Very interesting! Love state machines - every time one needs fast predictable operations, FSM is the first thing to go.

Nice to see this one after Frank touched on this a bit with Dave Farley (the engineering room). Maybe a different spin on it, try calling them "deterministic FSM", as an alternative to Martin's "replicated state machines".... then they're replicable, but whether or not you actually replicate them is a separate concern. Maybe as long as you have Redpanda or a similar thing handling the "request log" with Raft, you're fine with one big instance of the FSM at first and can tolerate some downtime.

In this example, state machine can't replicate the details of request from Alice to buy Bitcoin. Because it happens at a point in time based on BUY/SELL at that time. Am I not understanding this correctly.
