I just recently started playing for my church and after 3 months I have gotten decent with basic chord structures. I used to want to be the second guy (the two MacBooks took me out by the way). But I have noticed the music we play actually benefits from just keeping it simple. Even during prayer sometimes I just play one key up and down the board and that just allows the Spirit to do what he wants. Grateful to see this, it’s very true.

Lol I still prefer and miss that old way of playing, so if we wanted to go into a praise break or go with the flow of the spirit in the room: *_•As the drummer, I would look at the keyboard/piano_* 👀🗣️ *_•Then they would glance at the organ player_* 👀🗣️ *_•Then the organist would look at the bass player_* 👀🗣️ *_•Then the bass player would look at aux. percussion_* 👀🗣️ And we would instantly know where to go instrumentally 😄. We could communicate with just our eyes and mouthing the words. Plus it helps when you have been playing together for some time, so everybody can anticipate the next persons move. 😅
