Every aspiring singer should watch this repeatedly and learn from the absolute image of superb technique that can be seen from these three singers. Even with the sound muted the technical aspects of mouth position, breathing, and facial emotion are lessons in themselves.

The end of the seventies and the beginning of the eighties were definitely the best years of Alfredo Kraus s voice.Yesterday I was listening to a version of La Favorita by Donizetti from1971 but it wasn't quite this level and colour.He was a much too young Fernando.Here he is splendid.Congratulations.

I had seasons tickets at the Lyric at this time and saw this production. Although this film is very good it simply cannot truly give you the complete sense of what these three singers were like across the entire opera. I have been attending operas for over 50 years and on four continents and this is still one of the most memorable productions I have ever seen.
