Thankis mate, fisheries here have been stocking them over in western vic for a bit now but not sure how this one got here.

@@HawkesyFishing Very cool fish!! They can occur naturally although it is rare. Most probably a stocked fish but in waters were both Rainbows and Browns are common and spawn, I suppose interbreeding is not out of the question. Could you tell if any of its fins were clipped?
@brianandrea3249Ай бұрын
Ha got it wrong...tigers are cross between Brookies and Browns (not Rainbows)!!
@HawkesyFishingАй бұрын
@@brianandrea3249 No fin clippings on this one. My best guess is it came from a hatchery in the same catchment that does tiger trout and travelled its way to where I caught it

Yoo man, I’ve never heard of a tiger trout! Thats sick as! Are they just like browns and rainbows? I just subbed! Can’t wait to watch more!

Thanks Mate, Tigers are a hybrid between a brown trout and a brook trout. They seem to be more aggresive than the other species of trout I've caught
@matts_bassfishingreynolds3720Ай бұрын
@@HawkesyFishing that would be due to that the tigers are a hybrid that cannot breed, they will grow faster and quicker than other species due to this fact and could also be why you find them more aggressive 🎣👊🏽

wow nice fish. Didn't know you could get them anywhere else other than tasmania!
@frankbotic99532 ай бұрын
Lithgow nsw has them as well.

There's a few getting around vic now, there has been a lot of stocking in two lakes in the west of the state and a few rogue ones popping up after the big floods we had a couple years ago

When did the closed season finish?
@HawkesyFishing2 ай бұрын
Today was first day of the season, this was filmed back in April

Nice Tiger! Are those planted?
@HawkesyFishingАй бұрын
Thanks mate, tigers aren't stocked there my best guess is this one escaped from a farm or someone's stocked dam into the river
@user-tx9zg5mz5pАй бұрын
@@HawkesyFishing If there's brookies and Browns in there, then it could be wild 1😁

Nice Footage. I caught my first Tiger trout in that exact same spot on the Goulburn river in May this year. It could even be the same fish🙂. You can check it out on my video posted on KZbin on the 29th of May. It was on the fly though. Well done. Cheers Kraza.

Thats pretty cool, this was filmed in April this year so I'd say there's a good chance it was the same fish. Don't think there is many tiger trout in the river there
@rodgeorge72442 ай бұрын
The old Goulburn great river to fish I first fished it about 60 years ago and I have lost count of the amount of fish I have caught over the years.I have fished it from Woods Point to Seymour and it never disappoints .

It's one of my favourite rivers, heading there tomorrow for the season opening

God dam, what the heck is a tiger trout y'all. I've seen those toothy tiger fish from Africa but tiger trout, is that some type of hybrid?
@frankbotic99532 ай бұрын
Brook and Brown trout cross breed.
@HawkesyFishing2 ай бұрын
As above they are a cross between brooks and browns, can occur in the wild but the vast majority are from hatcheries and the likes. I believe this one escaped from a trout farm or a stocked private lake
