Some HUGE fun facts: Author planned to introduce Hamuske`s parent in that deep chasm but thought it is not necessary so he discarded it, but he also said that Hamuske is still a kid and her parents are several kilometers long. They also speedrun the politics of this episode, it had one of the best and most realistic negotiations but we got the rushed version which makes the dwarves look very dumb. And Ainz gave the head of blacksmiths a level 45 ingot(trash for him) to make an armor for zaryusu as a present for becoming a father, but the blacksmith that hated Ainz soon discovered he can`t even melt the ingot, even with their furnace that can melt Adamantite easily, the ingot even after enduring insane amount of heat was still cold and you could hold it in your hand no problem, so the blacksmith took the ingot and ran away with it, we don`t know if he stole it to go out and find new ways of forging to get the job done, or he just didn`t want to lose that ingot and stole it for himself.

Politics, Diplomacy, Trade, these are the hearts of this season and its done so well. Watching Ainz himself gaining admiration and supporters and genuine followers such as the guildmaster of the adventure guild of E-Rantel, Gondo and the other runesmiths, through non violent methods tells us that despite acting dumb, Ainz is actually pretty intelligent himself. Another fun fact about Hamusuke: Hamusuke is a "Jungarian Hamster", which is based on D&D's Giant Space Hamster, which is basically a hamster, but much bigger and savage than what we IRL are used to. So in the D&D lore, what the wizards would do to keep them as harmless pets is to shrink them, basically creating (what is in our world) a regular hamster, that didn't initially exist in D&D lore. And because regular hamsters don't exist in D&D, they called it a Miniature Giant Space Hamster instead 🤣 Boo, from the famous Minsk & Boo duo is the most famous example of a Miniature Giant Space Hamster. And the funniest fact is, when a Giant Space Hamster gets magically shrinked to a Miniature Giant Space Hamster, they lose all their muscle, but all of it gets converted into intellect. So a brutish, savage Giant Space Hamster becomes an absolute genius Miniature Giant Space Hamster 😆

the dwarf went around talking to all the runsmithes in the city, he handed em a "small" bottle of alcohol from nazarick as a taste and promised to give em a "big one" when show up to some talks, after said talk were finished would get the big one. he didnt expected it but all the runesmithes showed up, most of em fully slushed out of their mind ofcs, most of em were talking were polite to him, like offering him help if needed any etc before walking of to talk about drinking with the others, talking about nazaricks booze etc. 22:18 - surprise female dwarf in the crowd. at the end of the demonstration he handed the runesword to the old dwarf that he spoke to and let em keep it for while they were in the city, under the promise that would return it before leaving for ainz place. the runsword ainz is purely a fashion item from yggdrasil, the runes had no power, and he just bought it cuz horder instinct found something neat and shiny. (the runes might have effect in yggdrasile, ppl just never disocvered any tho, that is at least anizes stand of knowledge about em) this presentation is also once again like a scene where momonga shows his abilities as an former salaryman. which happens a lot more through out overlord, him making use of his various old world learned salaryman skills (so to speak)

Some spoilery details: the anime skipped a plot where Ains wanted the dwarves to make 2 sets of armor 1 for Zaryusu and 1 for Zenberu (might be wrong in that last one), his logic was that he wanted to ensure Zaryusu's life so he could have more children with Crush and so he might get more rare lizardmen. In the meeting with the council he gives a block of metal which he nearly called trash, but correct himself and called it "workable", the chief of the forges accepts the task, but later on despairs cause no matter how much he heats it it wont even warm up. So he takes it and a dagger Ains gave him (a dagger Ains used to scratch the metal), and leaves the kingdom. Also Ains hoped the rare ores the dwarved had were something similar to what was found in nazarick but was just adamantite which in this world is the hardest metal, but for Ains standars is nothing special. Also Ains was frustrated with Zenberu cause in his memories he could not distinguish one dwarf from another and would just se beards, but as Ains met the council he could not tell them apart either and within himself apoligizes to Zenberu.

To add on, the dagger was made of the same metal (it was intended to just be an example since they were unfamiliar with this metal). The idea was thrown around by the dwarves that the ingot was intentionally made of something impossible to melt as a trap, so Ainz could claim that they failed to uphold their end of the deal and do something evil in response while appearing justified - but that notion was dismissed because the dagger was made of the same metal, proving it was possible somehow to work it. Presumably the blacksmith is traveling the world to find some way to smelt the metal, with the added benefit of hiding away from Ainz in the meantime.

If you didn't pick up what Aura noticed in this episode, it will be explained later. From her perspective, she sees Ainz explaining a bunch of things/tactics to Shalltear because he believes the Death Knights were slain by a powerful unknown foe. Of course, we know what happened to the Death Knights, they fell in the chasm as the bridge went down. Normally, Death Knights have a skill that lets them live a killing blow with 1hp, but they bounced around as they fell down, so they died. By the way, we don't get to know what's down there. In the novels, the dwarves explain it's depth is unknown, and that no one has returned from the 2 expeditions that were mounted to investigate. Ainz mentions he could easily investigate this with Spectral Wraiths, by sharing their vision with magic. But this was a low priority at the time, considering he was going to reclaim the Capital. Ainz thought to himself that if the ''Shitty Devs'' of Yggdrasil had their ways, a rare item or ores would be hidden down there.

in the LN female dwarfs are also described as being bearded to an degree. ya see a couple of female dwarfs in the background in a couple of scenes during this episode - they didnt opted for the bearded lady look. the dwarf with ainz, told em that it took him 6 days on foot to reach the abandoned city from last episode. they managed to do the same distance over ground in fraction of that time. i think was like only 1 or 2 days or so maybe. the death knight hurled one of the quagoa at the leader, missed em tho - the thrown quagoa then collided with another next to em - the collision was so hard that both of them got misted instantly. the bridge was actually holding cuz the ropes (in the LN) were made from metal wire, hence why the quagoa also struggled at cutting it with their fangs and claws... the former dwarf king they briefly mentioned was part of the 13 heroes 200 years ago, but he just wordlessly disappeared at some point with all his artefacts, that he had taken with him. an item that aura is wearing protects both her and gondo when going through the poison fog death maze. created like a bubble of breathable air around them, iirc.

Also about the runecrafting. It is more than just pride, when a nation has exclusive rights to a technology, even one it isn't using properly anymore, that makes it a valueable trade commodity. Imagine if knowledge of how to make pizzas strictly belonged to the Italians, a more powerful nation that gets hold of it could do incredible things and earn themselves a lot of respect on the world stage. So just by witholding that tech they are preventing others from surpassing them even if it isn't actively benefiting their kingdom; all of which goes to show how truly desperate the dwarven situation is that they are willing to offer this and their people up in order to stabilize their country.

This is always a nice episode because it shows some of the more human elements that Ainz still has. Especially his high empathy for workers. Since Ainz is from a society were the common workforce was about as good as slaves. They were frequently overworked not just to the point of exhaustion but also death. It's also where we see (along with his interaction with Ainzach about the Adventurer's) Ainz in his 'natural' element. He used to be a salaryman in his own world so he is quite good at presenting those ideas he has and selling them to the people. It didn't take much to convince and get the Runesmiths excited, people who had already pretty much given up on ever finding success again. At least from those angles we can see why he used to be the guild leader of Ains Ooal Gown. Ainz largely underestimates how good of a leader he actually is, partially because Nazarick holds him to such impossible high standards.

Fun fact: Ainz was originally going to take control of the Quagoa and use them to attack the dwarves to continue squeezing favors from them, but the destruction of the death knights made him paranoid and as a result he went completely on the offensive now. Btw, obviously the DK take fall damage, and if we count all the bounces that can result from a fall from a cliff, it is obvious why they died.

Yeah Luke i agree about season 4 being the best season of Overlord. The author did a really good job building up the story while giving us enough action and lore since season 1 up to this point. Due to that, we can have our fav chara, enough understanding of the world they're currently live in, and what Ainz want to achieve along with his NPC ultimate goal. Even if there's no more fighting after this i wont be complaining since the world building and how they execute it was so much fun to watch.

So I suppose now is as good a time as any to go over something that was skipped in Season 2. If you remember from Season 1, Ninya, the wizard in the party Blades of Darkness, wanted to rescue her sister who was sold into slavery by a local lord. After Ninya was murdered by Clementine, Ainz disguised as Momon is seen looking through Ninya's possessions and handling the journal in her pouch. During the events of Season 2, we see Ainz pull out the same journal from his item box after speaking with Tuare, the girl Sebas saved and took in, mentioning that he was repaying a debt. Tuare's full name is TuareNINYA. Tuare is the older sister that Ninya from S1 was trying to find and save. Ainz even mentions noticing the resemblance. The connection is not very obvious in the anime, and is honestly mentioned almost in passing in the Light Novels. It was a moment where the author, Maruyama, was expecting people to put the pieces together themselves and shows how Maruyama as a writer doesn't often leave plot threads hanging.

One of the many things anime adaptation forgot to mention: those twenty runes on the sword? They don't actually do anything, it was just a paid DLC skin. Momonga knew that full well, but chose to stay silent and swindle the dwarves to keep them motivated into pushing their craft further. The sword was relegated to being a wall hanger behind glass in their smithy as a constant "see what you can achieve if you work hard enough" dangling carrot.

Aura assumed fall damage killed the death knights. There are things down there but you will never see them. :) What actually happened is since Death Knights can take any amount of damage on first attack and survive with 1 hp. So, what ever was down there killed 2- 1 hp death knights which isn't a big deal.

Death knights suffer damage as any other thing when falling. So yes, they died. They were resistant because he hits all the wrong buttons for them, as you see them rant, but at the same time, giving them concern what he might do with it and if they are responsible for bring hell on earth. Aura isn't saying anything because she believes Ains 'shushed' her because he didn't want her to give Shalltear the 'answer'. Thing is, he didn't realize what Aura figured out, which is the Quagua did. And you will get the answer to this in the next episode.

death knights have a passive that if an attack would destroy them they survive with 1 hp, they fell to the bottom with 1 hp and something down there sneezed on them lol the Rune sword was just an item Ainz bought because he thought it looked cool, the runes were purely cosmetic, Ainz jebaited them hard lmao.

You keep on saying they look bigger than they should, but remember where they're in is a dwarven area with dwarfs. So, of course, they're gonna look bigger. Even the little lollie vampire is taller than them. Me personnel I'd still go after Albeto.

11:55 fall damage does exist however a lot of nazarick has a way to negate it (magic casters using the fly spell or just wings as a racial trait)

With regard to Luke's analogy to rune. Yes, think of it as family heirloom. Maybe an old car or apiece of metal cross that had been pass down generation to generation maybe even way back from your grandfather's grandfather. To many (maybe even you), it does not hold any meaning or value. But it is a different story to the person trying to purchase it. Maybe he has the skill or he knew someone who could restore the old car (ie '66 shelby GT500). Ainz knew how good runic items were and he had the knowledge or find someone to bring it back.

Luke, the Quagoa it seems are similar to Gnolls (pronounced "noles" (like holes)) ,dog-men from D&D and World of Warcraft (among other fantasy settings). They're pretty much like Goblins and Orcs (pig-men) who are weak individually but find their strength in overpowering numbers. To a handful of Dwarves they're definitely a challenge but to Nazerick ... well, you'll get to see soon.

Ainz death knights are indeed bigger / stronger because of hes racial perk/skill unlike the natural spawn death knights (like the one we saw captured in season 3)

yep they do take fall damage, but they would still have 1 hp due to a trait not to die in one hit, but easily bounce after words would remove the last 1 hp killing them. ya everything building up to it's climax so can not wait for next season ^^

"everything looks bigger this episode". My guy they are in the DWARF kingdom. All of their stuff is tiny so no wonder the death knights, etc. look taller im comparison. Our doors are usually normed at 2m imagine how you would look next to a 1,50 door :D Also at why they were cautious wen ainz asked to take them to his kingdom. Ainz did not want tune runes to be at his kingdom but the runeSMITHS. Imagine a scary ass looking undead that is super powerful comes to you and asks to take your friends away to his place. You wouldnt be cautious? :D

It makes you think that your old Generator might have a newly discovered use that you havent thought about and that you would lose out on it if you trade it off now.

This will be a short comment for once. There wasn't a lot you were wondering about that wouldn't have been spoilers if explained and you didn't miss a lot. In my opinion, there was only one scene where some more infos are needed in this one. The scene I'm talking about is when Ainz, Aura, Shalltear and Gondo left the stronghold to go liberate the dwarven capital. There isn't that much to add to it, mostly flavor text in a way, but it is still pretty interesting! What Aura wanted to point out was the fact the death knights most certainly died of fall damage when the bridge was destroyed. The reason she didn't say it was because of Ainz. When he shushed her, she took it as a "I know, but let's teach Shalltear some important things" so she kept silent about it. But for Ainz, it was more of a "Wait just a minute, I'm talking at the moment. Once I'm done with Shalltear, I'll listen to you." He never realised the death knights died like that, he is entirely persuaded someone or something killed them. That's why he is explaining those things to Shalltear, he truly believe something dangerous is waiting for them. Also, he was extremely excited at that time. Not in a segsual way (self censored so this comment will stay up) but in a "That's something I know!" way. Ainz is extremely good when it comes to strategising and pvp encounters. He isn't the best PvP player because of his RP built, but he know so much about the game, the skills, the races, the equipments, the world items, the spells and everything else he was able to climb abnormaly high in the ladders when you look at his build. For once, he was entirely in his element instead of faking it like he usualy do. That's why it was so important for him to teach Shalltear about this, it was his area of expertise, something he take enormous pride into.

everything looks bigger. cuz dwarf stuff all is smaller, my man. lizard dud is slightly taller then ainz. death knights are like around 3m tall or so. absurdly large either way.
