We captured the Gothic Classic trailer directly on Nintendo Switch on a pre-release version that had additional graphic features included. Unfortunately, we were not able to optimize these in time and so we decided to leave them out of the vanilla release version. Our plan is to ship these features with an upcoming patch as soon as possible.

Look at the trailer of the 1st Gothic's port, pay attention to water and lightning - that's the easiest part to tell the difference. Then look at the actual game on Switch. It's like a decently looking game vs potato version.

@@DamianQualshy you're obviously to young to remember but they Developed the game in Germany and we're greatly rushed because at the time everyone started using newer more sophisticated Engines and they tried to do it. But it took too much time. And they had to rush everything else. From combat to skills to quests and actually making the last parts of the game fun and playable. Believe me 1/3rd of the issues don't come from the engine. The engine is not the biggest problem on that game. And definitely won't solve that many issues. Go and check out the Community Patch and then we can come back and have another discussion about this :)

I doubt that. Gothic 1 and 2 run the same engine, so after the switch port for G1 it's way easier for G2. G3 has a completely new engine (hence the look), so it would be way more difficult and G3 is considered disappointing by many fans.

Not gonna lie, as much as I’m happy to see Gothic 2 get the treatment, this feels like double dipping. The Gothic games were clearly developed together and we’re getting separate releases for higher revenue. To be frank, they both should have been bundled for the price of just one. Still, I’ll be happy to buy them if the physical version comes to stores outside the THQ store (dreadful service) and if Gothic 2 has the option to play the vanilla version.

So much love for Gothic out of nowhere. Probably naive, but would be cool if they actually did Gothic 3 remaster too, that at least fixes 60 % of the game, but hey I much rather someone who cares about this IP makes a proper sequel after 3.

Gothic 3 with community patch 1.74 is pretty much 99% fixed

@@coolertuep no it's not. What I mean is complete combat overhaul, proper animation overhaul, armor and character designs overhaul, and adding all those patches with the game, and not something you need to download. I'm not gonna mention story or quest since that one is really unrealistic.

@@davesinsanestudio8072 combat is great with alternative AI, much better than first 2. No issues with animations either. If you want more armors there is the content mod
