After watching 1 year of Gotham content, I entered my first chess tournament ever. Full of random noobs and gotham subs queens were hung and pieces on move six were won. At the end of the day, I finished third, only losing to a guy who is 1800 bullet. Now, I'm 1200 and 30 years old. So no "hero story" whatsoever. But I had one of my best days, ever. Being able to enjoy this game that unites so many people is beautiful. So thanks Levy, though you might never read this. You have an positive impact within and beyond your imagination. A proposal: "The Blunderdome" A miniseries within Guess the ELO where Levy features games involving a ridiculous number of blunders, mistakes, and/or missed wins for the ELO each player has, the kind of games where both players make more mistakes than they should given their rating and call it "The Blunderdome."
@warmike2 жыл бұрын
There is a series, with a playlist. Called "How to lose at chess"
@johnwalker10582 жыл бұрын
@@warmike The difference between the "Blunderdome" and "How to Lose at Chess" is that in the latter series, both players are usually making their mistakes simply because they are low rated. (For nearly every video, both players are 1000 ELO and below). In the former, players might be making many mistakes due to lack of experience by virtue of being low rated, or they might be scrambling in a time crunch (like if they were playing blitz or bullet), or they might not be that focused, or they might have been navigating through an unfamiliar opening and fell for traps, etc. With more possible reasons for mistakes, it could be interesting to try to guess their ELO and see that it might be higher than what the post-game engine analysis might initially suggest. This in turn could offer some insights as to how certain aspects of gameplay can affect one's performance and what one might be able to do in order to overcome such potential hinderances. TD;LR: So yes, they are similar, but no, they are not quite the exact same.
