Very interesting, I often have trouble focusing while watching a lot of videos but you managed to keep me glued to every word. I was wondering if you would do a video on Italianate architecture. There aren't very many videos and I am struggling to find information.

Now that's what I'm talking about I was waiting for this & it's good you reference the difference influences of each countries style on Gothic architecture. In addition to giving the information on pre & revival movements as well. I agree with your selection for me also there's always an elegance to the buildings. It really does draw you in and you can't help yourself you want to look at every inch of the structure. I can't wait for the 2nd video. Gothic Architecture, Art Literature & Subculture it's all good to me

Awesome Video! What I absolutely love are buildings that are Gothic Style Mixed with Renaissance or Baroque Elements. No matter if they were built at the beginning of the Renaissance, have a long building History that gives it multiple phases, or were built during Historism with mixed Style in mind. Only truly genius architects can make Styles so different look harmonic!

Very well said! I didn't think too much of how beautiful they blend different styles together until just recently.

I got a very bad case of Covid and then Long Covid afterwards at the beginning of the pandemic. To pass the time and to keep my brain as active and functional as possible I began a study of Medieval cathedrals and gothic architecture. Four years later I’m still at it. I am in such awe that the architects, masons and artisans who built these glorious monuments to God without the scientific, technological and mathematical knowledge that is considered absolutely indispensable by architects of today! And, unlike many more modern buildings these ancient buildings continue to stand and be used after several centuries!

Thank you very much for awakening a love of Gothic architecture. The mighty buildings look so beautiful, please more of them and the excellent detailed description of the origin, the structure and the subcategories has made it easier to recognize and classify. Thank you so much for your expansiv work. By the way, the Ulm Minster was built and financed by the people of Ulm. From unfree slave laborers to lower nobility

464 / 5.000 I love your video so much. I would just like to mention the Cistercian order, which spread Gothic throughout Europe as well as England. In England, the Cistercians oppose Henry VIII. and the Reformation, where they were executed and exiled, and many beautiful Gothic monasteries and churches were demolished. For all those who love Gothic, visit the Gothic monasteries and ruins and see the Cistercians, they are literally the Gothic order that really knows the Gothic period best. A lot of people wonder how Gothic took its inspiration from Islam? I'll just say that the Cistercians trained the Crusaders at some point :-P you do the math further

What's your favorite piece of Gothic Architecture?
@michaelyuhas71595 күн бұрын
Asserting the notion that Gothic architecture has no original basis in the European mind and is merely an amalgamation of Arab, Mediterranean, and Armenian influences makes me want to tear them down. They come across as foreign occupation buildings under that narrative. Can the Germanics and the imagination of Abbot Suger have any credit?
