I'm 43 and pretty much gave up on today's music but the first time I heard that song was on Saturday Night Live and I instantly fell in love with it (probably because its 80's vibe since I'm gen-X). It made such an impact on me that I forced my friend to check it out the next day. The other millenial song that I instantly fell in love with (also first heard on SNL) was Take Me To Church by Hozier. That's one you should definitely check out also.

You are absolutely right! You liked this song because the last time that an artist could scream in a song "and still" carry an emotionally "powerful" and melodious tone was the 80's. That's why you and I both, deem the 80s' as our favorite decade for music. Unfortunately, this is about 1 of 5 songs since the 80s that I can honestly say, "I can never get enough of."

One of th e reasons I love reaction videos is that people notice or point out things I never thought of. You’re right in that this seems like an 80s song. I’m a huge new wave fan so I agree. I watched this video non-stop when it came out! And then I binge-watched every video of his that I could find. Some people will tell you that Gotye is a one-hit wonder, but he is not. He only had this hit here in the States, but he's very big in Australia. I have his first 3 albums and they are very good. "Bronte" is a heart-wrenching song, which I think you'd really appreciate. Also, "Hearts a Mess." They are right up your alley. There is good 21st century music, which for the most part you won't find on the radio, especially in 2020.

He's in the color red, anger. She's in green, choosing life, moving on. Later she's out of the picture. When he started singing he spoke of being addicted to a type of sadness, always looking for the end. He seems disconnected once the song moves further into the story. She tries talking to him with her side and he won't listen to her. He won't look at her. Breaking up is hard and usually two sided. Incredible music, Incredible art, incredible storytelling, incredible voices.
