Gottfried Andreas, bavarian snowshoe trooper in the Alpenkorps of WW 1. Sella Pass and more. Part 1

Photo estate of Gottfried Andreas, a Viennese who joined the Bavarian army as a war volunteer at the age of 17. The estate consists of two photo albums. This video shows the first part of this estate.

Gottfired Andreas, born in Vienna in the Austro.- Hungarian empire, volunteered in the age of 17 and joined the Bavarian army in January 1915.
The photo material from the album and compiled here into a video documents the training and the special ski training of the snowshoe troop, then in May 1915 the front deployment on the German S-West Front in the Vosges, followed by the transport by train to the Italian front and the front deployment in the high mountains.
I would like to draw your attention to the recently published reference book by Alexander Jordan on the subject of German mountain troops in the First World War, which also contains photos from Andreas' estate.
