i believe the tessitura started to get the best of Marton especially at 14:28 :-) she was no longer able to float the phrases... but i prefer the color of her voice to none other for this role... she has that big huge sound but the perfect squillo and darker timbre yet she can sill reach those high C's(though she had difficulty with the high C here)... her C's doesnt go sharp the way G. Jones does (another fave in this role but second to Marton in over all color... though Jones wins in terms of her legato)

Harold Hardin her sound is just gargantuan and she sounds really good here. I'm so sad I didn't see her

I know someone who was a conductor who attended the performance and he said it was really a matter of pacing. If all she sang was the immolation scene in concert she's fine. However, this coming at the very end of nearly six hours was just very tiring especially because she sang at full tilt all the time.

I love her Brunnhilde much better than Hildegard Behrens who to my ears didn't have the heft and the right dark sound that Marton has it is a dark big voice. Her Brunnhilde has a lot of emotion in it as well. Great acting great scenery great everything love it!!!!

all together this Opera is almost 15 hours long! it has four parts this is the last part!

Many singing Brünnhilde today sound like soubrettes compared with Marton!

Fantastic. She was a little tired at the end, but then this is a very long opera!

After seeing and listening to many "nowardays" Brunnehilde, i must admit that mrs MARTON was a great Brunnehilde !!!! It's a pity that she is not more present on that site.... (she recorded that role with Haitink in late 80's, but very confidential - recarding to the "offical critics" !!)... She was great.... Brava !!

Yes !! great..... not THE BEST but very honorable performance...!!! i think this is from ORANGE performances in late 80's (Haitink recording of TETRALOGIE)....... tell me if i'm wrong....... ;)

Marton looks and sounds great here. I just wish more costume designers would take note!
