Beautiful. Such a mellow, fragile sounding instrument. Too bad it is so rare.

Not rare these days. Several major manufacturers produce the ophicleide.

Perhaps the Schule für Ophicleide by Erhard Schwartz www.koebl.de/de/category/Schulen/Schwartz-Erhard-Schule-fuer-Ophicleide-_000544617/index.php?page=1&db=Noten&id=*000544617 Another publication by our team is in preparation.

terrific.

The ophicleide looks tough to play. His upper hand seems to be playing the lower notes and the lower hand playing the upper notes. It's like he's trying to play upside down and backward.
@TheodoreBrown3143 жыл бұрын
The way the ophicleide works is effectively backwards from a standard brass instrument - when you press a key, it opens a hole instead of closing one (the exception being the thumb key). The RH keys would therefore raise the pitch by a small amount, and the LH keys would therefore raise it by a larger amount. Because the high note harmonics are close together, you wouldn’t need to use the LH keys very often (Hell, I know you didn’t ask for an explanation, but I figure you might be interested?)

Bravo! Ophicleide in C? Made by who and what year? Danke!
@fspinterpretation7 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's an ophicleide in C, a replica made by Konrad Burri, Zimmerwald (Switzerland) in about 2008.

Is this being played on a genuine ophicleide or a reproduction?
@fspinterpretation2 жыл бұрын
This is a reproduction - but of course it is still a genuine ophicleide (yet built in the 21st century).
@demotester30956 жыл бұрын
