Funny that in 1990 Kasparov said Vishy won't last long. It has been 20 years since Kasparov retired and Vishy is still top 10.

Vishy is my favorite modern champion. He can play all the games - closed, quiet positions; open, attacking games; grinding endgames... A truly complete player. And he's pure class in every situation. If you don't like Vishy Anand you don't like chess!
@RaniaIsAwesome

As shown in these games he makes a lot of odd-looking moves where noone has a clue of what he's doing but he ends up in a winning or drawing position. It's different to the "knocking on the door" style of most players where they keep trying to poke at weaknesses hoping something will come up, some tactical thing or combination while Vishy wins by magic.

If I told you that in 1987 when Anand won the Indian National Championship in Tumkur, where I was one of the organizers, we literally had this 17yr kid sitting in one of the hotel rooms (Woodlands) and then later remembering every friendly game that was going on and offering suggestions and comments on the same, you would not believe me. Cannot get the whole course😢 but the free sample is good enough for my level to progress, again Thanks!!

BTW, I don't think 54 is old by any stretch. I am 69 and a reasonably strong club player: I also play a weekly match with an 83 year old, very strong club player, and we have reasonably respectable games... It would be great to have more games by 'old' players reviewed on your channel, especially by Smyslov and Korchnoi, neither of whom ever seemed to 'retire'!
