Why did God judge Moses so harshly? What was really going on in Exodus 4:24-26? What was the big deal with Moses striking the rock instead of speaking to it?

Moses was supposed to speak to the rock & the 2nd time, because he had a temper, he struck the rock instead. The rock is a type of Christ & Christ can only be struck be ONCE‼️

Even today any salvation by our works is striking the Rock twice. Salvation comes by grace through faith and it is a free gift from God. We now speak to Gods once struck Rock . Jesus said "it is finished" We say amen! Romans 10:9-10

“ correct me if I’m wrong “ Yes Moses prayed 3 times that God would change His mind and God said no do not as me about that again. It’s in Deuteronomy

Mose did not give God the glory, “hear now ye rebels; must we fetch you out water out of this rock?” He was putting himself on equal ground with God.

Moses was circumcised on the eighth day according to the covenant the Lord gave to Abraham, which may have been why Pharaoh's daughter was so quick to recognize Moses as a Hebrew baby. I am sure Zipporah would have noticed and asked Moses about it and heard about that covenant. She would have been somewhat quick to figure out what needed to happen, even if she did not like it.

That is why Moses knew he was different growing up. He had God's Abrahamic covenant established in his body. He has forsaken this with his son. Now we have the circumcision of the heart made without hands. 😅

Maybe it was God’s intention from the beginning to have Joshua lead the people into the promised land.

Moses is a shadow and type and embodiment of the law. The Old covenant of the law can point to and see the promise of the new covenant of grace but cannot enter in. The new and living way was ushered in by Jesus who was struck once and for all and shed His blood once for forgiveness of all sin. This new covenant of grace does away with the law of sin and death for those that have entered into God's promised grace land. For those that haven't the law serves the purpose it was given to show us we are spiritually dead and in need of the Savior who's finished work of His death burial and resurrection fulfilled the requirements of God's law that no man including Moses and Aaron or you or me can keep. Jesus kept it for us. Thank you Jesus on this day of Thanksgiving 2024 . I love the way the Got Questions ministry always finds a path to the cross and empty tomb and resurrection of Christ to answer questions.

How are these difficult passages. Don't people realize we are just balls of mud. Created by God for God. He can and dose whatever he wants. What is so difficult about that. Either love him for it or hat Him for it. But understand this no matter what you choose you will now down before Him.

MOSSES SINNED AGAINST GOD BY HITTING THE STAF ON THE ROCK INSTEAD OF TOUCHING IT...THATS THE ONLY REASON THE BIBLE GIVE US..BUT GOD COULD FORGIVE HIM SO THE QUESTION IS ASSUMING MOSES WENT TO THE PROMISE LAND?? WILL HE NOT BE WORSHIPED??? JOHN THE BAPTIST HAD TO DIE AFTER CHRIST STARTED HIS MINISTRY...

Moses messed up the prophecy. I provided a longer explanation in comments. Moses was not corrected (punishment would have been death, akin to being a false prophet), but he had to be rebuked. Paul provides the prophecy in 1 Cor. I wouldn't say John the Baptist had to die. You make it sound as if it was G-d's judgement, and that is not written anywhere.

“There is no one righteous, not even one; Romans 3;23 Where does GOD draw the line ? certainly not with His spokesman .and example This was Israel under the law, not grace. Yet even here the grace and mercy of God shines through in showing Moses the promised land. Moses was probably more than happy to not carry on leading the people. Keep in mind that Moses appeared with Jesus on the Mount of transfiguration, so all was well in the end

Once G-d provided His covenant-keeping name to Moses (Exodus 4:14-15), Moses was bound by the same requirements as Abraham (to circumcise on the 8th day). YHWH's 'breath' (spoken word) is so strong, nothing will change the outcome. Exodus 4:24-26 is written strange...the LORD was going to kill Moses' uncircumcised son, not Moses, for the reasons above. Regarding extracting water from the rock, Moses was told to strike the rock at Horeb, where the LORD stood before Moses and in the. sight of the elders (Exodus 17:6). Moses was told to "speak to" the rock the second time (Numbers 20:8-11). The rock was serving two purposes: 1. to give water to the Israelites and 2. to serve as a prophecy for Jesus' coming as the Messiah (See 1 Cor. 10:1-4). While I can see how Moses' words could be in question, the reality is that Moses messed up the prophecy...the rock was Jesus Christ, intended to be struck the first time and spoke to the second to produce the same outcome...living water. Moses went unchecked (he wasn't killed on the spot), but he was rebuked...he couldn't enter the Promised Land.
