I mean at this point I'd be more than happy to fork about $2900 for a un-suspended ex, the motor and battery config really have my interest. Ditching suspension saves a few pounds in weight and a lot on complexity. The suspension really is the achilles heel of the ex, being a first gen wheel leaves a lot of questions in terms of reliability and durability. I know the rs has a hollow motor but to me the battery is too small and me being a heavy rider(235lbs naked, around 245-255lbs in full gear.) I never really trust the wheel I'm on, I'm always babying the wheels because I can feel them struggle during hill climbs or hard accelerations. I own a Nikola+ and I've gotten to ride a MSP HT, which to be fair could give me more power on accelerations but I still ended up feeling it struggle. Having that massive 3500w hollow motor and a lot more battery behind it would imo be a perfect fit for me. I like speed and the nikola can haul me at 32mph pretty comfortably, but I feel it leaves a lot to be desired. I've had a cut out on the Nikola(no 80% warning beeps, it just gave up) during a small hill climb, but to be fair it was very cold outside. I was fine since I was going slow but it didn't help in building confidence in the wheel.
@OWGAC4 жыл бұрын
sounds like the EX.U is exactly what you're looking for! I am still a bit skeptical as I really loved that 3500w motor and wish they had kept it even if it meant a a slightly higher price

Good review👍 Not sure which audience they were aiming for -- current GW owners looking for suspension(me) or suspension market in general. Love my MSP except for the handle. I came to the MSP from the V10F of which I liked the handle. Made it easy to trolley into a store and pickup groceries. I am fearful to do that with the MSP, always on guard that I will loose control and hit some one. I cruise at 40kph(25mph) on the open stretches of good sidewalks on my 9km commute to work(good weather only). 1/3 of the sidewalks are old and call for a suspension to lesson the impact on my 55yo knees. So the V11 is looking to be in my wheelhouse for the most part, with many liking the handle. But I wouldn't mind at little more range. The package of the V11 is nice so I dont think we will see a V11F in the same package with out them changing it, unless there is a new gen of batteries come out with a higher energy density. Cheers
@OWGAC4 жыл бұрын
as floppy as it is, I thin the trolley is actually a bit better than the MSP's since it is better placed, also they are suppose to send an updated version that's better. The biggest downside to this wheel is its weight, if you need to carry it up and down any sort of stairs or lifting it into your trunk, its a huge pain. short of that, the additional power and speed is worth the trade off for the sub par suspension. IMHO

The V2 of this wheel will embarrass the current gen suspension wheels in every way. Gotway/Begode legit threw this together like a last minute book report and it still came out passable. Having ridden one. It’s not all doom and gloom as I think Hsiang points out. I never encountered his oscillation issues, so for me this was a heavy stable road monster. The battery is humongous, so no more going to Aliexpress or Loomo to get some questionable warranty battery pack configs. It eats up pavement bumps like no other. So if you live in a city with crap pavement and like to ride long distance, you’ll be doing it on this way more comfortably with way less foot fatigue and at a pace that no other suspension wheel is even attempting let alone sustaining. Folks act like the V11 and S18 were magic out of the box and not breaking, cutting out, and catastrophically failing left and right. These are first batch wheels. We all know the drill, right? Anyway, thanks for the review Hsiang. I think you make really fair points. If you’re getting a suspension electric unicycle you’re on the bloodiest path of a bleeding edge technology. Maybe don’t jump in if you’re not prepared to have to perform some surgery.

The only thing I am worried about is given how little interest there has been for this wheel, there really aren't that much reason for gotway to try to make another suspension wheel
@tonyjennings37024 жыл бұрын
@@OWGAC I hear you. My hope is that it goes the way that I’ve read the history of the Monster went. Cumbersome, and expensive, but some niche enthusiasts swore by it and figured out how to maximize its shortcomings. Time will tell, but the best thing Gotway can do is keep sending these wheels out for demos. It will be super hard to move these at their current price point on a blind leap of faith.
@Duf4 жыл бұрын
I'm curious what makes you think this? Unless Gotway plans to totally throw out the current suspension design.
@tonyjennings37024 жыл бұрын
@@Duf The specs of this wheel show up in the performance. Our group in Detroit is fortunate enough to have riders who purchased first batch S18’s and received V11’s and EX’s as demo units. I recently had a chance to ride all 3 wheels the same day and have ridden the S18 on more than one occasion. If Gotway made no changes at all to the suspension the EX is still the most comfortable on pavement with imperfections above 20 MPH. You have a significantly higher ceiling of speed and you’re firmly planted to the ground in a way that the V11 and S18 never will be. It will also climb effortlessly and be much more forgiving for heavier riders. I love the S18, but having ridden 900 miles on a 100V machine, it’s difficult to justify regressing in terms of speed, range, and durability for a suspension wheel that I’ll only enjoy on trails or at a park. The V11 was oddly tall and the pogo suspension felt like it was loading me up to jump me off the wheel. Especially if I pre-loaded it. All of that and it’s still an 84V wheel. And it’s not very durable? I’d be willing to pay more for the specs. I love the speed of my Nikola and live in the suburbs of Detroit. Our roads are terrible. The EX dealt with that and still allows me to realistically travel at 30 mph, not as a theoretical top speed but in real life. And with 2700wh it could do that for a long time. And you still get to listen to music, or sit and ride, and the stability offered by a larger wheel all still applies. 3 x 900wh battery packs is half the cost of the wheel. Give it an actual trolley handle and allow the end user to tweak the performance more through mode selection and this wheel will be more desirable on the street than the V11 or S18. 84V is cool off-road, in parks, or on trails. I don’t see anyone whose ridden a 100V machine on the street intentionally giving up that performance and potentially encountering beeps well below 30 mph after 10-15 miles of riding thanks to a significantly smaller battery. I think these wheels are incredibly representative of the design philosophy of the companies that produce them. Inmotion tries to do everything and gets some of it very right. Kingsong values aesthetic and listens to its consumers. Gotway pushes the boundaries of what’s possible, especially in terms of performance and power. I want the EX. I just don’t want the first one. I doubt I’ll be alone in that category.

rustspots? IN a 3000 USD wheels? Its the hollow motors problem again. Terrible dont buy it.

It's annoying but do keep in mind that I don't think a single euc was released without any issues. Some have more than others and Gotway do tend to have more, but there's unfortinely no trouble free wheel yet

This wheel is trash. Gotway doesn't listen to it's customers yet people still buy , it's nuts . The trolley has been shit for years and they somehow managed to make it worse . Gotway logic . Whatever if you have 3600 dollars u want to light on fire go ahead .

I am split on it, the speed and the torque of that motor is like nothing else, and if you're use to Gotway speed and performance its hard to step down to KS or inmoiton wheels

Too expensive with issues. For this price, you want an extremely polished wheel, not just bigger batteries and motor with an added lacklustre suspension.

Gotway is all about performance; but for the EX it didn't feel like quite enough to offset the high price.
