That's a big change of heart from your initial mehhh & blehhh its so heavy & fugly & why GW?? LOLs I agree that suspension makes cookies into cakes. My S18 has turned my riding from zero to hero, taking foot high jumps with aplomb, traversing all different terrains at speed & the joy of not braking like a scalded cat for every little road imperfection brings ear2ear smiles. & thats not even counting the punishment (& lack thereof) my back & knees aren't taking. A word of warning: be careful as suspension will insidiously attach itself to your pysche to make it indispensable. At least it did for me. Nice vid

What about the Hollow motor cheap bearing issue? They use larger bearings right? They're more prone to failure if they don't use high quality bearings. Has that changed? Cheers!

Honestly I am not sure, I have heard report of it but no way to tell what the failure rates are and if it is an issue that widely affect all the hollow core motor, so far the two demo wheels had held up

I’m 68 years old. Started riding e-scooters as a necessity about 3 years ago. Still working (as a cook), I had been relying on bus transportation for quite a few years. I was a CLOSING cook. The Metro Transit Authority deleted the bus route that I needed to get home. LIME and BIRD had just been introduced here, in Nashville I began renting them to get me to a bus stop some 2 miles away. After a few bad experiences with those rent-a-toys, I bought a NanRobot D5+2.0, on Black Friday using a coupon off of ESG. Shortly after I upgraded to a Dualtron Thunder. These scooters have amazing speed and the DT Thunder has 10 more miles of range than the ‘Bot D5. Am thinking of purchasing the new STORM, but I live on the top level of an apartment building. I bought a over-the-shoulder SLING to help me carry the scooters up and down the stairs, but they are unwieldy and sometimes cause my body damage (bruising) while transporting them. The new STORM will be LIGHTER than my Thunder, if I carry without the battery (which is removable). I am, forever, going to go electric. My question is this: What is the age of the oldest EUC rider that you personally know? I’m not physically (I don’t think) above average for a man my size, but, not only do I exercise (through my work) daily, but I have a lot of 2 wheel experience Before I put my deposit down for the Storm, I’m considering an EUC Would value GREATLY you’re advise. Have had 3or4 wrecks, recovered and bought extreme safety gear. My inherent balance is good, and my calves are 3 times the size of my biceps..

@@donscott6431 My tip - Put your foot on the pedal, make sure your upper body straight up vertical to the ground, lean lower part of the leg to be used for stepping on slightly toward the center of your body, tighten your knee and upper part of the stepping-on leg then step on while slightly pushing your EUC forward. Do not jump on, just step on. Ps) I don't recommemd used ones to learn. Buy new one and tape it with some cushions whatever you can get. After a week or so, you will be able to remove those cushions.

Check the EUC forum and I think there’s an 85 yrs old rider there, and like some of the ppl had said EUC seems to attract an older crowd and you definitely wouldn’t stick out I think.

I've had great experiences in the past with smaller items and the wheel was $2340 to my door. I tried to find someone in the United States but price was $3,000 everywhere for a backorder with standard pedals so direct from China it is.

You need to get off the wheel in case of a crash. If you lock yourself in too much its dangerous. Nylonove is a good alternative to the studded footplates you have since on the nylonove (and Inmotions) Footplates you can adjust the studs a lot - so you can get off if you need that.

Hi Hsiang, great video. I noticed your "external speaker" and I have a question. Why don't manufacturers sync their apps with phones in such way that we could hear all signals in headphones? Wouldn't it be better? I'm using a full face helmet and I rarely hear any beeps, especially if I listen to music while riding. And to be honest, I don't want my wheel to scare people with its loud sounds. Would be great to have such an option at least. If you think it makes sense, could you pass this idea as they listen to you? Thank you

You can do that with app like darkness bot or euc world I think. Gotway never seems to be much good at making softwares

Very important question teacher- at higher speeds 20 miles/hr and up the turning technique is different than at low speed, am I right- I was actually extending forward or a bit on the side the INSIDE turn knee and pushing sideways on the body of the EUC with the OUTSIDE leg, the part that is close to the knee . Is this all wrong? exactly like on skis

Basically at higher speeds, to do a gentle turn/curve which knee to bend and extend forward? I noticed that if i extend forward the right knee- I will turn/curve to the left. BUT ALSO if i drop my left knee, I will also turn to the left. Which one is right, pls?

Some people push with their foot more while other push with their knees (from the outside) more, I don't think there's one right way and it's really down to experimentation to see what your more comfortable with

Thanks for the great content! Unfortunately due to the crazy COVID surge in San Francisco BAESK8 rides are postponed until at least early January. I can still ride solo so I have been practicing with my Nikola and can finally ride around San Francisco streets okay. Christopher Clark (Clark Pads inventor) rides with BAESK8 and I think I will pick-up some Clark Pads for my Nikola. I was just hesitant because I have some custom power pads I bought from Germany that work well but the Clark Pads look even better. I also want to pick-up some spiked foot pads for the Nikola. I went from not considering the EX as my 2021 wheel but now I am torn between that and the Sherman. The Nikola has been good on the street but I have come close to getting bumped off the wheel when going above 20-25MPH and I know suspension and the Clark Pads would have been helpful. Have a great holiday!

It's down to top speed, if you feel like you'll regularly reach for 40mph+ then sherman is your best choice but if you feel that your nikola is fast enough and just like a smoother, more stable and torquey ride then the ex is nice

You’ll probably have better luck with last gen none suspension wheels since they are simpler machines, the KS 18XL was one of the most reliable wheel as I rarely hear any issues with it.

Hi Hsiang. Excuse my curiosity, but what's the reason your left foot is always further away from the unicycle when riding? I have a friend who always rides with his right foot always further away from the unicycle. We can't comprehend the reason behind this behavior.

i use my right foot to stabilize and my left to steer. basically how I snowboard, the stabilizer feet is flat and try to get as much contact as possible, while the steering feet is as close to the edge as possible for more leverage. if that make sense.

It would be interesting to see someone put a 3500W EX motor in a EX-N, assuming it's possible (same axels, would the firmware support it, etc.?), and would it be worth the cost.

I suspect that motor is a large part of the cost for both the ex and the monster pro. So there may not be enough of a saving. Also now that I am riding the monster pro I am starting to miss that suspension!

EXN has a different motor. The similarities is the shell. The motor is different

The new gen Gotway wheels basically use the same 900wh 100v packs. 2 in the RS, 3 in the EX/EXN and 4 in the Monster Pro. When the orders come through, they just pull parts off a shelf. Its good to tailor to the rider. I think Veteran should follow suit with using the same body and having a 24” wheel with new motor that can be used as well on an updated Sherman Plus. Then sell their current Sherman motor at a reduced price but with half the battery capacity allowing the user to upgrade if they want. Then having a suspension seat that will work for all models.

Gotway seem to have such a long and terrible reputation with QC, care for customers, service, etc... with little signs of change or improvement in their attitude. The other brands seem to research and focus on the end user and adapt accordingly. Gotway's distinction of manufacturing the fastest and most powerful EUC's is no longer unique with the advent of Veteran. The highly successful and well received first model Sherman has proven Veteran to be the experienced and competent ex Gotway technicians that they are. Think you have summarized Gotway's confused lack of direction succinctly. Throwing things (numerous models) against the wall and hoping something sticks. Would rather wait for the next offerings. Veteran seem to be the more quality and trustworthy brand for the higher performance EUC. Great vid, review and insights, look forward to the next ones, thanks.

I would say none unfortunately, EUC has not gotten to the point of development where there are “ride and and forget it” wheel, they all require some basic understanding of assembly and where they may have issues. Buuut the other question is, how often will you really ride in the pouring rain? Aside from the wheel it is also quite dangerous to do it, its slippery and the visibilities is low so there’s that.

I'm confused though, why would you make a suspension wheel without suspension? as for the EX - too expensive, you need pads to ride it properly (not supplied), really. The suspension the least elegant solution of the three available and what about longevity of that system? And longevity of that hollow motor, and too heavy. Still room for improvement I think.

The reason why you need a power pad on a heavy EUC is that you can't make sufficient tilt to make an heavy EUC to respond only with your body weight offset and friction between your leg and an EUC. But makers would never provide or establish power pad like thing on their products to avoid Product Liability crisis.

I am not a huge proponent of power pads and it really varies from case to case but it does feel like that these giant powerful wheels (including the sherman) all require pads in order to really pull out their full potentials.

Everything is awesome! no mention about hallow motor issues...you know that if people buy based on your video and after no more then 100km the wheel goes down you should be blamed ..not gotway.......it is not all about the ride feel it is about helping the comunity know the goods and bads..

what will be better in Your oppinion as a reliable and multifuncional wheel, with option for long travels: (city/offroad/long distance) - Sherman or EXN or Monster 22" ? And why? I ride Msx and i like this wheel, multifunctional and light, 5k km and zero issues. I ride mostly around city, but also like big distances, 80-140km., speed max 40km/h. Wheel must be possible to carry on stairs (live on 3rd floor).

Hard to go wrong with the sherman as long as you can handle it's weight, the monster 22" is lighter but the sherman have signicantly more battery and range. The ex is fun but it can't compete with the sherman on range either

@@OWGAC Yeah, a speed version of the 3500w motor, same output, something like that. Honestly I think that the speed is the issue in its self. 70mph on an EUC would be possible, but we'd need an 8000w motor, roughly, to handle the aerodynamic drag. I only know of one company that makes it, and it does fit nicely in an MSX... But it's a 48v system! Therefore I'd need some bits and bobs to make it happen that don't exist to my knowledge right now.

They are fixing it adding water clearance holes next to the bearing. The hollow bore motor has some awesome advantages!!!

@@murlandfish2762 Im glad to hear that Murland - are holes the solution to this is it really that simple I hope so, my guess is some folks are gonna throw in better bearings from EU / US the way the EUC bros are doing it. Not for me Im not technical, wish I was. Got new Wheel, Motor and Bearings for my V1... Some hours work ahead of me. Stud pedals are very good and for GW ex its much needed if you dont want the pogo stick effekt and fall on your face.

I hate to say it but no EUCs are water proof and even if they are design to be “waterproofed” I don’t feel like that their manufacturing tolerance nor QC are tight enough to ensure that they are actually waterproof. However riding in a down pour is rare and as long as you avoid submerging it isn’t terribly difficult to keep it out of trouble.

EX.n is as fast as the sherman aint it, what i see in other reviews anyway. Crappy build quality on ex.n, but torquey and zippy turning
