventurer Momon rise to even greater fame. Edit: Also you're right she looks close to Shaltear. This is the reveal that Evil Eye is a vampire after all.

A little LN info about the "rematch" between Brain and Shalltear: Fourfold Slash of Light was the martial art Gazef used to beat Brain when they met in a tournament (Gazef has since improved his to Sixfold), it delivers 4 attacks in the same instant but normally suffers from poor accuracy as a result, but Brain combined it with his Field to direct all 4 strikes perfectly at a single point. He hereafter names the combined technique Nailclipper.

Of the major Guardians, in terms of raw power: 1. Shalltear ( All round built for combat) 2.Mare, male elf twin (Large area attacks). Surprising really 3. Sebas, Cocytus and Albedo, in that rock paper scissors relationship. Albedo being the tank that can wear down Sebas who is balanced between offense and defense but Coctus offense can break through her armor. However Sebas can last long enough to beat Cocytus who is relatively the glass cannon of the three. 4. Aura, female elf twin ( Kind of spreads her power by being a summoner and scout too) 5. Demiurge (Also a more of summoner and strategist than a straight up combatant but he can manage) 6. Victim, the floating fetus. (Literally exist to be a sacrifice) Ainz and Pandora's Actor are kind of wildcards and depending on the situation and prep time they could beat anyone in theory.

I'm pretty sure (I've seen some contradictory comments) that EvilEye is lower level than Entoma but she still managed to bridge the gap with her verminbane spell.

shalltear isn't for 1v1 in the novel it says the best way to use her is to launch her at an enemy army because she has limitless stamina (undead) unlimited sustain (pipette lance.) Can use aoe charm spells, attack spells, summons and necromancer spells. Also the more bloody the fight the stronger she gets although she looses rationale (blood frenzy.)

I can't remember if the light novel goes into more detail about it, but here you have a few hints as to what Evileye's race is. In a previous episode, she mentions being at least 100 years old and also that her heart is no longer beating, so she's undead. In this episode, they show her red eyes and you can even tell she has fangs when the mask breaks. It's no surprise you thought of Shaltear when you saw her.

Then she got stopped by heroes who were also called "Players" and joined their group and got her power partially sealed. In the novel that's the first time (I think?) that we actually had the word "players" used for the past heroes of legends mentionned sometimes as gods. I might have forgotten more details but that's already quite something.

He was intending to sneak it in the warehouse so that later on it would be found. Ainz gave Demiurge a prototype of that same item that Demiurge's creator had made. Demiurge is honored, because to the guardians, getting items once possessed by their creators is the best reward they can hope to get.

Ainz replaced a nuke with a hand grenade. But even that is terrifying depending on who holds it. He kinda scaled it down for standards of power. But a cheap defective copy is enough to create an illusion of power in this world. Demi may have fully intended to start a war with such an item. A war where the doomsday item gets used and suddenly there are much fewer humans to deal with.

In terms of pure combat ability, in a 1-on-1 fight, Demiurge is one of the weakest of the Lv. 100 NPCs; contrary to how he fought as Jaldabaoth, he, like Ainz, uses summon-oriented combat. The concept used to design Demiurge was the "Demon General," so most of his non-summon abilities are actually support-based. In his fight against Momon, we really only see him using racial abilities (all of his "Aspect of the Devil" skills that grant him the physical characteristics of different devils); the few class skills he used were demon summoning (all of the demons the humans of the capital fought were just summoned creatures, so Nazarick didn't lose any troops in this fight) and the Flames of Gehenna, a support skill that strengthens all demons within the circle of flames. Earlier in the season, we also saw his Command Mantra skill, which allows his voice to control weak (under lv. 40) beings. This makes him relatively weak in a 1-on-1 fight, at least in terms of pure combat ability; however, he, again like Ainz, relies more on strategy and tactics in his fights rather than just his combat ability, so if given time to prepare, he could probably beat any of the guardians 1-on-1. The exception to this would be against Ainz, as Demiurge prefers not to fight when he's not certain of victory, and since he believes that Ainz is smarter than him, he would probably surrender before the fight started.

They can't have people think that they destroyed Eight Fingers to save a kidnapped woman so they made it so that people would think that they're only there to retrieve a magic item that they actually themselves put there. But Demiurge wouldn't be bothered to take action with a single objective.) * making "Momon the Hero" get public achievements to rank up. * gathering "specimens" for his farm. * stealing a magic item (referenced in the previous episode). Ainz and Nazarick in general are always investigating this world's magic system and its relation to Yggdrasill's. * there are at least three other objectives that I remember but they would be major spoilers at this point. Evileye is indeed a vampire, she comes from a faraway country and is over 200 years old. When she took off her mask, you saw her red eyes. She originally had rainbow eyes, which are a trait of her people. You could also see her fang when her mask broke during the fight with Alpha and Delta. (Yes, Delta has a spell gun, that's her main weapon as an Automaton race). You missed a lot of context about Rigrit this season, she's the old lady we saw in Episode 1 talking to the Platinum Dragon. She's the one who gave the Wild magic Ring to Gazef, who then gave it to Climb when they fought 8 Fingers. She also refers to Evileye during her conversation with the Dragon. Rigrit used to be part of Blue Rose, but she stopped being an adventurer, and challenged Evileye to a fight (Evileye vs Rigrit & the other members of Blue Rose) so she would take her place. Rigrit and Evileye both know about players and Yggdrasil to some extent. Rigrit was a Necromancer and has Yggdrasil items from her time with the 13 heroes.

And yes, it wasn't shown, this is disguised for a reason. Fiendish boss reference - Don't forget, Gagaran mentioned the one time she saw Lakyus 'talking to herself' with regards to the cursed sword she has in her posession. It wouldn't be surprising that Nina andt Tia has seen Lakyus' dark/cursed side at one point. And here, you will see the plan being unfolded. The funny thing is, Ains has no idea what is going on, yet manages to make Demiurge think he is well ahead of him. The thing is, it is, like before a misunderstanding. No - The thing was, they were planning to use the statue to pretend this is the reason they attacked the city, to get it. Their intention was to get some resources in that area as well as hit the Eight Fingers for what they did. But there is more. Unfortunately, this goes into spoiler territory and will be explained further later. Theoretically, yes. Ains is familiar with every NPC of Nazarick, as he and his guild members were responsible for creating them, thus aware of their weaknesses. And again, the NPCs were to fight Players, but never in a PVP like way, hence how Ains defeated Shalltear because he used pvp methods to confuse and knowing her abilities. For now, you are not suppose to know who it is. As for Evileye looking sort of like Shalltear... Well, that is a hint. The woman who said, "I helped you." That was Wilma, the woman Mare broke her leg. Thing is, she was brought to Nazarick and was... 'processed'. You will see her again in Season 4. And compare her now to when you see her in Season 4 and you will get an idea. Pestonya (The dog maid) is implying that Tsuare and Sebas have a thing, which is not exactly the case, so to speak. Near the end, you are getting a teaser for Season 3 and what is to come.

I've always thought that a lot of Overlord makes sense if you compare how Nazerick acts to how we treat animals. Some we love, some we hate, some we eat like a pet dog vs a rat in the wall vs a chicken. You could cherish one, exterminate the other, and like the last but think it's too tasty to let live. The one general harm we try to avoid is torturing animals for fun but we'll still torture them with the right kind of justification like medical testing or factory farming. Put through that lens Nazerick's actions suddenly feel disturbingly familiar.

there are 3-4 plans i was seeing in this episode 1.) ainz(under the name momon) wants to build up reputation 2.) Demiurge finding a world item of sorts or any artifact that they can relenquish to ainz 3.) nip the fingers gang through the bud. 4.) For something that you seem to not understand: Ainz isn't 'playing hero' for no reason. The bigger the hero he becomes, the more connections and fame he has. The more of those he has, the bigger his information network in this world. Thus, any info he's looking for(like hints of other players or finding out who brainwashed Shalltear) are more likely to be found through increasing his connections.

I don't know how much more obvious this should be. But yes, Evileye is not a human, she is a vampire. You can see her fangs when she took off her mask + the non-beating heart that she mentioned herself. Therefore, her power level is much higher than that of other adamantine-ranked adventurers. Also, speaking of Demiurge, he is relatively weak for a level 100 character. He's not even close to Shalltear's power level for example. However...he is cunning and he is a tactical genius. He is more of a commander and strategist than a first-line fighter. The purpose of this entire operation was simple. The underworld is now working for Nazarick, which is why Aura said that half the country has essentially been taken over. And of course, simple robbery...they literally cleaned out warehouses in the capital and took additional “human resources.” Overall, a very profitable event for Nazarick. And yes... everyone considers Momon to be an incomparable hero and savior.

Just some more info about the powerlevels: shalltear is the strongest guardian and stronger than ainz. Ainz won because of his strategy and pay to win items. Mare is also pretty strong and second or 3rd place. Pandoras actor is maybe even stronger than shalltear when he copies lord touch me or ulbert, because he can copy all supreme beings, but just with 80% strenght (pandoras actor doesnt count as guardian) The 8 floor npcs are the last defence wall of nazarick and unbelievable strong, but their strenght and identity is unknown. There is also Rubedo, that is albedos sister and she is so strong that she can beat touch me (strongest supreme being) Ainz is still pretty strong, but i think he is jot in top5 with raw strenght and magic

So, if you read the books they revealed what Evileye is, plus they have her character profile on one of the pages that state her race, but if you look closely, red eyes, and LONG teeth, shes a VAMPIRE! And who were they told to not harm? it was suttle but it was revealed in this episode as well! Youll know for sure who it is in later episodes, but there are already clues. How deep this series is, will eventually come to light when everything comes out in the open.

Your assumption about 12 episodes is not mistaken. It likely came from your knowledge of other anime that you have seen. Most anime have to make a single season out of 12 or 24 episodes. Because a broadcasting season is typically 3 months (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall) So anime gets 12 weeks for a single cour run or 24 weeks for a double cour run. Some shows manage to get 13 episodes if they chose to start early in the first week of Jan, Apr, Jul or Oct. And some Anime Like Jujutsu Kaisen or Oshi No ko manage to get more episodes because they get special broadcasting slots which is kinda hard to get.

Shalltear was in disguise. As far as the rest of the new world knows, her name was "Honyopnyot" and was defeated by The Dark Warrior Momon. Meaning they can't risk anyone of the kingdom seeing her in her normal getup, else they put two and two together and realize Momon is a fraud. (at least they would think he is, working together with Honyopnyot for unknown reasons.) Brain on the other hand was so traumatized and haunted by nightmares of Shalltear that he saw right through the disguise. Though he likely never knew Honyopnyot and Shalltear were the same being, and must have assumed they must have been two separate vampires that were working together.

Demiurges plan wasn't to obtain the magic item. He already had it and planned to plant it among the Eight Finger's warehouses to "justify" Jaldabeoth's attack on the city and divert the attention of the government away from the true purpose of the attack which was as explained: 1: Acquire all the resources Eight Fingers had stored in those warehouses to help fund Nazarick. 2: Cover Nazarick's attack on the Eight Finger's bases. (Remember, their goal, after Tuare's kidnapping, was to destroy the Eight Finger's operation as they had slighted the Supreme One by kidnapping her after he had promised her protection. However, they needed to go about this subtly as the kingdom doesn't yet know about Nazarick's existence, and so they needed to cover their involvment with Eight Finger's destruction; hence the attack on the city.) 3: Kidnap all the city residents inside the flame wall, transport them to Nazarick and use them for whatever needs may arise. (This may seem really dark and heartless, but this is Demiurge's plan, he really doesn't care about humans and relishes in cause pain and suffering.) 4: Establish Jaldabeoth (NOT Demiurge) as a power demon. By playing out a mock battle between him and the Adventurer Momon, it would increase Momon's reputation by having people believe that he had driven off such a powerful demon. (Keep in mind that Jaldabeoth is NOT Demiurge. Jaldabeoth is a false identity to cover Demiurges connection to Nazarick.) Edit: If you watch very carefully (something you seem to be notorious for not doing) you can figure out who they were trying to keep alive. All the context clues are there, you just need to keep track of who is where and when. However, an explanation is given at the end of season 4. (You'll feel like an idiot for not picking up on it sooner once it's all laid out.)

In the game ygdrasil they had many types of weapons including magical firearms. Also a very unique mechanic was the loss of 5 levels upon death in that case death was a way to re spec your build since levels could be gain very easy. Evil eye is a vampire and in this fight she was infusing her attacks with dark energy which is the life force of the undead and damaging to living creatures.... Sadly Yuri Alpha is Also an undead and dark energy actually cures her, Shizu delta being an automaton is inmune. What Ains have is a copy of the ice sword and is an imptoved copy at that.

Momonga is playing both sides to get as much information and influence as possible for his ultimate goal of finding another player. It has nothing to do with ambition or wanting to conquer. He is using the items and abilities he had in Yggdrasil to do all of this, because he is unsure of whether this is still a game or not, which makes it easier to look past all of the death he causes. EDIT: The ending is not a "light novel thing", it's a classic "Luke overlooks things" thing; that is the First Prince, older brother and heir to the throne before the scheming Second Prince and their insane half sister the Princess.

Regardless, since the 8 Fingers are known to be a nefarious organization, the Re-Estize Kingdom would hand wave this fact, since they are a bunch of incompetent idiots (including most nobles, the king, and all heirs to the throne excluding the Eminent Golden Princess Renner, the Beautiful Treasure of the Re-Estize Kingdom, as Climb would say) and corrupt (including most nobles and all heirs to the throne).
