@freakypencils31 The intro and outro music for this doco is a remix of Eyes Wide Open I started, trying to use only the sounds I sampled from the Winton Music Fence and the Bush Drumkit. The end bit has some reversed vocals from the track, and also some splashy omnichord I never finished it, but it worked well for this doco (when I hear it I sometimes think "I like this better than the actual track!"). Hope I'll find the time to turn it into a finished piece and then make available soon ;)

No wonder why we don't see him anymore. Put him next to almost any other music artist in comparison. They're greedy, loud, obnoxious, narcissistic, foul, and so forth. He's quiet, humble, and just loves music and art. He seems like he doesn't need the fame and money. Perhaps he doesn't want the attention. Bet he high tailed it cause he was sick of how disgustingly mainstream the music industry and its fans are.

@xiphosura4135 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the main reason there's been a drop imo is simply because he does music as a personal thing, for the sake of making music. One of his songs became a hit and that cascaded through the rest, but I definitely agree. Much like some of the lesser known post-rock or ambient artists such as Sky Flying By or Andrew Prahlow he doesn't make this for commercial success. He's a small scale artist that just so happened to 'win the lottery', but his heart is still small-scale.
@wvu055 жыл бұрын
@@xiphosura413 I don't think it's accurate to say that "one of his songs became a hit." My understanding is that he already had a pretty big hit in Australia with "Heart's a Mess." It's just that those of us in the rest of the world only discovered him with "Making Mirrors."

Sonia Leal The recent music industry has become lackluster in true meaning and actual talent. The same old rap/song depicting drugs, women, money, and violence show how stupid mainstream music is. This is how imagine music is supposed to be, a heartfelt or impactful song that shows the creator’s genuine talent! Eyes Wide Open is an overlooked song that carries a message for humans for the next decades to come.
@sonialeal37865 жыл бұрын
Dandy Bandals It’s true, I think all the years that I have listening to many different kind of artists, looking for new sounds with deep lyrics and suddenly I find Gotye’s music in the middle just when mostly shallow music is played in the radios, it was such a great relief, a great discover! The first time I listened Making Mirrors was amazing! I don’t really understand why just one song of that record is the only played in radios. It should’ve been all songs, specially Eyes Wide Open that is so well accomplished and has a deep message. And now that I know the whole process that Gotye followed in order to create it, more valuable because it’s art from the heart.
@dandybandals26675 жыл бұрын
Sonia Leal I appreciate the song now and overlooked it back then. I didn’t understand it. I wish this video would of explained a bit more about all the details in the music video, because it is amazing.

But it amazing. I hope to find more music with as much dedication and thought and talent put into as some of Gotye’s. He’s a true music artist.

Dandy Bandals Well I started to listen all The Basics records, his band. Maybe you already know about them, but in my case I got to know them through Gotye. I had never listened to their music before and I love to know all the steps and projects of my favorite artists. So The Basics, a new great discover for me. Not the same sound than Gotye but it’s about him, Wally the musician, together with Kris and Tim, all playing as a band, you can feel the great vibes in their gigs! I love The Basics too.

I love that he refers to "Goatuuyeah"" as if an entirely different entity. He's going to be around forever b/c while "Someone that I used to Know" is so amazingly passionate, he still is going to do what he wants whether its commercially successful or not. That's very refreshing for a jaded person like myself. And I think I love Eyes Wide open even more. The more musicianship tracks I may not understand, but appreciate the love of the art form. Stay the course Wally!!! xoxo j
