Goth mechanics trying to fix this van

The LunaMobile van is a GMC Savana 3500 from 2001. It ended up having some rust that was getting a bit out of control after this winter so I decided to start repairing some of it. It took a lot of work to get done but its already starting to look much better. This will keep those parts from rusting further. After fixing most of that I noticed that the suspension needs to be completely replaced. I started by replacing the upper and lower ball joints and more. I was able to find those parts on sale so it cost me a fraction of the cost than it normally would have. After renting the ball joint tool from a local shop and started to rip things apart with my lovely mechanic assistant. In the end we were able to change out the lower and upper ball joints as well as the bushings in the lower control arms and installed new shocks in the front. Next I'll be working on the rear shocks and completing some of the rust fixes I began. May take it in for alignment soon as well. How did you like Ashley's Scotty Kilmer impressions? i think they were pretty spot on.

yes, as soon as Im done putting the rear ones in! those are only 3 bolts though, shouldnt be too bad (at least thats what i keep telling myself lol)

Regular maintaining Oil , filters, injector cleaner in the tank, it will do wonders

yeah the easiest way to start is by changing your own oil. you will slowly build the tools you need if you enjoy it. for oil its best to have a oil pan, a couple jack stands, and a good iack that fits under your vehicle. between the shops and youtube youll get all the instruction you need for your make/model but feel free to ask for advice any time.

@@TheDro That’s awesome, thanks. I used to only drive it to work. It was across the street. I worked at Walmart. Now I work in hell. I mean Amazon. The drive is 25 minutes away. And it’s over 3 bridges. So I feel like there are things I should do, that I’d rather not pay someone for. Unless I know them. I feel like I’d get ripped off because I’m a woman. I also wanted to know what to keep in my car. Thanks 😊

went great and will be doing an alignment once i add the rear shocks in. unfortunately the machine to do that costs about $10k-20k! anytime you mess w removal of suspension components it will throw things off a bit and you need lasers to be precise. otherwise id do that myself too!
