If you’re losing about half the games you play that means you’re being matched up against people at basically your skill level, which is what is supposed to happen Edit: several comments have been made about the issue of draws so let me rephrase. If you’re losing approximately as many games as you’re winning, that means the matchmaking algorithm is probably working as intended

Very seriously, unless you are over about 2200 people still learn something from these games. They are like chess puzzles, not positions you are gonna see at a high level in a real game. Just thinking about them, and having levy explain what should happen and stuff will still help you think more creatively. Actually, giving 100 elo middle games to strong players is quite interesting to see because they really have to get creative to salvage it lol. They are also just fun to watch, i dont understand why so many (self-identified...) advanced players whine about him "wasting time" with these games. Even if most of his audience WASN'T 700-1000ish it can still be entertaining and instructional.

Very instructive, thank you Levy for half an hour laughing. On the other hand, we have this pattern in almost every field. In my profession for example, cryptography, people are selling "unbreakable" encryption, tossing in garbage buzz-words without getting what entropy is.What it takes to produce new encryption schemes is 10+ years of researching and breaking encryption. Luckily, I happened to spot the Rxf6 followed by in the third game. What did it take? Four years puzzle solving starting from 1800 to getting in the 2200-range. Improvement is hard. As you say we all lost games like this first one. Finding the moves the cheater did is like a primary school pupil finding solutions to logarithmic equations. Therefore the cheaters at this level don't get it why it is spotted at once.

@@Watashi-Wa-Kat-Desu highest bots I’ve beaten on challenge mode are 1500, but bots are different than people. While I’m sometimes able to play like someone who’s around 1000, I can’t play like that consistently for one reason or another.

Imagine being so bad at chess that you have to cheat to reach 800+... But honestly, as a 1900, watching two 700 or so rated players play chess...Well it gives me a headache.

Believe me when I say this These guys don't play like 700 at all I'm a 700 and when I review a game even my 600 have review ratings of 1200 to 1500 I'm pained at how people think 700s play
@ethanguo42194 күн бұрын
@uzomaamarachi1162 nah. I frequently see random sub1000 elo games for laughs, all hilariously bad. If you dont blunder pieces in one move, you can go above that slowly. There are cheaters and smurfs who play better, so dont expect to win all games.

700-800 elo chess players are 1100 chess players with amnesia lol we’re just very forgetful and/or don’t study openings.

@@clemonsLA1100 studying opens is ridiculous and even laughable. You're doing 1 move blunders at 1100. 1100 who studied openings is probably like 800 level in middle and endgame, which is way more important

Here in Brazil we had a famous cheater, a "great" KZbinr He started classic games with the intention of "thinking" about the moves Even so he took the famous Scholar's Mate From then on he began his journey with the fish When the game reaches a checkmate position in x moves we say that this the youtuber saw the checkmate and shouted in the hall brazilian inside joke

600-800 seems to have a lot of cheaters that turn on halfway through mid game. I keep having games that go pretty normally and then once they blunder they start doing super accurate moves in 1-2 seconds back to back to back. I think it’s out of frustration because climbing to 1000 from there is a hurdle.

Honestly I don't think people really need to buy courses before probably like 1700. I got to 1500 (from 500) in 4 months just by 2 books and watching KZbin videos. There are so many free resources on line for chess
