What significantly improved my redness & texture: 1 - Applying at least 3 layers of hydrating toners/essences (I really like Hada Labo Gokujyun, Gokuyjun Premium and Pyunkang Yul Essence Toner) and using mists (I usually stick to thermal water/La Roche-Posays’ Serozinc) in between each layer. What I found out is that hydration is THE KEY to keep the redness at bay. I no longer suffer from flare ups 🥳 2 - (I can’t stress this enough) Using your exfoliants (I use 10% PHA serum/BHA toner + Finacea 15%/20% interchangeably) in the afternoon. I do this right after washing off my makeup when I come from work. Then at night I wash my face with a gentle cleanser (LRP’s Toleriane for example) and again, focusing on hydration + sealimg it all in with a good occlusive. This improved my texture DRAMATICALLY. It’s still there, but it isn’t nearly half as bad as it used to. 3 - I had Soolantra prescribed by my dermatologist about 2 years ago. That was the first thing that actually helped me with my texture. She told me to use it for no longer then a month. I experienced quiet a bad flare up in the 2nd week, but it quickly went away. Btw, Metrogel didn’t help me AT ALL 😒It honeslty felt like a total waste of money 4 - Niacinamide & tranexamic acid both improved the red patchiness in my skin that usually comes with rosacea. Hope it helped :-)

I started to break out all over my nose in the last year. I tried everything to help clear it up - Paula's Choice BHA, Origins Clear Improvements, Good Molecules Niacinamide Serum, BR 1970, the "Super Pore Killer" technique, visits to facialists. What finally ended up working was cleansing with LRP's Salicylic Face wash primarily on my breakout-prone areas, leaving the wash on my face for a few minutes before washing it off, exclusively in the morning, when I'm not using retinoids, or any other acid treatments. I have also stopped drying my face after washing. Instead I apply products to damp skin. I cannot recommend trying these methods enough if you are having similar problems.
@shannondennard56875 жыл бұрын
@@maryarmstrong2231 We all have different skin (obvi), so what works for me might not work for you. But if you're still struggling with breakouts, try out leaving the cleanser on for 1-3 minutes before washing off - you don't have to spend money on a new product, so it's worth a shot.

The Ordinary range has made a world of difference to my skin. TO Salycilic Mask really vacuums my pores. After my first use I experienced a real purge for a week. Huge blackheads were popping out all over my TZone. All that said, I believe steaming is one of the most helpful treatments you can give yourself. I double cleanse, steam, wash the steamed water on my face, pat dry with paper towel, and follow with a mask on soft, open pores. In my sixties, I have a way to go before my pores appear less 'irregular, but the results so far are deeply satisfying. Thank you for this very informative video. ❤

While i was watching your videos I understood how much more important is the skincare so the make up has a perfect appearence. I would kindly like to ask you a video with the basic directions for girls that start to care a little bit more about their skin. Melike Coban I’m a esthetician it a common misunderstanding that aha and bha can’t be use with retinoids. Yes you can use them together. Retinoid and AHA together will accelerate skin turnover. Retinoid and BHA will reduce oil and acne production by preventing dead cell from clogging pores

Locrecia Pelham I ask my boss I work as a medical esthetician and he a cosmetic dermatologist. If you are fighting acne he recommends you spot treat the acne with niacinamide and use the tretinoin after. I wouldn’t do this everyday. Regular retinoid OTC and niacinamide can also be use together. It will depend on your skin you will know the answer on how often you can do this. I been strengthening my skin mid 20s so I can handle a lot of treatment and actives.

The best, albeit temporary, treatment I've tried has been Evan Healy Green Tea Clay. It's available at Whole Foods, I think. It's dry powder clay mixed with matcha that you make fresh with every application, and it's so simple a formulation that I tried to replicate it by mixing my own; it simply didn't replicate the incredibly dramatic shrinkage of open pores. It only lasts a couple days, however!

As always, I love your videos and appreciate how much work and research you do to educate people on skin 😁 I have been using a retinol, daily bha toner and aha mask once a week and my skin has become more sensitive and I'm breaking out!! I've never had acne in my life until now and I'm almost 38. I think my skin was being exfoliated too much and I disrupted my skin barrier allowing funk to penetrate easier. I have now cut all of it out until I can repair my skin barrier so what's your advice for a good exfoliant that won't destroy my face?
@djlivvy465 жыл бұрын
Many people speak highly of the Benton BHA Aloe Toner as it ia very soothing. However, I have super oily skin with pores that clog easily and I found it was just too rich for my skin. I prefer the CosRX AHA or BHA toners as they have a cleaner texture.
@quillpen8155 жыл бұрын
If all these actives are new to you you should probably tackle them one at a time until your skin is acclimated to it. First let your skin recover, then start introducing only the bha toner once or twice a week, then build up your tolerance up to every other day until you've past the purging stage and your skin is less sensitive to this routine. If youre using a particularly strong aha mask like the Ordinary's aha-bha 30%, use it once a month and only on your bha toner off days. Also start off slowly and leave it on for just 3-5 mins at a time. For retinoids/retinol, only start when youre not having adverse reactions to the actives mentioned above; start slow like once a week on your aha/bha off days, work your way towards twice a week until you can handle your retinoid/retinol use at every other day intervals. Remember to not use retinoids/retinols on the same days as your aha/bha days, but if your skin has become so used to it down the road, you can use retinoids/retinol at night, aha/bha in the morning with plenty of sunscreen.
@hannahmartin45755 жыл бұрын

So goooood! I have to agree, this is the foundation of better skin! I’d say 6-8 mths after adding double cleansing/BHAs/niacinamide into skincare, I saw real, lasting effects. Chemical exfoliants were the game changer for me - less stress on my sensitive, dry, aging skin; brighter, smoother complexion from REMOVING gunk (as opposed to piling on PROMISES); added benefit of allowing beneficial product to better penetrate skin. It does take some time but so worth it!! The stretched pores on aging skin is no joke. Boooo gravity 🤣
