I'm so happy to see a video from you. The change in my skin due to your knowledge of ingredients is mind-blowing. My daughter actually showed me a picture from 5 years ago and told me I was reverse aging. I no longer have acne and my scarring is nearly gone. You've changed my life!

This is amazing! The two vitamin C videos together are so informative and well made. I love that you show every single product in detail and comment on the smell, texture, level of irritation, etc. It is beyond helpful. I am sure it takes a lot of effort to put a video like this together, so I really wanted you to know how much it is appreciated. Also kudos for writing the price of each product. It saves us so much time. And the range of alternatives you show is so wide I feel everyone can pick out at least one product that is both affordable and a great fit. Standing ovation for this one :)

I saw a re-upload of a section of this video on Facebook as a Maelove ad and wanted to let you know just in case you didn’t know or they didn’t have your permission, since I’ve heard of it happening before much to some KZbinrs’ disdain! But yes you’ve sold me on it...and everything else.

I use Timeless. If you put it in the fridge, it lasts much much longer without turning yellow. I keep a larger bottle (much more economical that way) in the fridge and decant a small amount into a smaller bottle in the bathroom.

I have bought the DE twice and it was dark brown. I expected better for The price. The Maelove is beautiful. I’m on my second bottle. Has made a huge difference on my décolletage. They have run out of stock twice however it almost guarantees freshness. I also bought their Night Refiner. Really nice glycolic acid product. Maelove’s prices are terrific. Great video!

ennyl ennyl I mix mine with either Buffet or Natural Moisturising Factors. You have to avoid mixing it or applying with Niacinamide and EUK (otherwise you’re risking an unpleasant irritation) - it’s explained on the Deciem website :)

ennyl ennyl, I mix mine with a hydrating toner ! I love the Secret Key rose toner 😊 (though i don’t think the pH is that acidic so it tingles more) just try not to mix it with something too harsh as the vit c is already pretty strong lol 😂 also try to find a low pH toner/product, i find that it helps more to reduce the tingling sensation

This one is the gold standard of all Vit C videos - Chinese New Year came early! :-) I've tried a few of the products you covered, one that stood out is Maelove's Glow Maker. 3 weeks in and I'm already seeing the lightening of some of my hyperpigmentation. Great work, Renee!

Brilliant video as always! I have to agree with you when it comes to Melano CC - I bought my first tube in HK in Dec last year, and at that point had suffered a lot of adult cystic acne, which left quite a lot of PIH and PIE. Majority of the PIH were along my jaw, and there were a lot of them. I walked into the first Watson's and used the the same evening. After 4-5 days, I kid you not, I already saw a remarkable difference along the jawline. Now I can hardly see the pigmentation there. I have found though, with active acne, it does aggravate the live spot (I've just recently managed to calm my adult acne down) and is best when there is nothing cystic going one. Used in the day time has together with Adapalene every other night, and Tamanu oil and niacinamide, it has faded my PIH and encourgaged my PIE to heal faster. Considering my skin was more or less flawless until 2 years ago, and now am riddled with scars, I am just thankful you have confirmed my personal findings. I won't get my old skin back, but I certainly wont need to cake my face in concealer and foundation to hide the mess anymore.

The esthetician I’ve started seeing was freaking out this morning because I said I don’t use a vitamin c serum so here I am! Thanks for all this great information! The vitamin c serum I bought (long ago) was 20% and it really irritated my skin. I didn’t realize that a weaker percentage could mean less irritation. I’m ready to try again with a lower vitamin c percentage formula and feel very well informed after watching this video.

I rarely comment on any video on youtube because I don't really feel like I need to say anything, but I got to say....your channel is AMAZING The way you talk about the products and actually explain the ingredients and what they do and how they affect the skin, it's awesome. It got me really interested in skincare ...I don't know anyone who explains as clearly, with as much detail as you, your voice is so nice to hear too. I was always taught to compliment someone if I thought they deserved, and you definitely do...congratulations for the good work

Is there something more enjoyable and relaxing than Renée's voice talking about Vitamin C during 23(!!) minutes?! I don't think so. 😄 SkinCeuticals serums AND SPF are in my life thanks to you and my skin looks really good now! I don't even wear foundation anymore - this is truly freeing as I used to refuse to go outside if I did not have any makeup on. I still wear makeup since I love it, but I either go with a very light base or nothing at all... and I'm okay with this. Thank you so much, Renée, for being one the influences which helped me getting my confidence back. :-) x Davie

Silvina Alejandra Yes I have. I went through four sample bottles, and finally sprung for the full size. I’ve used 3 full size bottles, and it made a visible difference. Just like Renee said in her video, it was the first vit C product I tried. That was 6+ years ago. Since then, I’ve tried so many vit C serums. The only ones I’ve repurposed are the SokoGlam and CosRx Lightening Serum, and the L Ascorbic Acid Powder from The Ordinary. I seem to get the best results, with a more reasonable price. I really like the lightweight feeling the sokoglam serum has, and it layers so very well! Out of all of The Ordinary’s Vit C products (and I’ve tried them all) the powder is the one I like the best, because it mixes with anything you add it to. Most of the Ordinary’s products are good, but they lack the cosmetic elegance of other higher priced products. Their powder is such an inexpensive way to add that antioxidant boost to anything you’re currently using. Just my two cents.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge, Renee. I am so happy when I see a video from you! I love so many products that you recommend, even though I don't have the same skin type as you do. I have combination skin but they still work beautifully as long as the texture of the product is not too creamy. Please review the May Coop products, I heard good things about them but I really trust your opinion. I would also love it if you would recommend more Japanese skincare. I love the Hada Labo products that you mentioned in previous videos. You are so beautiful and your skin is perfection!

I think it is just a carrier/ diluent and may be a barrier forming agent too. I assume it would be too hydrophobic/large molecule to penetrate skin.

I don't know if you did it because of me or if you have other annoying and pedantic viewers, but thanks a lot for switching to the correct pronunciation of ascorbic acid! 😊 I mean, as a fan of yours and a vitamin c devotee, I clicked the thumb up even before the video started, but that was the cherry on top 😉

As always another informative & balanced video on Vit-C products. I've just gotten my Timeless Vit-C & can't wait to use it. Meanwhile in the stage of using up my Ordinary 23% suspension. I use it on my whole face & neck, I seem to tolerate it well but lately noticing that it stings like crazy on my neck. I don't really like the grainy texture though . In the autumn/winter planning to start on Drunk Elephant, hope it stays stable lying in my drawer since a few months. Thanks beautiful Renee 😘

This video was made a year ago but have to mention my love for the Maelove serum. I keep it in the box and in the refrigerator. On the Maelove website there is a chart to show when it has gone bad it is not irritating inexpensive and does brighten the skin if used daily

Hi Renee, So good to see you. Your skin looks so nice. Thank you for this informant video. Just one question though, do you put the Mae Love or any of them in the refrigerator? I heard from a few people that it keeps the Vitamin C fresher. Anyway, I really appreciated this video Renee. Please Take Care, Just Luv Ya and God Bless You 😇💖

Hi Cindy, I've heard putting C-serums in the fridge have helped others. I personally don't do it because the fact that I' always opening the fridge door, I feel like it causes the temperature to oscillate alot which probably isn't the best thing. So it never made a difference to my products. I just store in a cool dark area

It’s 15% Vit C (per description box) & the pH is 3.2 (per the video). Not sure about %es of the other ingredients. Hope that helps at least a bit!

Hi Bonnie!! The percentage of Vit E and Ferulic acid are different from the skinceuticals in order to create the most stable formulation within the parameters of a different, pH (due to the skinceuticals patent). Out of respect to the brand I won't reveal the exact percentage but there is slightly more ferulic acid than vitamin C. The ferulic is really there as a stabilizer for L-AA so there is a little more. Hope this helps, my love!

Hello Renee! I recently found your videos and I've been loving them! Your videos made me decide to get more serious about taking care of my skin. I do have a concern about your videos that I hope you can address. You often speak about the skin brightening affects of products and I'm wondering if there is a difference between brightening and bleaching. I'm a bi-racial woman of color and I really like my skintone, I've been really interested in trying the Korean and Japanese brands you mention, but I know lightening/bleaching your skintone to make it whiter is still a widely accepted practice there. I do have spots of hyper-pigmentation that I would like to even out, but I don't want to change my overall skintone. Are these products safe for someone who does not want to whiten their overall skintone? Thanks!!

Tasha H. I had the same concern about starting a Paula’s Choice serum with arbutin, which “brightens”. I called their customer service to inquire as to whether it would change my overall complexion. I’m Asian and I hate the look of obviously bleached skin. They let me know that brightening ingredients target excess production of melanin and won’t alter the skin tone you are genetically disposed to.

Brightening is not the same as bleaching. You can use all of these products mentioned by Renee ( in all her videos ) & they would not alter your melanin. I am a dark skin African woman who has been following this channel for years & use a lot of these products. My face is more even, more glowy but no my skin is not bleached

Thanks Ladies! I watch a lot of videos from people of color who teach English in Korea and Japan; one of the common themes when it comes to skincare is that finding products that are free of skin bleaching or skin lightening products can be tricky so I have been hesitant to try products from these countries. You guys have put my worries to rest! :)
