faith without works is dead because of the verse "by their fruits you will know them"; good works is a sign to other people that your faith is genuine. but works is not required to be saved and go to Heaven; some pple dont have the time to display "works" ie deathbed salvation; or moments before a life ending accident etc, ie thief on the cross.

Amen, works are of Jesus Christ displaying His finished work through believers through grace, not to earn salvation on our own. Works are for God’s will-plan and purpose Only GOD (declares) who is saved and who isn't not human beings. James is expressing what our lives indicate because many act like sinners not Saints, you act like what you believe. Deathbed and the cross confession’s are unique to those people but for those who aren’t in those positions should be demonstrating saving faith, if not examine yourselves to see if you’re in the faith. Romans 9:15-16 💝 "For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion.” So then it is not of him who wills, nor of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy"

Wrong. The thief on the cross did “do” something - he confessed with his mouth that Jesus is Lord. Romans 10: 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

I say Faith without works is dead, and Works without Faith is dead also. I understand this because when I accepted Christ the first time as time went on I was a "Lukewarm Christian". I believed in who he was and that he died for me on the cross for my salvation, but I was still living in sin in some ways while going to church. Much later I realized that God's Commandments are the same yesterday, today and in the future. People changed, not God or his laws. I've asked God to forgive me for my sin and to help me each day to do what I should. I'm not perfect, but over time I can see how much has changed within me. I no longer want that former life, for it only brought me heart ache. If I had listened to his commands before, maybe I would not have gone down that bad path. Please pray for me that I will continue to try to do God's will, so I will never hear those terrible words, "I never knew you".

Please pray for me that I will continue to try to do God's will, so I will never hear those terrible words, "I never knew you." Isn´t that work salvation? Jesus did ALL the work! You just have to believe, and he will never say those words to you. Once you are saved, the Holy Spirit begins to work so you can become a saint. And is there when you start to show good fruit. Pay attention to what the Holy Spirit says to you, and obey. God bless you.

"The i never knew you" verse if reading with context is for those who dont do the will of the father, which is to believe on Jesus. The people who jesus tells "i never knew you depart from me ye who worketh iniquity" was to the person who trusts and boasts on their own works to get to heaven. Its "grace through faith" that saves, so if you're doing good works you're not covered by grace. •romans 4:4-5 "For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God. For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." When you work for salvation instead of trusting in what jesus already done on the cross, you are denying what the righteousness of jesus and going for your own righteousness. •romans 10:3 "For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth." By working for your own righteousness you cancel out grace • Romans 11:6 "And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work." You can tell by that verse that works and grace needs to be seperate and cant be mixed like at all. I feel even this video is backloading works which is also a perversion of the gospel. Because if ones salvation is "proven" by works then it makes the person look to their works and what they do rather than trusting christ and what he did for your salvation • Eph 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." sure he may say salvation is by faith and not by works but then he follows it by saying works are required to serve as evidence of a changed life, which is the prime example of backloading works, aka sneaky works based salvation because it still implies that works save. Which if you run it back to the first verse you'd see that abraham would be justified by works but not in the eyes of God, faith without works is dead faith in the eyes of man. But God doesnt judge you on your works when it comes to being saved but rather he judges on whether or not you trusted in Jesus's sacrifice. Man knows you're saved based on your changed life, God knows you're saved based on faith. Faith, trust and belief is synonymous. Thats why when its talking about salvation they use those words interchangeably. Your trusting jesus died in your place and covered your sins with his blood, your having faith that jesus died in your place and covered your sins in his blood, you believe jesus died in your place and covered your sins with his blood. Its never about what you do outside of that. Hence • Eph 2:8-9 "For BY GRACE ARE YE SAVED THROUGH FAITH; and that NOT OF YOURSELVES: it is the GIFT of GOD: NOT OF WORKS, lest any man should boast." Its not of yourselves not of works. You simply trust that his sacrifice was sufficient. We can try to rid ourselves of sin but sin will still be there. Paul is an example of this •romans 7:15 "For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that it is good. Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me." Theres a reason we linger on the hope that christ comes back. When he claims his people we get gloried bodies but until then its a constant war between flesh and spirit. Our flesh is tainted but the holy spirit wants us to walk in him rather than our flesh. Walking in flesh leads to sin, walking in spirit strengthens us against sin, thus we're called to walk in him as much as possible, but the bottom line is as long as we have flesh we will inevitably succumb to sin. Regardless faith saves, and leaning onto anything outside of faith for salvation cancels the grace of God out causing us to be estranged to God. Im not saying "don't do good works" but recognize that works dont earn or maintain salvation, were saved unto good works meaning we "should' but not "must" do good works. Its a right, not requirement. We do it because it's good and profitable not because we "need to". I recommend you mark and avoid this channel. Stay safe brethren.

James is about our justification in the sight of men but not before God. Men. Can't actually justify us in any way, but rather it's their opinion. Abraham believed God and it was accredited to him for righteousness. This was long before he ever left Ur or offered up his son on the altar. He was justified in the sight of men who would later read the account in Genesis and Hebrews. Abraham was justified before God by faith alone. Men can't see our faith but they certainly can see our works. Simple enough, I can choose to have an alive faith or a dead faith, nothing to do with salvation at all. James is really about having a practical faith that helps others and cannot contradict Galatians 2: 16, 2: 21, Ephesians 2: 8, 9, 10, Romans 3:28, Romans 4: 5, 6, and Romans 11: 6, which clearly seperate faith from works of any kind (Mosaic Law or the laws written on our hearts). Saving repentance is realizing that you are a sinner deserving of God's just punishment in Hell and turn (repent) from whatever you trusted in before, if indeed you trusted in anything; to trusting in the person and finished work of Christ "alone" for salvation.

@@hogansheroes2793 I’m struggling with this bro. There was a time where I was living in the joy of salvation and started to truly want and to good things or works I guess for God. But I got angry at these sinful desires and got tired of fighting them and didn’t want to go any longer, I eventually fell back into sin. I’m not sure if I was ever saved to begin with now. @@Ruben27780 My suggestion; you should stop fruit inspecting yourself. If you've ever trusted in the person and finished work of Christ *alone* for salvation, then you are saved and that's permanent. Works don't prove your salvation anymore than having red blood cells proves you're human. All works can prove in *an already saved person* is their level of Christian maturity, *nothing else* ! False teachers redefine faith as obedience and belief as total commitment. Let's help them with the Biblical definition of faith. *Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen.*

But salvation eternal life requires our good works (Gal 6:7-9) it require our obedience to Christ. (Heb 5:8-10) I don't think you have read the bible. If you read it rather than just looking at proof text you would know that John 3:16-21 tells us that the believer must turn from sin and darkness and so works of God. We are also told in Eph 2:8-10 that we are ordained by God to do good works, What the verse is telling us is that the works that necessarily accompany us are not something we have do but his forgiveness for our sin. If you read a bit of the bible you will find out that St Paul teaches faith must uphold Christ's Law. The question is what kind of judgement, James says that we will be judged by the law of freedom and thats not the 10 Commandments, he then says that faith will not save you from that judgement, he doesnt say that faith will not save you from the lake of fire. A very important distinction is the MY faith does not produce anything. I progress faith, but God, who seeks the humble and contrite, judges the heart and His judgements are perfect and true. When He judges you to be humble and contrite, He, “removes the heart of stone and replaces it with a heart of flesh,” and, “He writes His Law upon you heart and causes you to obey.” (rough quote of multiple OT promises of the Indwelling). Paul also says that the Spirit pours out agape in your heart. This is why 1John says over and over that agape and obedience are the things that allow you to know you have eternal life.

If one Trusts in God, naturally that one will seek out His ways, and follow Him. If I truly believe in Jesus, will I look for loopholes around obeying His commandments? On the other hand why didn't Jesus say explicitly: "All whom believe in me, and therefore follow my commandments shall be saved" ? IMO He doesn't want to provide the accuser another tool to condemn us with. Jesus wants to show us mercy, and He paid for that on the cross. So may His great love blossom in our hearts and bear much fruit.

Very good explanation. I've been wondering exactly what this meant. I was just recently talking to God about how people say that all you have to do is confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and that you will be saved. I was thinking to myself... Noooo, stop telling people that this is all you have to do. Thank you.

For sure it's very wrong to quote 3:16 then follow up with "and that's it - your sealed - all future sins pre-forgiven - your free now it's ok to sin like the devil". Jesus would say "all whom believe in me should not perish" then followed up in subsequent teachings what this faith should look like.

Then one of the criminals who were hanged blasphemed Him, saying, “If You are the Christ, save Yourself and us.” But the other, answering, rebuked him, saying, “Do you not even fear God, seeing you are under the same condemnation? And we indeed justly, for we receive the due reward of our deeds; but this Man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said to Jesus, “Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom.” And Jesus said to him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise.” This verse really gave me a lot of reassurance over the years. Don’t confuse “works” with the commandments. Paul was an ex Pharisee. Pharisees had laws requiring works to obey (DOING the ceremonial washing of hands, for example), while God’s commandments requires faith to obey (the NOT doing things such as adultery). Paul denounced works-based salvation of the Pharisees and upheld obedience to God’s commandments.

Hello I have a question I come in good faith! What about the New covenant with Jesus and the two commandments? From my understanding we are saved by grace alone through faith in Jesus Christ. It was asked if since we are saved by grace are we to continue sinning? And the answer to that was of course not, which leads us into James explaining how faith without works is dead it's quite clear at least to me. And continues to tell us that good works is evidence of salvation and not what saves us. Think about it this way, should Christians really be going to parties, drinking getting high and getting drunk, having one night stands, continuing to lie cheat and blaspheme and swear and continue a life of misery? It's one thing to have head knowledge about Jesus Christ and Believe on his name and it's one thing to show him that you believe. The reason why good works is evidence of salvation and and not the reason why you are saved is because you are going to fall short but since you are an eternally secured he allows you to get back up and continue on having faith. God does not expect you to be perfect he just wants you to be obedient. We show people that we love them all the time we've done it to people that we love whether it be buying them dinner flowers tickets to a movie we've showed appreciation and love which are all forms of works. Keeping the two commandments are a form of works you have to actively acknowledge. Choosing God choosing to love people. It all boils down to choice. Living life in continual sin as if nothing changed before you believed in Jesus Christ is kind of like throwing dirt in his face and taking the paycheck.. people say that they love Jesus and believe in him yet have no motive to repent / turn away from sin and towards God which is very doable with the help of the holy Spirit. After we believe in Jesus Christ is truly when we start our spiritual walk with Christ. He didn't abolish The ten commandments if anything we are now under a more narrow path. We now have the holy Spirit which can convict us of anything and everything. We now have the ability to stop continual sin, and even though we will never be sinless faith without works is dead. I hope I was able to clarify anything and I would love to hear your response! I'm still learning as I go along.

Saying that works are evidence of salvation is just a sly way of corrupting the Gospel with works. James chapter 2 is simply a call to believers to spread the Gospel and 'cloth' the naked and 'feed' the hungry with the message of Christ. Failing to do so means their faith is unfruitful for others, but has nothing to do with their standing in the Body of Christ.

When the carnal fleshy mind cannot understand something, it then makes things up to satisfy its desire for understanding. This is what is happening in this example, because the speaker does not understand what Faith and Works really is. In fact, most of the church system does not understand Faith and Works. I cannot wait for God to start teaching them. Faith means to “Hear the voice of God.” The examples given in Hebrews chapter 11 are all examples of a person hearing God speak to them, 19 examples to be exact. The number 19 in scripture means “Faith”. An example would be in Hebrews 11:17, when scripture tells us that Abraham offered up his son Isaac by Faith. This is because Abraham heard God tell him to do so. The book of James is about being “Obedient”. The same example of Abraham is given in James 2:21, but now scripture is showing how Abraham was justified by “Works”. Works means “to obey God”. If God tells you to do something, and you do it, then you are doing your “Works”, you are being obedient. Hebrews 11 is all about hearing, James 2 is all about obeying, both must go hand in hand. In order to be obedient one must first Hear, so what we are seeing is that Abraham first Heard God tell him to sacrifice his son, and then in James we see how Abraham obeyed God thus perfecting his Faith. We must first have Faith before we can have Works. But in order to perfect our hearing we must obey, for if we do not obey, then our hearing is dead. But if we obey, then we are justified in the eyes of God. James 1:22 says “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves”. Most today cannot hear God. Why? Because it was prophesied in scripture that we would not be able to hear God, for Amos 8:11 says “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD:” Jesus was our example, for He was obedient unto death. Much of Paul’s writings are about hearing God and it is assumed that you are also being obedient, because Faith is not Faith unless Obedience is involved. This is the New Covenant law, the Law of Faith (Romans 3:27). If you hear God and obey Him, then you are following the law of God and this is how righteousness is imputed towards you. Most cases where the scriptures use the word “Believe”, the word should actually be translated as Faith. Because of the mistranslations into English this whole point in scripture has not been understood. If God speaks to someone and gives them revelation through the spirit, only then is scripture translated in its proper form. Most today do not have Faith, they have a belief. But time is coming where all will have Faith. Blessings

If their manner of living and deeds show the opposite, they are deceiving themselves if they think they can name grace as their excuse for living a sinful lifestyle. We are servants to whom we obey! Obedience unto righteousness, unto holiness, or sin unto death! You will know them by their fruit. True saving faith is doing what you confess you believe!

James was preaching to already converted Jews. He called them brethren. He was telling them to go on to good works for profit, rewards in heaven. First Corinthians 3:11-15. Never for salvation. Romans 4:5-8. Romans 3:26-28. Romans 11:6. If good works could save us, then Jesus died in vain. Galatians 2;21 James 2:10. If we have committed one sin, one teeny lie, we are as guilty as if we have committed them all.

If you are not contradicting what James says, I don't know what a contradiction is. James 2:24 "One is JUSTIFIED by works, and not by faith alone." 04:30 "The other error in regards to works and faith is to attempt to make works part of what JUSTIFIES us before God. The mixture of works and faith to earn salvation is totally contrary to what Scripture teaches." The only way to reconcile what you're saying with what James is saying... (see my reply below.)
@mjt532
@mjt532 5 ай бұрын
The ONLY way to reconcile what you're saying with what James is saying, is to argue that in v 24, James does not refer to justification before GOD. Many Christians make this argument, that James means justification before MEN. But he clearly means justification before GOD. Verse 14 asks the hypothetical question "If a man says he has faith but does not have works, can [that] faith SAVE him?" He answers this hypothetical question three times in this chapter... and most importantly, in v. 24: "We see that a man is considered righteous [clearly, before God] by works, and *not by faith alone*." If James is instead referring to justification before MEN, as many Christians claim, this is what James is saying: (Hypothetical question, v. 14) "If a man says he has faith but does not have works, can he be saved?" (Answer, in v. 24) "We see that a man is justified [before men] by works and not by faith alone." Wait... James is asking a hypothetical about salvation [one's standing before GOD], and he answers this question by talking about how one's standing before MEN? Did James lose his train of thought? This explanation makes no sense. It has James asking a hypothetical question in v. 14, and answering a completely different hypothetical question in v. 24. So... in making this argument, you are throwing James under the bus. James clearly teaches salvation [which he clearly equates with justification] by faith and works both. It's that simple.

Works is often confused with the Law (of Moses, which is laid out in the 5 early books of the OT)...these are not the same. The numerous passages that connect "keeping" the commandments with salvation, are referring to, but not restricted to, the modified 'commandments' Jesus gives in Mathew 19:17-19. Are these the works (or at least part thereof) that James refers to in James 2:24, "You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only" - NOT BY FAITH ONLY! In the Revelation letters to the seven churches, Jesus makes numerous connections to salvation being connected to "overcoming". In Rev.3, He even goes as far to say, "He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not BLOT OUT HIS NAME FROM THE BOOK OF LIFE..." How is that not a connections of 'works' to salvation? The passage is saying that it is, but that also the loosing of one's salvation is a process of not overcoming, of not keeping the commandments. This obviously implies a combination of time and effort to engaged the Holy Spirit in prayer and supplication and truth, to be able to overcome, and is not a case of being saved one day - loosing it the next - and then saved again a week hence.

'Faith without works is dead', is comparable to a boolean proof. It's like saying heads does not exist without tails. Or Light does not exist without dark (which is a false proof). Or good does not exist without evil (yet another false proof). Faith alone is a blatantly false statement considering 'not by faith only' is provided for us in scripture (also in the book of James).

If a employer hires a new man, but the new man does not "do his job", say, keeps going to the "water cooler" so that he does practically nothing for his job, is he really "working" for his employer, or is he just trying to "get by" with as little work as possible ? What would call that type of person ? One word - lazy. At Matthew 25, Jesus gives an illustration of a man who was about to travel abroad and gave three of his slaves "talents" to do "business with" while he away, in which upon the return of the man, two of the slaves came forward and showed that they "worked" hard to gain financially for their master. For their hard "work", the master commended them, saying to the two slaves: "Well done, good and faithful slave(s) ! You were faithful over a few things. I will appoint you over many things. Enter into the joy of your master.’ However, one slave took his one talent and buried it in the ground, doing nothing with it for his master. How did his master respond to him ? Jesus tells us, saying: "Finally the slave who had received the one talent came forward and said: ‘Master, I knew you to be a demanding man, reaping where you did not sow and gathering where you did not winnow. So I grew afraid and went and hid your talent in the ground. Here, you have what is yours.’ In reply his master said to him: ‘WICKED and SLUGGISH slave, you knew, did you, that I reaped where I did not sow and gathered where I did not winnow ? Well, then, you should have deposited my money with the bankers, and on my coming I would have received it back with interest." “‘Therefore, take the talent away from him and give it to the one who has the ten talents. For to everyone who has (of being hard "workers" for God's Kingdom, Matt 25:1), more will be given, and he will have an abundance. But the one who does not have (because of being wicked and sluggish with regards to Kingdom interests), even what he has will be taken away from him. And throw the good-for-nothing slave out into the darkness outside. There is where his weeping and the gnashing of his teeth will be.’ "(Matt 25:14-30) That pretty well sums it up as regards having "works". At Matthew 28:19, 20, Jesus gave the command: "Go, therefore, and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you". How many are going to the homes of the people around the earth (see Acts 5:42; 20:20), looking for "deserving ones" (Matt 13:11), working diligently to reason with them about God's Kingdom (Matt 24:14), "teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you" if they listen ? Are not "works" required to do this ? How many are carefully following Jesus words: "These things I command you, that you LOVE ONE ANOTHER. If the world hates you, you know that it has hated me before it hated you. If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are NO PART of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, for this reason the world hates you. Keep in mind the word I said to you: A slave is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have observed my word, they will also observe yours" ?(John 15:17-20) How many are truly ' loving one another ', showing it by their "works", unwilling to pick any weapon (even a person's fists, or cutting words, see Prov 12:18a) and harm another person, be it in war or otherwise ? How many are "working" hard to follow Isaiah 2, that says: "In the final part of the days (that began in 1914), the mountain of the house of Jehovah (or true worship of Jehovah) will become firmly established above the top of the mountains (or human political governments), and it will be raised up above the hills (human institutions that the nations look to for support), and to it all the nations will stream." "And many peoples will go and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah (to learn what "works" pleases him), to the house of the God of Jacob. He will instruct us about his ways (or "works" required to gain his favor), and we will walk in his paths (of peace).” For law will go out of (symbolic) Zion, and the word of Jehovah out of (symbolic) Jerusalem. He will render judgment among the nations and set matters straight respecting many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning shears. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, nor will they learn war anymore."(Isa 2:2-4) How many are politically neutral, being "NO PART of the world" with its deadly, dirty and divisive politics, showing it by their "works" ? When Jesus was standing before Pilate, Jesus told him: "My Kingdom is NO PART of this world. If my Kingdom were part of this world, my attendants would have FOUGHT that I should not be handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my Kingdom is NOT from this source" ?(John 18:36) This is just a small "taste" of what "works" that are required by Jehovah God to gain life forever. At Matthew 16:27, Jesus said: "For the Son of man is to come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will REPAY each one according to his behavior ("behavior", Greek praxin, meaning "practice, i.e. an act")" at Armageddon, "the war of the great day of God the Almighty".(Rev 16:14, 16) So, where will you be standing when this time arrives ? Based only on "faith" or on a "works-based faith" ?(James 2:14-26)

Saving repentance is realizing that you are a sinner deserving of God's just punishment in Hell and turn (repent) from whatever you trusted in before, if indeed you trusted in anything; to trusting in the person and finished work of Christ "alone" for salvation. Mr. Got Questions in this video claims that it is an error to believe that works are part of what justifies us. With that, he has thrown the Bible and 2000 years of Christian teaching out the window. Here is what the Bible says, James 2:21 *Was not Abraham our father justified by works* , when he offered his son Isaac upon the altar? 22 You see that faith was active along with his works, and faith was completed by works, 23 and the scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was reckoned to him as righteousness”; and he was called the friend of God. 24 You see that a man is justified by works and not by faith alone. 25 And in the same way *was not also Rahab the harlot justified by works* when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? James wants his readers to know that he is emphatically clear that Rahab and Abraham were JUSTIFIED BY WORKS. James then says that Abraham believed God and thus made righteous, which is just another way of saying that he was justified. By doing this James is making it very clear that it is Faith PLUS Works that justifies us. This is really simple. Just ask yourself if Abraham would have still been justified if he had said no to God? Genesis 22: After these things God tested Abraham, and said to him, “Abraham!” And he said, “Here am I.” 2 He said, “Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Mori′ah, and offer him there as a burnt offering upon one of the mountains of which I shall tell you.” And Abraham said, " No Lord, I will not sacrifice my son to you." And God said to Abraham, "That is your choice, for you are secure in your justification, therefore you do not have to obey my commands." Mr. Got Questions wants you to believe that as a Believer, you don't have to do good works , i.e., bear good fruit in order to be saved. However, let's see what Jesus has to say about it. Mt. 7:19 *Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire* . You cannot reconcile these two opposing doctrines. My friends it is very simple. If you Believe and do good works then you get to go to Heaven. If you Believe and you disobey then you get to go to Hell.

Gal 1:6-9 is a warning to those who teach a wrong Gospel eg AND WORKS to be justified. 6 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: 7 Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. 9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

First Corinthians 3:11-15. Romans 4:2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he would have something to glory in, boast in, but not before God. Abraham believed God, and was justified by FAITH. Abraham was justified by faith alone apart from works before God, and justified before men by works. Romans 3:26-28 For He is the just and the justifier of them that BELIEVE in Jesus. Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? By the law of works? Nay, but by the law of FAITH. Therefore we conclude a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law. For by the law shall not flesh be justified. The law is good, but the law cannot save us who have broken Gods laws. The GOOD NEWS. Romans 6:23 For the penalty for sin is death, BUT, THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE, through Jesus finished work on the cross apart from any works. Jesus paid it all and we paid 0. You cannot boast in free gift that we did nothing for. Assurance of salvation by grace. First John 5:13. These things have I written unto you that BELIEVE on the name of the Son of God, that ye may KNOW YE HAVE ETERNAL LIFE. God cannot lie. John 5:24. John 6:47. John 6:40. John 6:29. Romans 4:5. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on Him that justifieth the UNGODLY, his faith is counted for RIGHTEOUSNESS. Without His perfect righteousness, no one will see God. John 3:18. UNBELIEF is the only sin that keeps people out of heaven. Once we believe on Jesus as the only way of salvation, apart from any works, He gives us ETERNAL LIFE. Romans 4:6.

"The other error in regards to works and faith is to attempt to make works part of what justifies us before God. The mixture of works and faith to earn salvation is totally contrary to what scripture teaches." Well said. But check this out: James 2:21 - Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? James is arguing for the very thing you just said the scriptures do not support. This is a CONTRADICTION. This theology BREAKS CANON. Unless you're completely drunk on the Kool-Aid, you have to believe your lying eyes. James is teaching error. The passages that are in conflict are Romans 4:2 and James 2:21. The conflict isn't between "faith without works is dead" and Paul's teaching on justification by faith. Those are compatible. But if you keep reading in James 2 then you will stumble over the conflicting contradiction.

It’s dead according to benefiting others, but faith in Christ alone does save. Salvation “should” result in good works. True faith DOES NOT “always” result in good works, let’s remember the thief on the cross, or what about the criminal in solitary confinement who trust in Christ and was saved in jail. Nobody will see his works, he can’t even get baptized. Good works SHOULD be a result of salvation, but good works are not required. Good works point to salvation but are not required. Faith alone does save, faith with works BENEFITS people here on earth and yes, you will get a reward on TOP of your salvation, whether it’s a blessed life here or jewels in your crown there. Salvation = Believing in Christ finished work, if I add anything else, it’s not of Christ it’s some of me. It’s all Christ, my works mean nothing and look like filthy rags.
