She was working her way up to be an A-list household name, but her life ended tragedy after an obsessive fan killed her over a scene that he didn't like. After her murder, Schaeffer's legacy lives on.... Its one story that woke up a law on stalking.

*Christina Grimmie’s passing was totally preventable* Just prior to the crime, the venue had a change management & the few employees they had weren’t properly trained. There was really no security; no metal detection nor pat downs. The only “security” being inspections of larger bags. Christina’s brother was the one that wrestled the suspect to the ground. Her story & legacy will live on forever. RIP 🤍

Afterwards my Mother told me that she have seen her in two TV shows Mork & Mindy and My Sister Sam. I've never heard of that show before and mind you I am an 80's baby. She told me how great the show was and of Rebecca Schaeffer. Also of her terrible and sad murder from a crazy stalker. That's horrible to die like that outside your home by an obsess lunatic. vRebecca Schaeffer was so young & beautiful. She could of gone further in her career or even live a regular life. What if Rebecca had already agreed to give up her life so laws would be passed to help others ? What if her soul knew it was going to happen ? She wouldn't be a victim. She would be a very strong hero for everyone who has had an encounter with someone who wanted them, and they didn't like them in return. It's a scary place to be in when you feel helpless. Knowing there are now laws against this is a huge relief in many ways. Thank you for your sacrifice, Rebecca. You really stood up for something important and worthwhile. 🎉❤

So they should be charged with murder before they do it? What action or words would be the reason? It all "sounds" great but you say something out of anger at someone and you're in prison for life? I also wish we could treat our terminal cancer patients better than we do but then who would be in charge of that decision and not abuse it?
@ChelSierra_Remly

@@ridingtheroad185 - Anyone who ignores warning after warning after warning to stop stalking someone should at some point lose their rights. Going to jail for life is only a suggestion for those who can’t, or won’t, stop stalking others. It shouldn’t be for a one time offense, but for repeated offenses. The stalker is to blame for going to jail for life because of their actions and inability, or refusal, to stop stalking. Stalkers should also be put on a national stalking registry to put them in the spotlight for law enforcement to keep an eye on. And so neighborhoods know who is near them.

I am sure that that would have been Rebecca’s breakout-role. Seems that her parents were very-trusting and non-cynical people, so she was never given “the gift of fear.” Pam Dawber had warned her to not put her real name on her mailbox or intercom. Seems she didn’t heed that wisdom and just brushed it off. Reason-being, she was’t raised to be cautious enough. Therefore, those around her in CA should have been more forceful with her. when it came to ensuring her personal safety.🤷🏼

I remember when they were broadcasting the upcoming shows that year. I remember seeing this show on that list. I didn't watch it a lot because I had my own set of shows I loved, but I do remember this and caught it when I could. No Idea this young lady was killed. I had a ton of female actresses I was in love with, but never to this level of obsession. 21 years old. This was tragic and sad to hear. Reminds me of the story of the young lady from poltergeist. Another tragedy based around obsession.

Don’t understand why she’d open the door the second time. It’s scary enough that she opened the door to a stranger that just shows up at her door the first time. The fact that he returned would’ve immediately set off alarm bells for me. I never, ever answer the door for anyone knocking on my door unless it’s someone I’m expecting. But people just freely open their doors to strangers, which I noticed all my neighbors do. This world is too scary and crazy to not be extra, extra cautious.

A lot of women have to deal with unwanted attention, including stalking. Anytime I have worked in retail I've dealt with men who think they have a relationship with me or make lewd comments. Won't work with the public again.

I’ve worked in food & beverage industry for most of my life. The amount of harassment that women get, especially in their 20’s and 30’s, is incredible. I stopped working in restaurants because it felt like I was stuck in a building with any human who could walk in the door and make my life hell for as long as they wanted and I couldn’t do anything about it. Add alcohol to the mix and it can get dangerous too.

Rebecca Schaeffer and I were born the same year, only two months apart, and her murder has always haunted me, as does seeing footage of her from the the 1980s, while the years pass for me and the rest of the world, and I grow older, about to be 57 in a month, while she remains frozen in that time, forever fresh faced, forever young ,forever on the cusp of promising future that would never come. .

I do not know what has changed. I am an attorney. Fortunately, my story was not one of stalking, but it was still disturbing. I get personally served with documents at work on behalf of clients on a regular basis. However, one time, I noticed someone outside my house. A couple of days later, I got a call that someone was trying to serve me legal documents but could not find me at work, so they went to my house. The problem is that I do not give out my home address, so someone just got it. God knows how.
