Actually no gap is required. But for easy lateral movement, 1 mm gap is recommended.

I am located at Kolkata, India. Yes, you can make this type of metallic bellows, market is also good in the industry. Almost all industry require it for pipelines.

No, it is not recommended. For this reason, tie rods for metallic bellows are tack welded so that nobody can loose it. But for cooling water line rubber bellows, tie rods can be removed if required for pump alignment, thereafter tie rods are to be tightened.

There are also a large number of rubber qualities available, which means that you can select a suitable rubber compound for any application (see the material descriptions on the following pages).
