About the show:
The nationwide search for the next superstar kicked off in August as the Idol Bus traveled covering 23 cities across the country. Auditioning was made easier than ever as hopefuls also had the opportunity to submit audition videos online as well as via select social media platforms using an official tag The Next Idol cultivating over 300,000 posts. Also for the first time in “American Idol” history hopefuls had the opportunity to audition through a livestream platform.
Helping to determine who America will ultimately vote for to become the next singing sensation are music industry forces and superstar judges Luke Bryan Katy Perry and Lionel Richie. Host and producer Ryan Seacrest will return as host of the beloved series.

Laine should have won BOTH TIMES he was on that show. I don't hear ANYBODY on radio TODAY that can out sing him (including Luke)...... and I, absolutely, LOVE Luke! J/S And I didn't including Mr. Richie because he sings a whole different genre of music than Laine sings. AND not only that, but (I'm going to age myself here) THE COMMODORES were my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE from about 5th grade throughout their breakup when Lionel went solo and HE became my, ABSOLUTE, FAVORITE in late high school and throughout his entire CAREER! So, I wouldn't even put myself in a position to try to compare the two. Although, I ADORE Laine's voice, Mr. Richie and I go way, way back like Cadillac seats and we've been through SO many good times (and a few REALLY, REALLY BAD times). But, he always brought me back to the good times. 😊 (OMG! Not me TEARING UP!) 😢 Funny little coincidences : My oldest son's name is Luke and my youngest's middle name is Lain. ❤
