So, in order to keep the price down,: We need a wheel with some dead weight inside. You get the stability without the price. Or even better, switch to lower energy density batteries. Extra weight for same capacity and even lower cost.

Good talking points. I don't agree that a $3600 USD wheel can be the new standard for any EUC company. Heavy wheels are definitely more stable at speed but also less nimble and responsive as you noted. I think the MSP/MSX size factor and price point are where the majority of the masses wind up.

Because a heavy wheel brings down the Centre of Mass of the EUC+Rider system. The lower the centre of mass the more stable the system becomes. For straight line speed but especially through corners. Think Formula 1. The Sherman is amazingly stable for cornering. Like a motorcycle. Stable enough that I feel comfortable practicing long power slides on it. But when I try the same on my 16x it feels completely wrong. Like I'm gonna fall off every time. The 16x is a flimsy toy in comparison.

I think that single wheel wobble has to have some physics connection to death wobble in 4 wheeled vehicles. It has to be tied to initial side force (hitting a bump), freedom of movement (worn components/leg strength), and caster (the steering angle/peddle angle). Or maybe more closely to a shopping cart caster wheel, since our legs are not connected at the center of our feet. I wish someone could professionally analyze this issue for the EUC community. We need a graduate level college student to do their master's thesis on this😁.

As a MechEng honours grad I can chime in on this. It does have many connections with 4 wheeled vehicles but also has many major differences. On our EUCs our legs act as the steering column and the damper system simultaneously. This means that there is very little that can be done to mitigate these things compared to with cars and motorcycles. And the fact that there's only one wheel means all of the forces are focused to one point. This is both good and bad. Bad in the sense that there are less contact points. Good in the sense that there are no torques (i.e. moments) on the vehicle created as a result of going through road irregularities. For example when you ride over a bump on a bicycle there will be front to back rocking of the vehicle that will reduce stability. With 4 wheels there will be front to back and side to side rocking of the vehicle. Where the car can even flip on its side. That rocking is a result of the torque (moment) that I'm referring to. With an EUC there is ZERO torque on the system incurred by bumps/holes. It simply bounces up and down which is far better for stability. I uploaded a vid where I ride through a large hole at the beach at 60 km/h. The conclusion I would make is that wobbles on an EUC are mostly down to weight distribution and wheel profile. A symmetrically balanced wheel like the Sherman offers tremendous stability. And it has been said that the knobby tyre and road tyre offer different levels of stability with regard to wobbles. But the main conclusion I would draw is that rider skill is the number 1 factor. Since our legs must act as the steering column and the damping system (and the suspension in most cases) your skill level will by far be the biggest determinant of the final result. I used to get a couple of wobbles on my Sherman but now I don't get any. Even if I'm braking super hard.

I was hoping the EXN would be a performance wheel (like the MSuper) but with better range. I have an RS-19 HS and Sherman. I'm a big guy (193cm tall and 113 kg) but I still have some trouble doing tight maneuvers on my Sherman without significant stress on my knees. Also at my weight It's hard to get a lot of distance out of an 1800wh wheel because I like to ride fast. It seems the EXN might be right in that sweet spot between weight and performance.

performance doesn't mean speed and power. Performance is how well the product "performs"...you have it all wrong I think. Begode has it all wrong. keep making bigger, heavier wheels with more power and more battery without even increasing the range because it uses so much battery...A EUC is something that should be easily transportable, when it becomes the weight of a motorcycle it loses it's purpose. I want lighter wheels that have an optimised shape, more confort, better riding experience more range per WH, more security, redundancy, water proofing, better materials and components etc...
@MADpack3 жыл бұрын
I understand you but you need to try them all to understand what I'm saying. You have more range in these wheels than in previous and like I said if you want performance you need weight to get a more stable wheel that's for sure. One of the big reasons why the Sherman is so popular is the stability that delivers.. And that comes with the weight of the wheel. Try first properly and you will not want to ride light ways anymore only for small trips to a supermarket like i use my v8f
@FrenchFighter013 жыл бұрын
@@MADpack I own a KS18L, ACM and MSP...I did try the Sherman. Yes heavier gives more stability and more power...But once again, that's not the only thing for a EUC...Yeah the Sherman is cool but it's so heavy you can barely lift it and it's really not nimble at all. I use my MSP for long rides where I will go fast but for all the rest I wouldn't trade my KS18L for anything. Not everyone wants to ride for over 6 hours or ride at over 60km/h...

Just going on top of a wheel for a couple of meters is not testing a wheel. If you see my first video about the ex i thought it was a terrible wheel amd o regreat what i said. Not saying that your point is not valid but you are only thinking in you not in the general market. The ex is super nimble as much as a msp but better construction waterproofing increased better range etc.. You cant ask for performance and expect that the weight of the wheel continue low. Ot doesn't make any sense so sorry I believe you missed the point on this video bro. I respect your opiniao and happy that you are happy with you ks.. But that shows me that you are not a fast rider so this makes no sense and i understand

@@MADpack well I like my MSP too and riding between 40 and 50 I would call myself a fast rider. riding at more than 50kph is unreasonable in my opinion. you speak of general market, I speak of general interest, and I don't think making EUC's that go always faster will be good in many countries like France where it will only get EUC's banned all together.
