Hi Charleen, thank you very much for your comments, you are very kind. Because I try to make the design more challenging, I produce less work then in the past. If you like to see my latest ones you can go on my Facebook and if you scroll through the videos they will be there. Thanks again. Cheers

I love looking at the lid designs repeated in the gourd art work. The grace of a shape repeated in nature multiple times. So well done.

Hi, please be aware that these are "Gourds", they are like a pumpkin but they develop a hard shell, a normal pumpkin has a soft shell so it won't be good for decorating in this fashion. I'm sure you will be able to decorate well, the equipment is not too sophisticated but the actual techniques take a lot of practice and patient. One of my gourd takes at list a month from start to finish. But it is very enjoyable. Best of luck. Cheers.

Massimo, I just read your interview from ZoneOneArts. Thank you for sharing your process. My friend and I are new to gourd carving and pyrography. We both come from wood working backgrounds. We are having fun incorporating our skills from wood turning, leather tooling, and metal turning into this medium. I live in Long Beach, CA. I am trying to use found materials from my neighborhood. So far I harvest dried Philodendron palms, pine needles, and the flowers off of Queen Palms growing in the neighborhood. We have a good supply of acorns and other nuts. We have lots of shells and seaweed to consider. I’ve collected crushed stone from my trips to Zion National Park with no plan. I think my time doing inlay work with wood will help. Keep posting your work. I’ll try to follow you. Do you do Instagram? Best regards, Respectfully, Devon Thank you for sharing so much

Hi Devon, thank you for your kind words. I'm sure you will find gourd art very enjoyable as I do. The best thing is the challenge in creating new designs, developing new techniques and even creating new tools to get somewhere were nobody has been yet. The process is slow but very rewarding, each gourd I produce takes between one to two months, and putting the design on the gourd is probably one of the most challenging part. I'm sure you will make good use of your background in wood turning, and apply it to the gourds. If you are interested to see all my work the best place is actually my website www.leotardidesigns.com,and all my videos on KZbin. Thanks again for your interest in my work, and if you have any question about my techniques, please let me know and I will try my best to explain. Many thanks Massimo

@@MassimoLeotardiPhotography absolutely! I was thinking of using it as a serving dish for soups. I’m very interested in crafts for home use. Is it possible or are they just decorative.

Hi, I'm afraid they are artistic media for me, and they all have cut-out patterns, so I don't believe they will hold any soup. I wish you good luck in your search. Regards
